So about a month ago Spider Farmer kindly sent me the above mentioned grow light to unbox (link to that first video is below) and now I'm giving a brief update on what growth changes I've seen on my existing cactus seedlings, a Tomato plant and Winter Peas.
I'VE ONLY BEEN USING THE GROW LIGHT FOR ABOUT ONE MONTH.

Thanks so much for watching Lyn and your wonderful comments 😁👍🏻
I am so happy to have the opportunity to try out a Spider Farmer grow light!
looks nice for a 33w light thanks for sharing
Thank you for your comment and for watching 😊👍🏻🌵 it's good they have this SF300 but they also do the next model up which is the SF600 which is twice as powerful 🙂
Great update and plants enjoy the light. Jack must be thrilled with his seedlings growing nicely😊 tiny spines look so adorable on seedlings.
Thank you Magda 😁 I think Jack loves the process of seeing something sprout out of the seeds, he loves it! He especially likes the winter peas as it reminds him of Jack and the Beanstalk fairytale. He loves the cactus now they have spines, and I too love cactus seedlings when they are so cute with their spines 🥰🌵👍🏻🍁🍂
I saw a great video of Lyn and Seedlings, now this great video.... it itches to do this as well. But i think i am to old to start with this, i don't have the knowledge as you two have. Nice one this video 💪👊🤩
Age is of no matter when it comes to enjoying life... enjoy your plants and have fun with growing from seed.
It great to see them sprout from seed!
Good luck and happy growing.
😊🌵 thank you for watching my videos and for your great comments
Awesome update, Claire. Good to see the grow light is working out well for you 😊 Most of the seedlings are looking healthy. Thank you for sharing with us as always. Have a wonderful evening from Edith & myself 🌵☀️🌺🌼🌸🏜
I like the slimline shape, it fit's well, I'd love all my trifold grow light bulbs to be this flat! thank you so much for watching & commenting Daz 😊🌵👍🏻
Looks like the light is working well!!! Are you going to have to cut back on power usage due to the price of power in Europe going up so much? Have talked to Lyn, Hans & Daz, seems like they are going be turning down. Hope you all do ok!!! Tomatoes & peas look like they like it!!! Thanks for sharing Claire!!! from Morris Park in the Ozarks, out to the UK, have a wonderful day!!! Peace, Love, Plants!!!💖🌵🌺🌳🥀🌿🏵🌱🌹🌲🌸🌴🌷🪴🌻🌾🌼😳😃👍
Hi Clyde 👋 thanks so much for watching and for your great comments 😁🌵👍🏻🌞
I am also cutting back on my power usage... I should have mentioned it in my video... darn it 😄 ...Anyway, seeing as all my cactus are inside my house they are fine over winter, but usually I have grow lights on to mimic the hours of sunlight, but seeing as it's getting so dark early now, our clocks went back an hour the other day aswell, but now I have the lights on for 5 hours morning to afternoon, then they go off. As Lyn mentions, I'm not too concerned as the cactus can rest well enough anyway without light over winter.
Actually I might get more buds and blooms next season, from the reduced light, you never know! 😄🌵🍁🍂🦇🌵
Good observations, good information, good chat about all your Plants.
can I safely assume that some cactus seeds can lay dormant a lot longer
than suggested? If so that's very interesting. very enjoyable keep going and looking forward to
The next update, Bill.
Yes, cactus seeds can and do lay dormant, you're very right 😁
Thanks so much for watching and commenting 😊🌵👍🏻
hi im researching grow lights at mo and wondered at what height do you have yours set ? (would it differ per plant species ?) and at that height what spread of usable light do you get please ? just trying to work out if one will be enough above my bench !! ta muchly
The height of this light is set at between 12-18 inches above the propagators in this video
Depending on what you're actually growing you do need to find a good height to meet needs of plants, so if you've got a mixture of species you might want to start off a bit higher and lower it gradually to see if they can tolerate the light being closer.
So far I've had no issues with burning or scorching.
It's a 60cm ×76cm light coverage, 120° beam angle.
But I suggest you watch my detailed UNBOXING video for all the information about this grow light.
Spider farmer do another model, SF600.
Also their online website lists a good deal of information on this grow light too.
The spiderfarmer light are a good light for compared to all your other light, apart from 1 or 2. seedlings and cuttings as long as you rotate the propagators 1 quarter turn everyweek. Those purple lights are aweful, i used some when they first came out in the late 2000s and totally regretted it as they just didn't have the right spectrum, but experts were stating plants can't use green light because that why you can only see leafs in a green color (ROTFLMAO).
Have you tried the cheap T5 or T8 led lights, the VHF T5's in 2's 1 warm white and 1 natural light work very well and if you can find 2ft or 4ft lengths produce good results for microgreens and seedlings and cuttings. San pedro are a nice and fast cacti.
Thank you for watching and for your information.
Yes I've tried T5 I started out on those few a years ago.
Most definitely now, with further research it's now true plants do use green light. Green light is now being introduced into some grow lights, which I've noticed.
