Especially if you want interactive websites with loads of full-blown applications running inside of the website. Just knowing WordPress alone might get you a job at a local newspaper for their online stuff or maybe creating a very, very simple advertising website for a small-to-mid size company. But making websites like Amazon.com or even Walmart.com, they are going to demand that you know more than just WordPress. Even major websites like UA-cam, Facebook, Blizzard gaming ect reply on coders, not WordPress guys.
To be clear, wordpress is not free because it's open source. It's free because it's GPL licensed. Open source simply means the code is not compiled or encrypted, so you have full access to modify it to your needs. Excellent video, though. As someone who has used Wordpress for years, designed many sites, and has his own web design company, this video is very misleading. First, while WP is indeed free, the templates (the design of your website) are not. Free is not free when it comes to these templates, and most of them can cost anywhere from $50.00 on up. The 'free templates' that one may find on various web sites have limited functionality until one pays for the full version. If one has only one website to design and get online AND has monies to burn on templates and plugins, then WP maybe for you. But for small website design companies (like mine) then you'd better be ready to charge a customer an arm and a leg if they want all the bells and whistles on a website. All I can say is, buyer beware.
I appreciate your feedback Danny 👍🏻 but the video is not misleading for one main reason, WP (the software) is in fact completely free. And there are several free themes and plugins that offer plenty of customization and control over your website. Yes there are plenty of paid themes out there that are fantastic, but not absolutely necessary to create a fantastic WordPress website. I wish you the best with your company!
