- Denzil has been asked (in welsh) to present a lecture at the Welsh Institute of Wood, but unfortunately his suit is in a bit of a poor state, so to speak...
This is a clip from the Channel 4 sketch show Absolutely, written by and starring Pete Baikie, Morwenna Banks, Jack Docherty, Moray Hunter, Gordon Kennedy and John Sparkes:
If you enjoyed this clip, please buy the Absolutely Everything DVD Boxset - available in shops now and online.
I do not own this programme - this video is solely to promote the series and the actors and writers who star in the clip.
Why the hell wasn't John Sparkes a big star in the 80s. A bloody comic genius.
He was and still is in our house!
What's it to you, Aberystwyth-face?
"I look like somebody from Llanelli.........."
Bloody genius what a talent these 2 were new comics watch and LEARN 😄😄😄😄👍
This is the only occasion I can think of where Welsh was used in a comedy sketch to such effect. :>)
The reading of that letter remains one of the funniest moments in comedy for me!
God, I miss that programme :(
So glad the Aaaaaaaaaah’s were put in subtitles or I wouldn’t have understood this one!
I can still recite this Welsh monologue word for word. Gotta be 30 years now!
Welsh might be the oldest joke going....but at least we started it :) not many nationalities will laugh at themselves....though we have always had plenty of source material
Cracks me up every time 😆😆😆😆 genius
welsh subtitles that are a fuuuurssst
Don't you mean the Velsh Institute of Vood
The letter W says "oo" in Welsh, hence the "oo-elsh institute of oo-ood" joke
And a-wut in SWANSEA are oo on about mun?
quite frankly, and quite malcolmly, and quite trevorly, i just haven't got time for all this abergavenny
