Meet Gorda! Gorda is a playful 4 year old boy with a lot of energy! He was surrendered to our shelter in July because his owners were moving and could not take him with them. Did you know that black dogs are less likely to get adopted as quickly as light colored dogs? There are several reasons people believe this is including the fact that they're harder to photograph, it's harder to read their facial expressions immediately, black dogs are commonly used as frightening portrayal in TV and movies (think Hound of the Baskervilles or The Omen), and adopters think they're just too "generic". Help end the stigma today and show Gorda some love!
