Thankyou for being such a good teacher! Honestly, the amount of videos online that "explain" this model and yet don't even bother to explain the concept of working memory is actually shocking! I wish I had just come to your video first.

I know these videos are intended for IB Psychology students but I'm an instructional designer and finding these videos very enlightening. Thank you for sharing!
This was really helpful I’m doing a degree and the working memory model was the thing I struggled to understand.as a person with ADHD I struggle with executive functioning lol so it makes sense now
Hello from England. Great explanation. I was ready to rip out my hair until I came across this video. Do you have a similar video on the Multi Store Memory Model?
the bit where you said you guys may be checked out but your CE is telling you to listen because you have a test tomorrow--- I was shocked cuz thats exactly what just happened. that called me out.
Thanks for this resource. Can I just ask, is reading text processed by the phonological loop or the visual sketch pad, since it seems to involve elements of both (verbal processing and visual processing)? Cheers.
That's a great question. I think it would depend on what you're reading and why. If you're reading a novel and using your imagination to picture the scene, this is visuospatial. If you're reading text and can hear it in someone else's voice (e.g. sometimes I do this when reading a poem), it's phonological loop. Remember it only becomes working memory when the words come off the page and you are thinking about them - if you're just reading text like this and it's easy to comprehend, this isn't working memory it would be information processing. The question you've asked is a PERFECT example of critical thinking.
@@ThemanticEducation Hey! You said "if you're just reading text like this and it's easy to comprehend, this isn't working memory it would be information processing", but I hear your voice as I am reading your comment. Would that not be working memory in the form of phonological processing?
@@niryenzina2205 perhaps it depends how hard you have to concentrate. Working memory is information held in our CONSCIOUS attention, so if you're deeply focusing on the content and consciously holding hte information in working memory, then yes (different, for example, to hearing a song in the background). but these grey areas are excellent critical thinking.
@@ThemanticEducation Thank you so much! I just discovered you a couple of hours ago and I am SO grateful I found you so early into my IB experience(may’22 student). You and your channel have already been extremely helpful and I will DEFINITELY be applying this knowledge to my studying/exam preparation
I do not understand why your videos have so little views! You are amazing!
Thank you! I guess it takes time to build an audience. I'm just pleased they're helping at all.

THANKYOU omg
My tutor asked me how levels of processing contrasts to the WMM and MSM. I could not understand it. What is she asking? Help me, please
Perhaps ask your tutor to clarify what they're asking?
