The Scorpion has essentially identical performance to any other Stinger GT2 model. The 2022 models have a “claimed” extra 3 HP but that isn’t unique to the Scorpion.
The “driving experience” is the exact same as well. The Scorpion package is purely cosmetic. That is it.
It’s a pretty nice cosmetic enhancement though.
or maybe I’m just a sucker for black out trim and wheels….

I ve got the 2019 Stinger and they ve brought some really nice improvements to the new one ! Love the wider screen, the new logo and badges... BUT I absolutely do not like this rear spoiler. Looks like some really bad tuning. doesn t bring anything good to the car. A good alternative would have been a small trunk spoiler like the StingerHaus for example

Honestly wasn't too big on the Scorpion package on what was already a fantastic looking car but after finding out it's only like $1300 extra, and watching this review, I gotta say it definitely seems worth it if you're already going all in anyway for a GT2. Love the wheels and the carbon fiber interior bits. Would especially look good with some different color seats, but yeah . Kia's halo car still looking absolutely incredible despite already being a 4 year old design. Kudos to them. I want one.

I have a black GT ( top of the range here in Oz) and have always wished it came with a rear spoiler just to set it off. This scorpion edition looks stunning with the black wheels and black treatment. If I could get an aftermarket spoiler I would attach it in a heartbeat but unfortunately we won't be getting them here
So glad I got a black Stinger. Mine has a special light grey interior and it looks superb.

Great review. I think the way your new rating system is refreshing also, nothing more annoying than a vehicle being scored/compared to something waaaaay over its price bracket or even something in an entirely different segment
I have the scorpion ceramic silver. Amazing car and worth it! Definitely a head turner. Love the fact that it’s not a common car that you see on the road. The one thing I noticed that they kept the single LED bar for the daylights. The rest of the 2022 trims have a double LED bar for its headlights.
Just be sure to dump it before 100k miles.

Of the UA-cam videos featuring the scorpion shows 1 LED bar on the lower half of the headlight.
Always liked the Stingers and this scorpion package adds a little more aggression to it....just wish Kia would’ve took the opportunity to add scorpion decals and stitching amongst the interior and small badges or decals on the exterior
The answer is No. I have a 22' Ceramic Silver Scorpion 🦂 Edition GT2 AWD. Black Nappa Interior with the Carbon Fiber(Really Cool). Overall the car is almost impossible to beat for the price. Mine is Dyno tuned and currently at 560 HP to the Motor 475 to the Wheels. The Torque is ridiculous at 610. The JB4 Tuner is hit and miss but it is insane 😳. Holy Crap power!! With race fuel.
I own a 2019 GT1 AWD and I absolutely LOVE the paddle shifting in this car and how it holds the revs in sports mode. Super fun car.
Scorpion package is just cosmetic, so it won't be any faster. Maybe on a track, given the extra downforce.
No one else seeing the old Legacy GT when you look at this thing from the rear?
I hate the spoiler on this version. Something I would expect to see on a Honda Accord. I love my 2019 GT. This car does not need a spoiler, if anything, just a small lip.

Could not agree more. If it had a German badge, demand would outstrip supply.
Just got new rear sways on my stinger. 100% required upgrade imho. The stock "sway bars" are rigidly mounted to the car and aren't actually swaybars because of it. If you see anyone talk about how floaty the rear is this fixes it.

The only thing I don't like about the Stinger is the poor lack of color choice. Dark colors take away from the edgy design (from a guy who has 2 black cars); yet the red and blue are too bright with no depth. Burgundy or darker blue/red like Genesis offers would be fantastic on the Stinger. Had high hopes with the new green but that was a disappointment too. I know color preference is very personal but it remains a missed opportunity from Kia with such a unique exterior design.
Is the the gt line rwd safe in snow and rain for a first car ?

the brembos brakes are probably the downfall of the car, mine had horrible shudder. changed out rotors and pads and its fine now.

If they made this the regular trim instead of having to pay extra people would be more drawn to buying the Stinger. Instead of having a bad selling number and having to discontinued it.
The trim is not the issue I believe it more has to do with it being a KIA. A lot of people are brand snobs and just would not buy the car because it is a KIA.
However the aftermarket scene to add exterior trims is there
I don't think Kia made the Stinger to profit from the model or sell huge numbers of them. They made it to improve their brand image and show the world they can make a sports sedan that can compete with the likes of their German counterparts. Kind of like when Lexus made the V-10 LFA; they lost money on the project but made a remarkable car that improved their image from strictly a luxury brand.

What’s the brand of the stereo and how may speakers? What is the stereo’s power rating, also. People are very interested is this stuff these days. Also, read brake discs are always a smaller diameter than the fronts. The bulk the car’s weight is in the front end on a front engine car. Inertia only ads to the need for larger front disc.
Harmon Kardon Quantum Logic with 15 speakers. It sounds amazing and bass never distorts at high volume levels. One of the special features you won’t find in stock sound systems are the dual subwoofers installed under the driver and passenger seat; the makers knew that a sub was imperative for quality sound however to achieve the sound they wanted they needed a large sub with plenty of space to "knock" but the stinger lacked the space needed for such a large setup, they overcame this obstacle by installing 2 subs, far superior to any other stock system I have heard in a car outside of an Audi S8 with a Bang and Olufsen setup.
You have Custom mode in the U.S.? We don’t have that in Europe, it’s called sport+ and it’s not customizable.
Oooof, for $53,000...you can get a nice BMW or a Mach 1 Mustang if power is what you're looking for. It looks very nice though, just a bit much for what you can get for around that price though.
Debated a Scorpion... But I'd wind up replacing a lot of the things exclusive to it I'd wind up replacing on it. Went with a GT1 instead.
I have a stinger and can’t wait for my lease to be over so I can get rid of it lol… number one problem that I noticed they haven’t fixed the (ROTORS). Kia for the love of god, give better rotors to match the brembo brakes. During my 3 year lease that’s coming to an end thankfully, I have taken the stinger back to the dealer 5 times for the same thing (rotors) those brakes eat through those rotors like crazy to the point where u brake and the entire car shakes like crazy. Dammit, it pisses me off because I love the way this car looks. Shame on Kia 🤷🏻♂️
I've never heard of this issue, sounds like you brake really lightly or something.. if I owned the Stinger though, it wouldn't be crazy to replace the rotors with something beefier, only a couple hundred $

When washing your car, do you also scrub and clean the rotors? I know it sounds pretty logical but thats what I did and I noticed a big change and now my Stinger doesnt shake anymore when I brake. Ofcourse after awhile, all the brake dust will come back but its not as bad as before.
I wish they added more horsepower to this car 400 horsepower and ft pound of torque

I just picked up a used 2019 GT2. my biggest pet peeve with the new stingers is the tail lights. Looks more like a charger, not a fan at all 🤷🏻♂️…

We only get the RWD here in Australia. It is a superb car however I would have loved to have test driven the AWD just to see the difference. I have always liked AWD having had 3 Subaru's including a WRX. They are fantastic in the wet and just adds to the safety.

@@andrewjacobson556 That is most likely true Andrew. I am too old to do burnouts and can't afford to replace tyres due to burnouts. My wife would remove any extraneous parts I have on my person if I did that.
I did once get to take my WRX to a proper racing track here in Australia and that was an unbelievable experience. It felt so safe given the traction.
I would love to take my Stinger to a track and extend it.

I have a GT 2 limited, it doesnt need to go any faster, this last edition has more interesting cosmetics and thats cool.

I would Absolutely by a Charger over the Stinger. Stinger is an awesome car for sure especially with awd but for the sound track from a v8, 475hp and widebody for similar price, the Charger is a great package.

@@gelley46 Yes i think a SCAT PACK Charger is about the same price but might not have the leather interior for that price? I would think that extra 100 hp would account for something over the Stinger but the Stinger will still surprise plenty of people
@@zxtenn A nicely optioned Widebody Scat Pack with Alcantara/Leather seats, and Sunroof will run 55k. It won't have Nav or some of the electronic goodies that are on the Singer but those wide bodies look and sound bad ass. I do like the Stinger overall. Nice package for sure. Plus if you invest 1k into a chip and tune it's over 400 hp.

I’ve never driven a Stinger or the Genesis G70 that it gets compared to often. One comment I’ve read about these two is that Hyundai addressed any downsides of the Stinger in the G70. What’s your thoughts about these two? I know someone with a G70 and they have loved it.
Reality is, only difference the stinger has vs the g70 is the wheel hop on potholes is fixed on the genesis, and g70 feels like 10% more "well put together". Theres no downside, in fact you deal with less space in the g70 overall. My stinger is a 93k miles and i drove a new g70 for about 2k miles as a rental. If you want space and huge aftermarket support, go stinger. If you dont need a backseat (cramped as fuck) and want a more "agile" and luxury amenities like concierge service, then go g70
@@unrealisticgoals Test drove a G70 and it’s to small inside for me, it feels like a Honda Civic inside and cramped no room in the trunk, I went with the Stinger GT2 to me it was a better choice for space and power, not knocking the G70 but it’s made for shorter People under 5ft 10 inches

Also, you should show the enitre window sticker not just the sticker from the factory. Show the sticker/price that dealer is selling and additional crap they are adding on to charge.
My dealer had a gt1. Said 44k plus 1k shipping is 45k. Sticker next to it all 4k in add ons 4 were zantec BS, mats, scratch thing, tint, etc. Than a 5k charge for market adjustment.

“Limited edition”….it’s a GT2 with a 1200 option…🙄. I hate the fact that these are considered limited edition when it’s just a top trim stinger with a 1200 option, and dealerships are price gouging the shit out of these I’ve seen some around 70-75k.

Although I like the way that hatch back opens I think the spoiler looks ridiculous. They should have it go the full width of the rear and it should light up with the brake lights integrated into the spoilers rear-facing Edge. All in all what they're charging for this vehicle stinger scorpion needs major Improvement if they really want to attract the sports car enthusiast.
The spoiler completely changes the body lines of the car and IMO makes it 100x better looking. I'm not a big fan of everything blacked out though and this video shows why I hate that, water stains and mud and splotches on the paint...just not a great look overall, feels a bit highs-chooler to black everything out these days. This is affectively the DTM package for the Audi S4 B6 back in the day, which just amounts to some extra aero and carbon fiber.

The 2022 Stinger does have ambient lighting. At least it does here in Canada and I have no reason to believe its any different elsewhere.
Doesn't have the big sun roof so as the car is stronger and doesn't twist
