The longest 56?miles runs parallel to that track about 30 miles south called the Alliance Sub now a short line.
Shit I wish we could go that fast, 20mph is track speed most places in northern BC, but we also have up to 4% grades, 10 miles long with curves, tunnels and bridges, so 60per you'd be in the woods
Wow the sound of the engines. And the horn. A freight train can go fast here. It s all dead flat. I ve seen a video in France for a passenger train with the snow and the diesel sound. Going 140, 150 km/h,. That's 90mph.. Flying.
I wonder why that screeching metallic sound so prevalent on EMD locomotives (3rd gen and 4th gen mostly)? What's causing that? Do GE locomotives have that rubbing sound also?
I thought CN had a very strict no electronic policy..phones, cameras etc as not to get distracted...at least that is what I have heard...maybe I am wrong?
Most likely. Many of the CN detectors didn't give axle counts back when this video was recorded. Maybe they have since been upgraded. Thanks for watching! :)
@@chrisvazquez7 I have yet to see and hear this specific detector in person but I’m very certain they all say the axle count now at least along the wainwright sub
chrisvazquez7 oh wow, seeing this video has brung back so many memories for me. Even the sound of the engine and the slightest click when passing over frogs. I was a conductor for BNSF until I quit 5 years ago. I worked the road for nearly 14 years, it was a tough life being on call. But, there’s life after the railroad. Hope you found the same.
@@JRafaelG At CP it's been a dismissable offence since about 2010/11 to be using an electronic device ie: phone while on duty. Not sure about CN. Maybe that's why he no longer works for CN! 🤔
Ahem...level crossings--This fellow didn't space the whistle blasts properly. First long; beginning at the "W"--correct. Second long...he waits until he's almost on top of the crossing. Man I so don’t miss those squeaky Ace’s. That makes for a trip lol.
This unit has a beautiful Canadian tuned K3. Thanks for sharing. Very sorry to hear you are no longer with the railway.
I think it's actually a K5L or K5H. I thought it was an ex-BCOL unit at first. lol
Why isn't he?
@Paul Spomer Ah.
@@youraveragejoe2 Because he was smart!

God bless.

I wish you could have filmed the train going over the Battle River Tressel. That would have very neat
A whole different perspective. My Uncle and GrandFather operated for CN.

Great video. That was a long straight track.
Very enjoyable.
I love trains and you are good at what you are doing and nice train horn
Horn sounded pretty good
Great Shot Man i liked the video and subscribed with the bell stay safe
I love it. It would be my dream if I was the engineer
Sounded like a steam engine horn for a sec there xD

aldean29 independent cab mounts
Guess that would drive me mad ifbi were an engineer.
Fantastic video! Love it and more coming some more of videos! 😊
I’m guessing this is CN 8891 telling by the K5LLA that sounds an awful lot like a bcrail K5L!
I know that horn!!! I caught a K3L like that one on 5405. It had a #1, #2, #5 bell arrangement.
@Paul Spomer If anything, it’s a K5L. No 3A or 4A or 1L bells heard.
Oh man that squeak, no whisper cab here
How do you get all the cab rides

Only curve in that track is due to curvature of the earth.
VIA Passenger speed here is 80mph
Any idea why the detector didn’t say the axle count? Older version maybe?

Needs WD-40.
They are designed like that to keep the crew awake.
Wow!!! 10 stars!!

Why are signals not called out?
A definite rule violation!
How does engineer know whey to start blowing horn for crossings
There are signs with a W that are a 1/4 mile from each crossing. The W stands for whistle.
Thanks
Wow thanks... I learn something today... I've always wondered that too... Be blessed!!
Gives the illusion of being much slower, doesn't it...?
What Unit number were you in?
CN 8806 (SD70M-2)
What is the locomotive model?
SD70M-2
60 mph???
SD60F?
It was CN 8806... not sure about the model...
8806 would be an EMD SD70M-2
