    hi craig, I am confused between lightsail & digital ocean for magento 2 store set up. Please suggest which one is better in terms of performance. Also, is it good to create dedicated(remote) database server for magento at initial stage or should do later?. please reply me. Thanks! (BTW I belong to india & both services have server in india)

      Hi Raeen. I just had to Google "Lightsail" as I'd never heard of it before. I see it's an AWS service. Honestly, AWS have so many services I'm completely overwhelmed. So, I'm afraid I can't help you make a comparison there. With regards to your DB question, I looked into this myself on a recent project. It turned out, it wasn't worth splitting the DB away from the Web Server unless I was getting more than roughly 120,000 sessions per month. It's a great future proof setup, but it's so easy to change in the future that it's not worth the initial cost. But that's just my opinion and others will probably disagree.

      thanks Craig for the reply. It really helped me. I am going with DO as it is easy to manage & response time is better than lightsail. Also, as technology is changing everyday so it is not good idea especially for new business to create separate database.

      Try to setup your project in such a way that it is easy to redeploy on a new machine, such as by using docker, then you can go with the cheapest option and easily change later.
      I do realize this is an old comment.

    What fee do you pay to paypal and the other payment methods?

    • @DigitalstartupUk
      @DigitalstartupUk  7 років тому

      In the UK, PayPal Express Checkout charge a fee per transaction (rather than a monthly fee). They start from 3.4% + 20p. Depending on the higher volumes that you sell, this can come down to 1.9% + 20p. I'm not sure if it's the cheapest option, however consumers always feel confident about using PayPal so it's always worth having. You can find more details here: www.paypal.com/uk/webapps/mpp/express-checkout
