- On this episode of Create Consume Repeat I’ll be unboxing the much anticipated LG - UltraGear 32 Inch 4K UHD Nano IPS monitor. Model number LG 32GQ950-B.
If you’re into high-end PC gaming you already know how difficult it is to find a 32-inch monitor that delivers 4K resolution, outstanding color accuracy, proper HDR, a high refresh rate and supports modern IO standards like HDMI 2.1.

I love this monitor!!! 1 week in. No eye strain at all. No headaches. Looks great. Buttery smooth at 120 fps. Backlight is a nice touch. 32 inch is perfect. 27 inch monitors feels a tad small. Had to turn the red color saturation down. But that’s it . I’m ready for the tidal wave of games coming October-March
💯💯💯
Just ordered it today from amazon for $899! :D super excited
@@iLazarus_xD How are you liking it?
Another great, informative video! Looks like a pretty snazzy monitor!
Thank you. Had to pick up when I saw World of Warcraft Dragon Isles.
This monitor looks great, I'll be getting mine soon.
Any good Mini Led is wayy too expensive and an OLED TV is too big for my desk, also I don't want the stress of having to worry about burn in on an OLED from using it with my PC either.
Great review and video. Have you try mounting the monitor? And if so what wall mount or desk arm mount do you recommend for this specific monitor? Thanks
Currently mounted on my desk. I don’t use the stand. I am using a HUANUO Monitor Arm - Gas Spring Monitor Mount Fits 13-32'' Monitor. Hold Max 19.8lbs. That said I would get something stronger since I am pushing the mount to its limit.
@@CreateConsumeRepeat thanks for replying. Will look into it
Such pro content! 🔥
I noticed with black stabilizer that the normal whitish blooming is more blueish which looks much better in my opinion. How is it gaming in a dark room? How hot does it get?
Dark room is a pleasure. It does get HOT 🥵
Really on the fence about selling my LG 34GP83A for this monitor.. I love the ultrawide when I'm playing single player PC games, or the real estate for working but I primarily game on my PS5 or play Warzone (prefer 16:9) and I HATE having to have black bars on the side. Any thoughts? I know they're very different monitors
I don’t f*ck with black bars so I would pull the trigger. That said if you wait a year you will probably get a better monitor with FALD.
@@CreateConsumeRepeat yea they're terrible haha. I'm also thinking about just going with the old LG 32GP850-B for a bit until the prices for the new monitors go down
@@CreateConsumeRepeat FALD in IPS works mostly terribly because of the native contrast 1000:1, so VA in HDR will always win in almost any HDR content. It's pointless to wait for IPS with FALD and even if they create something special (double/triple FALD technique or something else), it will cost much more than VA. QD-OLED may be an option, if they create other letter types for its pixel positions.
You don't want an ultrawide...
Thank you for this video, but you told us at 4'17" 'this includes full tilt height and pivot support via the standard LG monitor' so far I have readed, there is no 'pivot support' with this monitor, I still hope it's possible?
I don’t have my monitor on the stand but if I recall correctly, it did the following: tilted up and down. Had adjustable height and pivoted 45 degree to 9x16.
Screen looks beautiful to game but can I also add my MacBook Pro ? Is it good for productivity. Can I have a gaming pc and mbp work together ?
Yes. DVI with PC and secondary display with iMac via HDMI.
Is it easy to switch or have to be done manually.. do I need to turn off one to use the other one ? Truly appreciate your help.
Done manually with the joystick. It’s not ideal if you plan on switching back and forth a ton.
That gaming area is badass!!!!
Deciding between this monitor and Acer x32FP… been waiting to upgrade my current 4k60 hdr1000 monitor
If you have the money go LG but keep iN mind you will be paying a hefty premium for that “HDR” performance. Also the LG is not true HDR when compared to an OLED.
That Acer is gonna be 2 grand
Without consider hdr and black levels , this is better or samsung neo g8 ?
The neo G8 is curved so it wouldn’t work for professional purposes (photoshop, etc.). That is why I prefer the LG.
@@CreateConsumeRepeat I purchased a week ago Lg 27gp950-b (Same 32gq950) with low brightness I'm used it for single gaming , but neo g8 has also get a good discount so I was tempted to return lg and buy ne9 g8 ! Which has a better picture quality in sdr ?
Respone time of lg is impressive, how a va Samsung?
@@mrbabels5343hello, so what did you end up having and what's your opinion?
Thanks🤝
Btw for the monitor the gloss parts on the sides get scratched easily I’m looking for ways to remove it or to cover it so it doesn’t get scratched more
Like any piano finish, scratches do happen. Let me know how you protect the finish.
@@CreateConsumeRepeat I usually use a dust protector for the monitor but I wanna know if there’s anything I can do to remove the scratches
Just copped one and can’t wait, I’m coming from a Asus VG27VQ
It will be a game changer. PC gamer has it at the top of their best 4K monitor list.
Sony dropped a ball making that monitor 27inch.
Had they made it 32” I would have picked it up.
@@CreateConsumeRepeat 32, 38, 42, all those sizes would of been on my desk. Sony should of did more reading before starting pc gaming monitor business.
why is the specs on the Sony Monitor better than this LG? i also want the sony one but 27" is the same as my Asus and i want a slightly bigger screen now. So i could be getting this LG just because the size!
@@jaijay25 Can't go wrong with the LG, it has amazing colors and HDR goes above 1000 nits, higher than the Sony.
Sony is using new tech. Full array local dimming is a game changer. Just wish it had more zones and was larger.
How is the hdr brightness..does it reach 1000 nits..
Yes it can hit 1000 nits.
How's the main gear holding up boss
Love it and highly recommend. Please check out my MainGear review video.
how high is the lowest edge from the desk with the stand at max height?
Not sure since I mounted it on my desk with a VESA arm. Sorry.
This IPS has one of the best panels in term of backlight bleed and glow...
Bought this monitor from second hand for around 530, even less like 527, only one owner and he used it to play Ps5 casually, how did I do?
🤯🤯🤯 Congrats.
Like a champ.
Please compare this to other 32" options that can be used for gaming / graphic and photo editing.
I think there are a lot of designer-gamers out there, and that's very much an untapped UA-cam reviewer market. Jump on it if you can.
Great work
I’m trying to decide between this and m32u for pc gaming and MacBook Pro editing
Best 32" 16:9 IPS 4K with bright 500 nits SDR brightness and real 1000 nits with HDR on (10bit and 12bit) but not enough back-light zones for real HDR, while still being the best HDR IPS @ 32" on the market in 2022. Trust me, I've researched for half a year to reach this conclusion. 🤖
I got the Dell G3223Q but was considering this one too, hopefully I made the right choice. The Dell is cheaper and I'm not sure the LG brings anything more interesting...
@@Bruno-qy6mi oh no, the Dell looks good too. Not as good as the LG, but still good for mixed usage. LG still has the advantage in IPS response time even when other monitor manufacturers use the same exact panels from LG that LG uses in their own monitors!
@@PaulSebastianM Thank you for your reply. I can still change my order... Do you have any more info of the response time / brightness difference of the two monitors ?
@@Bruno-qy6mi only what @HardwareUnboxed published.
@@PaulSebastianM ha thanks, unfortunately they didn't review the Dell... I read only one bad review about the input lag but it seems to be only for 60 Hz so fingers crossed...
For the price + the features is this monitor worth it for my ps5?
Playing Final Fantasy 7 right now and I think it is worth every penny as long as you: A. Need a 32” PC, PS5, XSX monitor. B. Have deep pockets C. Can’t wait till next summer/fall.
@@CreateConsumeRepeat yes I need a 32 inch for my ps5 and I can definitely afford it but if a better monitor come out next year I don’t know if I’m getting it because I will have this monitor already. Any thoughts?
As mentioned in the video, I would wait considering Sony changed the game with their Inzone full array local dimming monitor.
@@CreateConsumeRepeat ok thank you for your feedback!! 🙏🏽❤️
I had this monitor (and have a PS5). I returned it due to, what I feel, is poor HDR. Games vary, but for the most part, the HDR made most colors look washed out and pastel-like. The SDR is awesome, but part of the high price is for the HDR 1000. I would wait. (Side note: I also have the 48" LG C1 and it's picture is fantastic, but it is too big for me for some games. If they had a 32" version of it, I'd buy it immediately).
Not available yet in France but my eyes are on the ASUS PG32UQ.
I just bought one from Amazon since it was on sale for 820$!!!!!! Now I’m just watching UA-cam videos hyping up my purchase until it gets here lol. Everyone agrees it’s a gorgeous picture. I’m literally playing on a 10 year old VIzio 1080p 60 inch tv so this is gonna be a massive upgrade.
Life changing.
Do you know if VRR works with 160Hz?
I have not tried it but I can try it tomorrow.
I have the 32 inch lg ultra gear 1440p and it is the best. For 4k 144hz its looking like this one is going to be the one too in its category. LG is the best when it comes uniform approaches to their monitors. It sure as hell isn’t oled but not everyone wants an oled for the very obvious reasons.
Hey Leo I also have the 32 1440p one too. I have a question for you. Do you also play on console, do you have any issues with input switching, do have a console connected to the monitor? I play on both pc and ps5, and I have noticed that if I turn of my pc and then turn on my ps5. I have to manually swtich inputs in the montior os??? I had the previous LG 32 1440p monitor too, and I never had to use the monitor OS to switch inputs? My old prvious monitor did this on it own, so wondering if you have had any issues like this on your montior??
Ips glow and abysmal contrast is not for pros bro, but hey, at least you enjoy it.
@bob369 Do you own this monitor? Or are you just generalizing? Also when you say pro do you mean pro gamer or profesional artist?
@@CreateConsumeRepeat I got the latest lg 32 inch 4k with polarizer and it was terrible. Ips glow was was minimal but the polarizer ruined the colors, they looked like TN quality. My desktop wallpaper had so much color banding, I wrapped it back in the box right away and took it back. They stripped the monitor so much of ips quality for pixel response and input lag, I measured the contrast ratio on it too and only got 960:1, paid $1300 for it, then week later it dropped to $1k. I think the monitor is worth $400, it's edge lit for crying out load.
Sorry you had a terrible experience. I had the opposite experience. Best PC monitor I have ever owned.
Solid as always!!!!!
Deciding between 48GQ900 and 32GQ950 it’s a tough one
If you have the desk space and don’t mind being far from your screen go 48. I personally feel 48 is too large.
I tried to go with a LG C1 48in but it was just too large for a desk. It was not comfortable and the height from the desk was just not right. I just ordered a 32GQ950 from Beach Audio/BuyDig they have them for under $1000 right now
Compered other monitors to the 32GQ950 when the g8 yes has issues but the neo g7 don't with no scanlines or HDR issues and has the same picture Quality and does much better HDR much brighter and better blacks than the 32GQ950 also most people buying these monitors are for gaming so being curved or doing content creation wouldn't be much of a factor as there a far better monitors out there for doing that alone for professional work. Also there is the gigabyte m32u that can do all what this monitor can at a much cheaper price with a slight difference to brightness and over $350 cheaper. So as for the price for the 32GQ950 your only gaining about 100nits or more for having that brightness level over the much cheaper gigabyte m32u unless they drop the price down on the lg monitor by another $200 then it would be a better buy but until then i don't see it value over the gigabyte m32u
Appreciate your POV. As stated in the video, for my specific needs the LG is a better monitor that comes at a premium price. Is it worth it, that is up to each individual and their accountant to decide. 💸💸💸
I get mine Friday. This is the monitor I have been waiting for. However, Corsair just release a Brand new 32" 4K at same price. (is likely the same exact panel) I think Menu wise LG wins over the corsair. But The Corsair looks Really good too AND it can be purchased without a stand for $899 if you already have a monitor arm.
I’m not a fan of Corsair customer support. Many bad experiences.
What are your settings ?? I’m using it for my ps5 hdr seems dark idk should I just leave it on sdr ??
I would leave it on HDR and customize your HDR settings on the PS5. You can follow this tutorial ua-cam.com/video/FwcSCgW47rY/v-deo.html
@@CreateConsumeRepeat I did that it seems dark and sdr looks brighter
It’s personal preference. Glad you found what works for you.
Does this monitor have speakers build in?
No
@@CreateConsumeRepeat Can you add speaker ?
@1DYARIiI1 you can add speakers to your computer via usb. The monitor also has a 3.5mm jack if you want to hook up speakers for use with a PS5/XBX
Sweet video, thanks for putting it together. I just cannot understand the lack of USB-C ports
Agreed. That was a bummer. I attribute it to all the different flavors of usb 3. A, B, C, etc.
Would have loved to use it with my macbook..
Suport 1440p 120hz on ps5?
I believe so. Just keep in mind that when I tested PS5 did not support 1440p.
There’s also the g7 4k. For like 629
It is curved so it is a no go for professional applications.
@@CreateConsumeRepeat it is not curved the 28 4k g7
My bad. 27 inch is too small for me. But thanks for adding this in the comments. Might help others make an informed decision.
🙏💕🥇🍾
Can i buy your stream deck profile?
😂😂😂 More than happy to send you a copy but not sure how useful it would be.
@@CreateConsumeRepeat do you have a venmo or cash app? I’ll send my email and $20 for it
No USB C DP Alt… missed opportunity
Facts
Looks like it doesn’t support Dolby Vision. Is DV a big deal or just another marketing bs?
Dolby Vision is amazing for ensuring accurate color/brightness in movies but that’s a feature commonly found on televisions.
people keep comparing good monitors like this one due to the lack of more local dimming, to the curved galaxy, the ultrawide alien, and the crappy physical built of sony's monitor where the screen goes further from you whenever you are raising the monitor, and goes closer to you whenever you lower the monitor down.
is this a sponsored by LG video?
Nope. Have you seen my sub count? Also I keep it 💯
10 bit with 120 Hz only? Well, not good!
144Hz (O/C 160Hz) Refresh Rate

8 bit with 144 /160. 10 bit only with 120. Such monitor parameters. Can you hear me? And you should have warned the guys about this!!!
I wasn’t aware that it was 8bit with 144/160. Thanks for that heads up. I’ll give it a try later today. As for the “warned the guys about this”? Not sure if you realize this but I don’t work for LG and this wasn’t a sponsored video.
@@CreateConsumeRepeat I meant your viewers))) Anyway, thanks for the feedback! Good luck!
what is the optimal?
Man how you killed its competitors
bla bla bla...just regurgitate too many slogans from LG's marketing department
I believe you mean features.
@@CreateConsumeRepeat LG's people prep you well.
LOL. I am not paid by anyone. Have you seen my sub count?
@@CreateConsumeRepeat lol, I guess haters gonna hate. To me it just seems that LG has made another great product. It’s sad that some people can’t accept that this is a great monitor. Expensive? Absolutely, but great none the less
@@JackTotGamingI think anything that is edge lit and ips from year 2020-2022 is automatically trash nowadays bro. They asked $1300 for it, no shame. Go with oled or mini led.
just went back up to 1299 saved the money went to get it ordered today and now 1299 from 899/ assholes
I guess it’s in demand.
