- Welcome to my review of the AFERIY Portable Power Station 2400W which has to be one of the cheapest high spec power stations out there, with features not found on models over double this price. I've been so impressed with Aferiy power stations I have powered my entire campervan from them.

I bought the older 1200ah one John and its brilliant for Viv-i-van. I found Afeiry to be a great company to deal with when mine came minus a cable. They sent one the same day and I got it the day after. Great review of both products. I've shared the link to the video with my sister who is after one for her van. Best regards- Kenny
Great review John. Thank you. Certainly mind blowing. Everything just right. Especially the overall weight for those of us not Mrs Atlas! Much appreciated. Best wishes always. Much love, Pam xx
I'm happy I found your channel. I bought a old camper van and theres one dead agm battery with some old inventer. I wanted to get a bluetti ac200max and hook it up with the victron like you did on your other video. Happy i cam a cross this channel. thanks
Oh this one has everything, good one to have as a back up as you said, thank you for the reviews, more to ponder😏🤙
Thanks for that John. Really helpful. I'll be looking for something like this to boost capacity in the motorhome off-grid in the winter. 👍
great review thanks John, the good and bad is what we need to know.
Bought the earlier one after your recommendation, then that video disappeared. Happy with it and bought a 100w solar panel....just need a van now!
The older aferiy video review is still online, but the discount code no longer works.
Great review again John. These are a really great price, very tempting….. Still 6 months off getting our van, so I’ll wait to see if they bring a bigger battery version out. 😊👍🏻
I was wondering how long wound the battery last if plugged into the hook up point. I dont understand electrical things. I would only use the 12v fridge mabey a projector for watching tv and a actfri. Thank you
Thank you John
I'm seriously thinking about buying one of these to power a CPAP machine when we're off grid
Good review John, thanks. I'll admit to being sceptical of these power banks when people started being given them, but you've convinced me to consider one in our van. Cheers 😊
Tread very carefully if using Aferiy…. awful customer service and not in uk
Ordered mine in the UK via Amazon and had amazing customer service and updates even a thank you for ordering message.
Very interesting review - thanks. When charging from the vehicle, which socket do you connect the 12v to? Is it the same cigarette socket that is also used as an outlet? Am I right in saying that this powerbank enables simultaneous powering of the vans 12v fixed wiring (lights, outlets etc) via the XT60 outlet, whilst also being charged via solar via the XT90 inlet? Is that fairly unusual for powerbanks (I don't think I have seen this on others)?
Does it beep incessantly as the sun goes down while the solar is still connected?
In it's prior iteration that I returned, the relay would click and beep and was so annoying when the solar was at the cusp of charging it at sundown and sunrise.
What would be really helpful mate, for me and a fair few others I think…When you do these powerbank reviews to put up some kind of tick list or spreadsheet page comparing between others you have/reviewed/tested.
Price/size/weight/inv max watts/use while charge/charge time/max solar etc… plus most important bit..your rating from 1-10 etc. the “GJR” scale👍🏼 especially on things like extra features and geeky stuff you like.
There’s so much on the market now and i value your opinion. Just an idea, maybe ask in a vid what others think? Cheers John 👍🏼 Atb Ant
Super video John👍
Good review John 👍
Great Review John 👏 thanks
Dude! You are amazing if aferiy dont put you on the pay roll! I was so mixxed up between this and another brand we all know its Jackery.
I watched your video and you spoke so people wpuld understand so i basiclly ordered on your word and sir you was absolutely spot on its an amazing machine from an amazing company and service.
Glad I could help!
That's interesting John, my idea would be to drop a power bank into the van, make a 12v connection as in your fuse box example, 240v, solar input etc. Looking at other units the ability to do your 12v connection seems to rest with a cigarette lighter output, you would have thought more units would have more robust connection options, unless I am looking in the wrong place.
I like this one, but I would have the unit hidden away in the only space left and not being able to turn 12 or 240 on remotely seems to rule this one out for me, but cracking review.
Hi john. Great review but, something ive noticed in all solar panel reviews, nobody mentions are the panels waterproof? im assuming all folding panels are of the same construction. Cheers.
Hi John,do you keep a note of money spent and mpg ? and can you share !!!!!
Thank you 👍👍👍🏴🇬🇧🇨🇦
Thanks for pinning my comment John. Could I ask when you review another power station can you show how it would fit between the front seats or behind (in front) of them when swivelled as we all have different van layouts. Cheers Michael.
John awesome review!
I acquired this product and when charging it via AC input it begins to charger, you can hear it then fizzles out. Any idea what may be wrong? And /or any other alternative ways to charge it up or is the internal battery dead?
Thanks in advance!
My advice is to contact the manufacturer for support, I’ve not experienced the issues you mention.
Hi John do you still have to have earth the system if you use that power bank to run your van
Don't know anything about these power stations many thanks in advance
I recently made a video all about earthing in a campervan so it’s worth watching that.
Hi John, great vid and presentation, just a question about using this system for when we have power cuts at home. Currently I can use a max 2700 petrol generator which I want to change to battery…what drawbacks do you see eg. Earthing?? Thanks Mike
Petrol generators are pretty basic and don’t have an earth, so anything is better
@@GadgetJohn Thanks John, I'm hoping when I look at the spec on the Aferiy it will meet my needs for the fridge freezer, Wi-Fi router and of course the tv and boxes which I can currently run on the 2700 generator….thanks again from a Manchester lad now living in Norfolk…cheers Mike
If it's in Power saving mode after 30 min, will it start automaticly if my fridge kick in?
How is the noise leven when charging and discharging?
It’s silent when charging from 12v or solar, the unit powers on as soon as it starts to charge.
I have a Hymer Merc 1992 van. Can I simply plug the hook up into the ac of the Aferiy and power van from there ?
Yes, for battery charging, but be mindful of using the power bank to power your mains appliances.
Great review, do you prefer it to the Allpower one you reviewed the other day? I was impressed by that too so am confused now as they both sound great bits of kit.
I noticed the solar panels look like they have a fabric backing, I'm guessing that's waterproof?
Thanks again, Rich.
Yes I do! Prefer this, that’s why I’ve got it installed in my van now.
Hi John, thanks for another very informative vid. When using the XT60 output, when can I connect to my installed 12v system? Should it be wired directly to the 12v leisure battery and if so, will it cause an issue if that battery tries to send 12v to the Aferiy? Sorry if silly question, I’m very new to this..
cheers.
You’d use the 12v from the power station to power your camper instead of having a leisure battery.
Thanks. I’ve already got leisure battery setup so I’ll need to work out a way how to switch from that to the power bank. Thanks.
Hi John
From your recommendation we have bought eferiy 1200w power station. Which is ample for our needs. Really pleased with this product Unfortunately the 200 w solar panel is out of stock. Could you advise please another lightweight panel which is compatible or should we wait for it to come back into stock.
We enjoy all of your vlogs thanks very much
I’d wait for it to come back in stock as all the others I’ve used are much heavier and not as robust.
Hi John, I just received my Afreriy 2000w and solar panel. Aferiy have been excellent
A question please I need a cable extension to reach from my campervan dash to the power bank, Afreiy's is only one metre
I am so worried about getting the wrong cable. If I get a male to female connector ( xt90) that is 14 awg ( as thiers) or thicker will this be okay / safe
Regards Howard
Hi, this is the cable we use to extend the solar panels reach amzn.to/496NSEN
@GadgetJohn Brilliant thanks John, much appreciated.
does it have a built in charge controler in order to connect to any solar panel directly?
It does have its own built in charger so you can connect the solar panel directly to the power station.
Thanks John.@@GadgetJohn
Hi John looks a great bit of kit such a shame about the lack of app, did you notice while testing if it uses much power if the unit is on but not using any outputs, stand by mode if you will, thanks
I leave it powered on all the time and just switch on the output I need when I need it and I’ve not seen it drop the %remaining at all
Is overload protection button on aferiy supposed to be loose when you press it?
If it goes into overload protection the button pops out, you then press it back in to reset it, therefore the button is supposed to be free to move.
@@GadgetJohn thanks for your response.
Hi John,
Watched this a few times and now thanks to you got one coming this week.
When you pointed out it can be used as a hook up, did it work well for you? Also, my van is a coach built VW T6 so had all electrics ready setup of course so in view of this, do you know if using the Aferiy may cause any issues as obviously it will be sending only 12v to the vans current 12v setup which is expecting 230v as I don’t want to blow anything?
Tia.
If you use this as hookup that means plugging your 240V from the van into the aferiy just like you'd do on a campsite. If you want to use the aferiy 12V to power your van then you'd need a switch to go between the leisure battery or aferiy 12v as you shouldn't have both connected at the same time
Thank John, very helpful as always. Cheers!
Good argument to move away from batteries in mohos!? But can you dc/dc charge it from alternator?
You can charge it from 12v, solar or mains 👍🏻
A lot of people are running an inverter from main van battery to charge such power banks fom 230 when driving. There are videos also showing how to charge them from B2B when driving through the solar charging port, although inverter looks the easier way as your not messing round trying to fool the unit into thinking you are charging via solar?
@markford4328 so you can connect an inverter to the main starter battery and rapid charge the powerbank ? That's a game changer !
@@user-sx9cy7lu9l you can also connect a b2b to main battery and charge it through the solar input. Have search on youtube for the various methods to determine which is the best and safest way for you
go0od vid thanks lee
Hi john can you charge the AF P210 and use it at the same time. THANKS 👍
Yes you can! 👍🏻
Hi John I bought this model recently and agree it is great value. When using it to charge iPhones we found it turns off after around 30 minutes, have you noticed this issue?
If there is no power going in or out then it’ll go into power save mode.
Hi John, are you still in the Manchester area ? Is it possible to meet for a chat /advise 🤔 I'm new to being full time vanlife and with winter on its way could do with the help !
Regards Rob
I have brought a Aferiy 1200w power supply, would I be able power it up with a Aferiy 400w solar panel?
Thats probably going to work, but check the product spec for the maximum solar it’ll work with.
Thankyou so much John
Hi John, just missed speaking to you and Mandy at the NEC yesterday, gutted. However, I am looking for a generator to power our motor home Rapido 696F for a few weeks at our daughters place as we can’t get mains power to it at the moment. I know power banks are the so popular these days but as we don’t really do off grid I thought a generator would be the way to go. Have you any recommendations ie make, power etc? Keep up your excellent videos.
This power station is great, but you don’t say what power you need or for how long
Hi John thanks for the quick reply. We will be running heating and fridge, possible air fryer or one pot cooker, hair dryer occasionally obviously not all at the same time, lights and tv off 12v. Would this powerbank manage us if we charged it every day.?
As long as it's not electric heating then the rest is fine.
So it wouldn’t run our truma heating at 1800w. I’ll have to rethink.
Would the Ecoflow Delta max allow us to use the heating.
How long to charge from 12v ?
That’s easy, work out the amount used, say 50% would be 1000 watt hours, to charge at 12v is roughly at 100watts, so divide the amount to be charged by the charge rate, in this example it’s 1000wh by 100 watts which would mean 10 hours of charge from 12v
Thanks John, is there a way to charge them quickly when on the move via starter battery?
Followed the link John, odd that it says "does not include car charging cable" which I would have thought many (inc myself if I bought one) would use to top up whilst travelling? Amazing how the battery capacity is increasing but the form size isn't by as much. Liked the spark reference :-)
I’m going to be talking about ways to fast charge power banks from the starter batter in a future video.
Oh, OK.
👍🚐🚐😎
🤔
Really?
What’s up Roger?
I have the 2400 and the 500 solar … so far I have to say support from Aferiy is poor to non existent….. you cannot call them and all you can do is email which no one replies to…
Did you use my amazon link? If so you can get support through the seller.
@@GadgetJohn no I didn’t…. sadly I purchased direct from Aferiy….
