In the draft of ideas I had for Legends that I was considering sending to the devs had the B-65 as the Japanese Legendary cruiser project, with the earlier, slightly weaker B-64 project as a Tier VII premium. Still, it is nice to see the Japanese Super Cruiser Killer in game and also this was a great showcase of the ship's strong points and weaknesses as well. I presume they'll be a Shima and Khaba video in the future soon as well?
Glad to see someone else is using Yamamoto, that was my first thought when I heard 'Japanese heavy cruiser'. If gameplay was more consumable dependent, I would go Mikawa but I don't view this ship that way. Guess we'll find out when I play it :)

My first game I got 142k damage in it! I’ve been playing PC as well and are a CA player on Pc. It excites me to see these CA’s coming to legends. I wish the Hindenburg made it to legends, that’s by far my favorite ship to play. The Azuma is a good ship though too to play in my opinion. Just wish it had that KM AP dmg!

This ship should had its reload and traverse like its PC counterpart but probably her tougher sistership Yoshino which it does have torps and a bit more health might be on par with her PC counterpart.
My first time in the Azuma was on that map and when I started I was spotted and two Yamato’s and a Baltimore focused on me and I lasted a whole 22 seconds in the game before I was dead
Azuma is a long range sniper unlike the Alaska that enjoys getting up close. The main appeal of the Azuma is its great guns however it’s armor is very subpar, with every kind of HE shell being able to penetrate its deck armor resulting in high amounts of dmg even from lower tier ships. AP is also highly effective against this ship and is why it has the most amount of health for a tier 7 cruiser at 52,500... simply because it needs the health as it doesn’t have the armor... they also buffed the heals for the same reason. If you get this ship keep in mind rushing in will get you killed, it’s low DPM but high alpha makes it a sniper accompanied with its poor armor makes brawling difficult. So it’s defiantly a luring ship similar to other IJN cruisers.
Its a mini yamato. And its good for kiting too as spartan showed. People go off by other player judgements on this ship already saying its bad 😂 Those players need to learn to play. Coz this is definately not a bad ship. My 1st game was bad.. i had to feel out the ship. 2nd match i broke 100k damage with 4 kills and 200k silver in the pocket 😏
Martin Manley well it’s defiantly a good ship if played correctly, the armor is compromising though as BB’s will tear through it at almost any angle. I mean again any ship is good if played well and this is no exception. It definitely has potential whether or not ppl will understand that and fully utilize it is up to them... tired of ppl rushing in, getting themselves killed and then complaining about the ship needing a buff lol

I seem to have bad luck whenever I use Yamamoto for any Japanese cruiser, as a majority of my AP shells overpenatrate even when my opponents (primarily cruisers) show full broadside. Is there something that I'm missing, or do I just have bad aim?
Wargaming needs to change the gun sounds. More than half the ships in the same have the exact same gun sound, regardless of the caliber. Just a little frustrating

Just play a little everyday , you can track your achievements and requirements with the campaign tab. I think it's like 5 or 10 bucks to buy into the campaign and you get double the perks and the ship at the end of the rainbow.
Almost got the range to 20Kms with reload station, at that kind of range as long as your faster than your target(Looking at you battleship players) I just burn down most of the ships I encounter, also has good concealment so that makes it great for hitting and running.
Thats due to our playstyles! Also why it is great to have multiple viewpoints. As a primary Battleship captain I like it but Tbull as a primary cruiser captain dislikes because its not cruiser enough for him. Neither of us is wrong. It's just that certain ships fit certain playstyles better

Depends on the engagement if the Azuma got a broadside shot at them with AP it could definitely match my Alaska shot the other day but if it was 1 v 1 yeah any of the Legendaries could probably take out the Azuma
So when me and my buddy first looked at this when the season came out we thought it was a battleship looked at it stats and we thought it was a terrible battleship but then I noticed the cruiser symbol now I’m like so did they take the weaknesses of both the cruiser and battleship the slow reload speed and size of a battleship with the large citadel of a cruiser
The main problem of tier 7 cruisers lately - you get into Legendary matches too often. And if a ship sucks - like Azuma - it suffers. Wichita is tough, agile and has radar. Hipper has torps as well as other cruisers. Azuma just barely survives...

You picked the wrong commander for the ship. I play the azl Atago But their is a regular commander that is equal to the Atago one. I don't Want to pick it bc I like the extra AP Pen. But Would rather have turret traverse bc its way too slow.

Maybe thats coz you encounterd unskilled players. Dont judge a ship by others playing it. If i had to judge the yudachi by seeing it in the hands of other players, it would be the worst destroyer 😂 Never ever have i encounterd a yudachi finishing anywhere near the top of the leaderboard.

Haha sunrises are pink here sometimes too but in game it just over saturates the screen and washes out details

One particular complaint of this ship is its total service cost which it can go as high as Legendary tier territory and its ridiculous.

Azuma is not a legendary tier ship here because a better version of her with torpedoes exists in PC, she is called Yoshino.

What’s sad for us as players is even though Spartan had an amazing match he would have lost silver if not for premium. That’s crazy to me...makes you not want to play tier 7 at all
