Hey Ian. Loved the video. I am from England now live in Canada. I know Brighton very well. Spent many years there . I am into strawbale over here and have done a few courses. Now I am building my own. Just bought some land so going over my plans. Quick question with the infill. Where would you put the studs or framing. You showed 4 options. I thinking of windows and how to attach aswell?? Thank you and maybe if you see this you might want to a busmans holiday over here. If I had stayed in England I am sure we would have worked together

I had the same question - with timber frame where does the framing for windows and whatnot go? And electrical and plumbing in strawbale walls?

That's where you must know what yr doing before you start. What's yr floor plan? Where is your plumbing needed? Both into & out of the house. The electric. What about the type of finished walls inside? You could decide what size windows as you go but, you have to know WHERE they go, at what height, leave space, & framing them in as you go is best bcz some bales will need to be split & retied. Framing holds them together bcz you just cannot tie them as tight as the baler does! Also, the floor. Cement slab or wood? Those plans are quite different. Slab is faster but, you have to have your entry elevated unless you live in a very dry area.
But 1st. Is the perimeter going to be timber built or are the bales going to bear the load of the roof?7th That's two very different processes from the ground up!
Many details to know well before you start so, I can't stress enough that it is so-o well worth the investment & STUDY of some good instructions! Which you can find here on UTUBE. Will save you some costly, frustrating, time consuming, & maybe expensive errors/mistakes!
Lotsa luck & good goin.... .
