Yeah concrete halls reminds of exploring a nether fortress but I don’t have much memories related to dead voxel and concrete halls since I don’t bust nether a lot
Honestly when I listen to the Minecraft theme, I can just imagine open fields, forests, deserts and villages, with mobs just living their lives, looking and moving around, doing their usual stuff. Maybe sometimes I even see players, just doing their thing. I can only think of the words "what a wonderful world" when I hear it.
The music prompts always creep me out/makes me feel alone in the world while also giving me the feeling someone is watching me in the shadows of the world somewhere. That's pretty much all I think about it. XD

The way you delivered teh wake up line sent such strong chills through my body that i have never felt before. This is possibly the greatest youtube video i’ve ever watched
When I was about 12 I was playing minecraft with my brothers and my sisters and having a blast. We were building a house for my sister who had just joined us and fighting each other to see who was the best. That day has been one of my favorite memories by far, not because of the fun we had or who I was playing with, but because of the songs that played. All the songs from clark to Minecraft played and they just bring so much joy to me when I hear them. I feel like the songs aren't memories you can tweak but rather memories that are implanted and kept the same forever. And thats what makes the music so fascinating that every time you hear it you feel that feeling that almost everyone that has played minecraft have felt.
The most nostalgic Minecraft song for me is Mice on Venus. When I first started playing in Release 1.1, that song played while I was climbing a mountain.
"Dead Voxel" and "Concrete Halls" are the only two nether songs that I actually remember. Concrete Halls seems to always play when I'm at my local Nether fortress which is less than 100 blocks away from my Nether spawn and Dead Voxel seems to play when I'm doing anything else. Edit: fixed a mistake autocorrect caused

I was bullied a lot during my first years of school and I didn't get to play Minecraft a whole lot but I watched stamps every video, and he had the music in the background. it made my childhood easier to watch him so every nearly time I hear the Minecraft music I cry, because of all the emotions I had and are connected to it. now I have had Minecraft for nearly two years and I been playing it nearly all the time I have had the game
15:40 See, that's very interesting, because instead of depressing I find that track reassuring, a brief moment of peace from the monsters wandering the halls. Minecraft's soundtrack, like the rest of the game, really is what you make it. :)
The End is one of my favourite tracks. I always turn on music whenever I spend hours in the End searching for End cities. The silence interrupted by this piece is just something else.
The first time I heard “The end”, I was sitting in my room at 12 pm with all the lights off while listening to the entire Minecraft soundtrack. It was an experience.
But I don’t want to go.. I know.. but sometimes leaving knowing you’ve accomplished something is the best way to end it all.. Sometimes knowing the universe loves you is enough. Sometimes knowing you made someone happy is enough But.. you still need to _wake up_
Because I have played Minecraft since I was a little kid, every time I hear any of these songs they instantly bring me back to times where I am playing Minecraft with my friends. It is a nostalgic feeling of that I will have attached to this great game for the rest of my life.
I’m a little sad that Alpha wasn’t mentioned here; I think it’s one of the best tracks in Volume Beta, however I’m glad you talked about The End. I never was particularly fond of this track just because of the white noise, but after hearing another opinion, I kinda like it now!
Minecraft is one of the things that I hold quite close to my heart and It always calms me when I hear its music! I want to personally thank you for making this video!
Exactly! When I played Minecraft for the first time, I had so weird, interesting and unexplainable feeling. I'm sad that I've never experienced this feeling again...
The soundtrack that plays when you're in creative mode is the most nostalgic to me. I think that's just because I've always preferred that mode when I was younger.
Cat is and will forever be the anthem of my childhood. I remember playing it all of the time when me and my brother completely overhauled and reconstructed a village from the ground up together. I was hardly any good, given my young age, but it was fun and I’ll always look back so fondly on it.
Dude, you are the only person I have seen on the internet to gush about the track "The End". That track is an absolute masterpiece and I find to be deeply moving, thanks for bringing recognition to this grossly underrated soundtrack.
God... i was not expecting to ugly cry after watching the end of this video. The reading of the End poem got me. I forgot the message of that, and hearing it again really drove home the message to live my life how I want to. Life is short. Too short. Shorter than you, the reader, may think. I’m already 19 years old, and it almost seems like yesterday when I was playing outside with my little brother on our tricycles and playing Minecraft for the first time. I realize that life moves fast. Too fast. To quote Ferris Bueler’s Day Off: “Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” Thank you so much for this video. Minecraft means the world to me, and with the Nether and End tracks and the End poem, I realized what a masterpiece C418 has crafted for me and so many others. I’m gonna go life my life now, and make music, which I’ve wanted to do for years. Your video is one of the reasons I’m finally gonna live life like it’ll be gone tomorrow. Thank you, I truly mean it so much. Peace.
The End was AMAZING as it set the feeling for the islands ahead, it took a completely encompassed how I felt when I entered for the first time in Survival. When the heavier synth began to kick in, I was amped up to finally escape. I do want to hear one thing though: What do you think of the new Nether tracks? I'm always interested in all the varied synths and the fact that they seem to fit greatly with different biomes there. Lena Raine was the perfect person for the job, she know how to create emotional tracks no matter what the instruments. It reminded me of many experiences, from Starbound's "Tranquility Base" to Black Mesa: Xen's "Hunting Grounds".
I was part of the OG crowd from 2012, and I never stopped playing. The game means so much to me, because it has shaped who I am in such a profound way that I could never live without it.
This is actually one of my favourite UA-cam videos. Even though I’ve heard all the songs many times the way you describe them is so well done. That end song literally gave me goosebumps even though I’ve heard it before
I can only regret having turned off the music during my return to this game. I felt a sad sense of nostalgia wash over me hearing the title screen music, and it was a tonnnnnn to handle. I grew up on Minecraft, and the background songs of this game have me wishing I could go back and relive the memories of being a child. It saddened me knowing that those memories are all I have. However, as of recent, I've been on-and-off about keeping the soundtrack playing. Usually, I disable it if I'm listening to something else but if I have nothing to listen to, that bad boy goes on. The points here about the timing of the music could never be more true. This video might cause me to break out of my shell and face my fears of new memories being created head-on. Thank you Liam.
Suggestion: Understanding the MUSIC of EarthBound Also, I never realized how great Minecraft’s soundtrack is. And I really liked how you correlated the gameplay footage with the music examples, great work Liam!

The song Minecraft, ahh it brings back the memories of just loading up one of my oldest worlds back in the old days of Minecraft 1.4... jeez I've played for a long time haven't I? The song itself just reminds me of my younger years, i had no idea what i was supposed to do, my sister had put me on the game on new world. I was on creative mode and wanted to test what i could do. I remember those days. One my first ever builds was a massive skyscrapper made from bricks. I dont remember how i did it but it was massive and I jumped off of it. Why? Because I knew I wouldn't die and I wanted to feel the rush of I'm falling again.

Minecraft has brought me the best of memories, the happiest time of my life was during the old days. What’s sad is that you can never make the same memories again, and when you grow old, so does the feeling of the emotion you once knew.
I just came here to say what a beautiful essay this was. I seriously cried watching this video, thinking about all the old memories I have, playing this game all night... Letting me create whatever I wanted, to build a world I saw as ideal. I recently got back into playing Minecraft. It was so overwhelming going to a specific world I had put so much time and effort and love into. Walking through the seaside village I had created. I definitely shed a tear.
Holy crap dude. I've been meditating on how the music of minecraft makes me feel in every aspect of the way it presents itself. Everyday it haunted and stung me in the back of my mind with sweet and sour notes of nostalgia day after day, nostalgia and hopelessness... Nostalagia and hope and multiple shades of melancholic dissonance between reality and realm of thought, distractions etc. Nostalgia and melancholic attitude more complex theb the typical comments on youtube videos about remembering minecraft, it felt as if I was experiencing a glimpse of the conscious afterlife and the before-life and life beyond where I know not where it leads or how far it goes. I contemplated my life and meaning in general because of how the music reacted with intellect and spirit if I even have one. But anyways, I know I sound high off my marbles but I felt I should express myself and share a deeper thought beyond typical youtube comment thought. What I wanted to say earlier before I faded into an absurdism type rant, I just wanted to let you know that this video has helped me understand minecrafts music but also part of the hidden meaning I feel it has personally to me. Sorry for the pointless rant, cheers.
For me, Clark has two memories associated with it. The first is from 2013, where in a creative world, I got lost because I made and went through a random nether portal, but I was never able to find my way back to my builds. While I was fruitlessly trying to get back, this song played. The second is more recent. Around the beginning of March, I went on a choir trip to LA,. On the plane ride home, I was listening to the minecraft soundtrack, and while the last light faded away, Clark started playing. Now, every time the song plays, I get a feeling of wanderlust, and I wish I could go back to those careless days in LA.
It's rare that I comment on videos outside of my own but I just wanted to say that this video and the one on health's max payne 3 soundtrack were fantastic and id love to see more. This video genuinely made me cry and id love if you continued making videos about game soundtracks. The recent portal video is great too
i have that exact memory too, it was the first game i got for my xbox 360. i sat there listening for at least 15 minutes, thinking about how much better the soundtrack was compared to the mobile version. (the mobile version's soundtrack is still really good, but it does not convey the sheer emotion conveyed by the xbox 360 version of the soundtrack)
Something this video helped me do was contextualize my relationship with Minecraft. I played all the time as a kid, and I associate many of the older tracks (like Minecraft and Sweden) with “the good old days” of watching Minecraft videos on UA-cam from beta. Listening to them brings back memories of that time, of building a house entirely out of wool and glass in Creative because I thought that was the kind of house I would like. And when I stopped, that was the beginning of one of the darkest times in my life. I fell out with every friend I had. I had resigned myself to being insignificant, unwanted.... Alone. When I came back to Minecraft, I was in a somewhat better place. The new songs welcomed me in, along with the nostalgic tracks bringing back nostalgia. I had new friends, a new reason to play the game, and more ideas beyond my younger self. Even though I haven’t played in a week and a half, I know I’ll come back. And then, listening to this video, I had that revelation. I understood it. I was the universe. The universe meant something. I mean something. I don’t like it when people say “this video/creator was the only thing keeping me alive in this time period”, but I will say thy this video helped me change my worldview. Thank you.
The song Alpha that plays in the credits makes me cry every time I hear it, all the countless hours I've spent in this block game. Reminds me of all the found times with friends. Reminds me of the first time I played the game on the PC Gamer Demo Version, the mix of the main songs like Sweden and Minecraft just make Alpha all the more special. It tells the entire story of the player, without even telling the story. It makes you feel like you're special, and everything you do in the game has affected you.
I don't like it tbh... it just... isn't Minecraft, now as much as I hate it when people say that something isn't Minecraft, I'll just have to bend the knee here...

'Mutation' and 'Beginnings 2' have been the opening song played on PS3 for as long as I remember, and it still is. When I heard it, it reminded me of the countless, thousands if not tens of thousands of hours I spent playing this game with my three siblings. I believe more then 15% of the time I have spent talking to my siblings has been because of this game. Minecraft shaped my life, my identity, and it because of that, my future. And I can remember that by just playing Beginnings 2 in my bedroom at night on my google home.

This video taught me that listening minecraft nether music alone in a dark room in the middle of the night is not a good idea.
Any music disc can be creepy if in the perfect circumstances

most clever transition I have ever witnessed. good job. I love this game to an incredible extent :)
that sounds like something in a slender game
Dude that creeped me out
dude you scared me-
That transition was awesome
Sounded like giorno's theme when its almost at the best part lol
“Dead Voxel” and “Concrete Halls” carry the strongest memories for me.
Tornado wet hands for me... so bad I have to stop playing
Ballad of the cats
I fuckin' love dead voxel aaa-
You spent a lot of time in the nether XD
Yeah concrete halls reminds of exploring a nether fortress but I don’t have much memories related to dead voxel and concrete halls since I don’t bust nether a lot
that ending really overpowered me with emotion. wow.
You are the player.Wake up
Honestly when I listen to the Minecraft theme, I can just imagine open fields, forests, deserts and villages, with mobs just living their lives, looking and moving around, doing their usual stuff. Maybe sometimes I even see players, just doing their thing. I can only think of the words "what a wonderful world" when I hear it.
It truly is a wonderful world
A peaceful life .
Finally someone acknowledged the amazing nether music while talking about the soundtrack
The music prompts always creep me out/makes me feel alone in the world while also giving me the feeling someone is watching me in the shadows of the world somewhere. That's pretty much all I think about it. XD
Yeah, sometimes it can be relaxing and nostalgic but other times it can feel kinda lonely and creepy
Whenever i hear the end music , i feel someone watching me .
@@fishfood8711
I really want to get rid of that lonely creepy feel so I can vibe to some Minecraft Ost
I still want to understand who put creepy noises at random in the game.
Amonimus it plays in unlit caves. if you hear any of the sounds, it means theres a cave nearby :)
@@resiseven7407 This comment is five months old, but additionally it also plays at set times. You'll hear that noise at sunrise, noon, sunset, and midnight, so if you know roughly when you went into a cave what time it was, you can actually track how long you've been in the cave itself and roughly when it's safe to leave the cave and make a run back for your house!
Kaytehh holy shit, that's so cool! thank you for the info

The way you delivered teh wake up line sent such strong chills through my body that i have never felt before. This is possibly the greatest youtube video i’ve ever watched
Same!!!
And thats what makes the music so fascinating that every time you hear it you feel that feeling that almost everyone that has played minecraft have felt.
is this...
it this a video that acknowledges the existence of volume beta?
impossible!
whats...volume... beta?????????
iLvL it’s a playlist that involves Dead Voxel, Concrete Halls, Aria Math, Taswell and Mall, among others.
Basically the one with all the creative mode songs. I was surprised to find out people didn’t like it. Eh, taste is taste.
Have you heard “ballad of the cats”
I’ve forgotten how HAUNTING the music was in this game. Holy shit. 😭
Great video, man! 👏

Feeling a bit depressed now. But this video and Minecraft music made my night so much happier. Thanks much
I mean this video made me a little sad cuz it reminds me of everything I did in Minecraft (all platforms) and now that is just memories..
And for me I was told of the nether update (which I was wanting) and it started playing shortly after, so I inyerpret it as hopeful.
Yea, this is quite interesting, as I find it is sort of inspiring, and invokes bravery to tackle a new challenge.
The End is one of my favourite tracks. I always turn on music whenever I spend hours in the End searching for End cities. The silence interrupted by this piece is just something else.
You didn’t only help me understand the music of Minecraft but you helped me understand myself better.
Sometimes knowing you made someone happy is enough
But.. you still need to _wake up_
This makes me so sad ugh
Because I have played Minecraft since I was a little kid, every time I hear any of these songs they instantly bring me back to times where I am playing Minecraft with my friends. It is a nostalgic feeling of that I will have attached to this great game for the rest of my life.
I remember when I was 7, I played Sweden for my Piano Recital

I’m a little sad that Alpha wasn’t mentioned here; I think it’s one of the best tracks in Volume Beta, however I’m glad you talked about The End. I never was particularly fond of this track just because of the white noise, but after hearing another opinion, I kinda like it now!
Minecraft is one of the things that I hold quite close to my heart and It always calms me when I hear its music! I want to personally thank you for making this video!
Exactly! When I played Minecraft for the first time, I had so weird, interesting and unexplainable feeling. I'm sad that I've never experienced this feeling again...
Actual title: how one man made a generation cry
The soundtrack that plays when you're in creative mode is the most nostalgic to me. I think that's just because I've always preferred that mode when I was younger.
Cat is and will forever be the anthem of my childhood. I remember playing it all of the time when me and my brother completely overhauled and reconstructed a village from the ground up together. I was hardly any good, given my young age, but it was fun and I’ll always look back so fondly on it.
Shame you didnt mention taswell, Its one of the most interesting tracks i've ever heard
What an anthem that track is, easily the best of the creative tracks
Dude, you are the only person I have seen on the internet to gush about the track "The End". That track is an absolute masterpiece and I find to be deeply moving, thanks for bringing recognition to this grossly underrated soundtrack.
That's story of the horse Hit me hard...
God... i was not expecting to ugly cry after watching the end of this video. Too fast.
To quote Ferris Bueler’s Day Off:
“Life moves pretty fast.
If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
Thank you so much for this video.
Peace.
Gl in life mate :)
This is my favorite review of the soundtrack, purely because of his review/illustration of The End.
Wait is underrated, so is the nether music. The end song clearly has meaning, but it’s freaking irritating. The credits song sounds great.
Correct
Chirp isn't covered enough, me am sad.
I disagree with what you said about “The End” but everything else i agree with.
the end sounds like something the caretaker made
Ward is my favorite, when it hits that key change it's bliss

I actually can cry from the nostalgia these songs bring. I can explain the feel of it. It's just beautiful!
This is actually one of my favourite UA-cam videos. Even though I’ve heard all the songs many times the way you describe them is so well done. That end song literally gave me goosebumps even though I’ve heard it before
I remember playing on a survival world with a friend where we had reached the dragon fight and as he shot the dragon dead the beat drop of cat played
I don't know what i like more, either what the video is talking about or the survival gameplay in the background...
That end bit chilled me, not in like a scary way, just super powerful. Absolutely fantastic video.
"Aria Math" has to be my favourite
Although, "Living Mice" is a very close second
Theme of The End is just sounds of world ending and rebuilding, but rebuilding with flaws
The ending of minecraft is one of my favorite pieces of literature or just presentations of literature that I've experienced. It's utterly beautiful.
This music...why am I crying right now?
Suggestion: Understanding the MUSIC of EarthBound
Also, I never realized how great Minecraft’s soundtrack is. And I really liked how you correlated the gameplay footage with the music examples, great work Liam!
this in my 15 years of life is the only youtube video that made me cry
I am a veteran, in 2020, and well, this vid made me feel really Nostalgic, I mean I almost cried, all the good times I had in the game back then, I remember I was so excited to get it when I was little, just brings back the best memories, and I would ALWAYS, watch DanTdm XD, Hmm, Thank you so muxh for this vid bro, brought back many GREAT memories, just the songs made me feel this way, Like if u feel the same
I've lost count of how many times I've watched this video. I keep coming back to it. Much like Minecraft and its music.
...also, the more peaceful tracks sound even more amazing when it's raining : )
Its a asmr overload to me. So darn relaxing
I felt the nostalgia when you were in that cave in the beta versions
We actually dont deserve this man the way you explained everything the way you just made this whole video i cried so much the memories i have made and still as a old member of the community i come back to play minecraft with friends ty for making this ur a legend
"The End" song gives me chills and when it said Wake up in the credits I shUddereD
the fact that both bfg divison from doom 2016 and sweden from minecraft make me start to tear up is a testament to the power of music.
I have already watched a bunch of your other videos, but I never noticed this one. today it appeared in my recommended feed. the only thing I can say is thank you. it's so long since last I read the end screen in Minecraft, and I forgot what it said. hearing this is the best thing that could happen to me at this point. I have been suicidal for months now and hearing this positivity is really what helps. thank you. your channel is amazing. not only for me, but for many others. not only this video, but many others. God bless you
Minecraft has brought me the best of memories, the happiest time of my life was during the old days. What’s sad is that you can never make the same memories again, and when you grow old, so does the feeling of the emotion you once knew.
This music is immortal. It represents the past present and the future.its a timeless masterpiece that will never be forgotten.
"Sweden" will always mean a lot to me as it was the first song I remember hearing in Minecraft
9:32 I love the relaxing music being played over the torture that is that background footage
I can easily spend 15 minutes or more just listening to the "Mutation" track. It's empowering and beautiful.
The "The End" songs genuinely disturb me
Holy crap dude.
I had been playing this game for 6 years, and i learnt Sweden and Wet Hands on the piano, and it's the best thing to play while it's raining outside

Aria math is my favorite soundtrack, since it brings back memories of me flying around making huge builds.
It's rare that I comment on videos outside of my own but I just wanted to say that this video and the one on health's max payne 3 soundtrack were fantastic and id love to see more. This video genuinely made me cry and id love if you continued making videos about game soundtracks. The recent portal video is great too
"Beginning 2" Reminds me of when I first booted up minecraft legacy console edition. and I'll never forget that moment.
i have that exact memory too, it was the first game i got for my xbox 360. i sat there listening for at least 15 minutes, thinking about how much better the soundtrack was compared to the mobile version. (the mobile version's soundtrack is still really good, but it does not convey the sheer emotion conveyed by the xbox 360 version of the soundtrack)
My favourite is moog city beacause it reminds me of building ugly houses and contraptions on a superflat on the xbox 360.

I have to say that Lena Rane did a great job with the new nether soundtrack
I don't like it tbh... it just... isn't Minecraft, now as much as I hate it when people say that something isn't Minecraft, I'll just have to bend the knee here...
@@dantelawrence4676 It feels like Minecraft to me. I get the same feeling of dread I feel when C418's nether soundtracks play.
