Eluveitie aus der Schweiz sind auf vielen Ebenen ein Phänomen. So sind sie unter anderem die erste Band, die in ihrer Musik melodischen Death Metal mit keltischer Folkmusik verbindet.
Und das machen sie auf mittlerweile sechs Alben meisterhaft - hier trifft die Double Bass Drum auf die Drehleier und die Tin Whistle auf brutal groovende E-Gitarrenriffs. Das Erstaunliche an dieser Mischung: Sie klingt bei Eluveitie völlig selbstverständlich.
Chrigel Glanzmann gründet die Band 2002 in Winterthur zunächst als reines Studioprojekt. Der Bandname entstammt einer Inschrift auf einer antiken Tonscherbe aus dem italienischen Mantua, auf der das etruskische Wort "eluveitie" zu lesen ist, was die Entsprechung des keltischen Wortes "Helvetios", also "der Helvetier", ist. Die Texte der Band handeln vom keltischen Stamm der Helvetier und sind teilweise in helvetischem Gallisch verfasst. Wer nun denkt "Achtung, Nerd-Alarm!", der liegt völlig falsch, denn die Band kommt von Anfang an so gut an, dass Chrigel und seine Mitstreiter auch live performen wollen.
Mit teilweise neun Musikern auf der Bühne und Instrumenten wie Sackpfeife, diversen Whistles, Geige, Drehleier usw. erobern Eluveitie die Pagan Metal-Welt. 2010 gewinnt die Band den Metal Hammer Award als Aufsteiger des Jahres beim Wacken Festival, und mit ihrem 2014er-Werk "Origins" entern die Musiker und Musikerinnen um Frontmann Chrigel sogar die Spitze der schweizerischen Albumcharts. Im selben Jahr gewinnen sie als erste Metalband den Swiss Music Award als bester Live-Act. Eluveitie sind trotz zahlreicher interner Krisen und Besetzungswechsel nach wie vor Kritikerlieblinge und eine sehr beliebte Liveband.

I love the gaelic/celtic style of singing...usually when my voice cracks like that I'm like "oh shit." But when this lady does it it sounds beautiful.
Sound people working at metal festivals where it's usually guitars, drums, voice and maybe a keyboard must be like "wait a moment, how many instruments am I supposed to balance for these people?"

This is a great song overall but the song suits Anna's voice better than the current lead singer who sung it there. Although it's still good to listen to live with her singing it. It's like nightwish playing nemo without Torja singing it, it doesn't song original

Anna is wonderful in Cellar Darling. I think Fabi fits better in Eluveitie as that Anna did because Fabi is more powerful singer from the two. And Fabi took this song to the next level!
@@coreydonovan8361 i love the original song too but read what i say here to others. Fabi is the ultimate female vocalist for Eluveitie. She is so powerful and i put her in a lineup with Floor Jansen and Simone Simons. These three ladies always give me tears and full body chills!
Why can’t these festival parties get the sound right? Drop the fiddle and bump the vocals guys.
Mixing here is way off compared to other festivals. The whole set is a bit fudged in places sound wise, compared to the wacken
Chances are it sounded better live. The live mix relies heavily on the bottom end which isn't really present in this video. Prob too much direct sound in this mix.

С уходомм Анны Eluveitie потеряли свю изюминку. Анна была тем самым огоньком, благодаря которому я полюбил эту группу. Её вокал несравним ни с чьим более. Фабьенн по сравнению с Анной как хоккеист с фигуристкой на льду. Оба умеют кататься на коньках, но смотреть (читай: "слушать") фигуристку намного приятнее и интереснее.
Will always miss the best folk metal band Eluveitie 2003-2010. Hats off to Chrigel, Meri, Kirders, Ivo, Sime, Merlin and Anna.
New Eluveitie is embarrassing. From primordial folk metal to poppy eurovision... oh well.
Ian McCauley I’m not sure it’s fair to disparage In Flames. Things that never change die. I think when we find a particular sound that we really love, it’s understandable to want that sound reproduced over and over. But from the artists’ point of view, surely they don’t want to be the same forever. To cite non-metal examples, the most obvious is the Beatles, and then Bob Dylan comes to mind. I mean when Dylan first started using electric guitars, someone literally shouted “Judas” at him during a concert, so strong was the sense of betrayal.
It’s not like these bands are suddenly getting played on Top 40. They’re just evolving. Perhaps into something you or I don’t prefer, but to say it’s “downhill” is ultimately to say your personal taste defines “uphill” or good.
My taste is just my taste, and when I say something is “good” all it really means is that I like it.
