I love seeing any of these black and white sitcoms from the early 60s. Brings back lots of memories. Keep thinking my mum and dad were sat watching this. Miss them so much.

I've always thought Audrey was beautiful. In the colour episodes and George and Mildred
But she's even more so here. When younger.

Terry's character much more upbeat and positive here than in Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads.

Yes I noticed Geoffrey Hughes as well. I knew he'd died but I checked to see how long ago. What was more interesting to me was he was 68 and died from prostate cancer. I'm 67 and had my prostate removed in November due to prostate cancer. I had the results of my blood tests yesterday and it's all clear for now. It does focus the mind a bit. Whilst I was finding that out of course his role as Onslow in Keeping up Appearances. Looking at that made me wonder if Judy Cornwall was still alive. She is and she's nearly 82. Seeing pictures of her when she was younger cheered me up a bit. 🙂

Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view!"
Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam."
Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!"
Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..."
Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!"
Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky."
Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction."
Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"

The final joke in this episode is stupid because the character had already had a shown and in depth medical examination so suddenly being diagnosed as having flat feet was absolutely unbelievable.

I have only be able to watch two of The Likely Lads. Superior to the follow up "Whatever. .". I wish I could see all of the first run. Bewes was much more upbeat than in the second series and comes over as a better actor in the first run.
