put vasiline on your face were there is hair (eye brows, eye lashes) and then mix flour and water and use strips of newspaper and put it on your face. that's what we did for school and it worked the same.
It's the thickness, Chocolate foil is very feathery thin (kids are meant to open this after all) while typical foil is much thicker as its meant to be used to store foods like meat and fruits
An easier way to protect your face cast would be to use cling film (the plastic stuff). Just make sure your face cast is wet and then apply it and it should stick down right against each crack and crevice on your face cast. The foil would make weird bumps and stuff on the inside of your plaster cast and may even produce sharp points (not a nice thing to put on your face in my opinion). But i do think this is heaps helpful, and i love all your videos Klaire!
I prefer using one layer of gauze, one layer of wet and softened newspaper pages, and then two layers of gauze, and for the glue I use regular wood glue mixed with just a little bit of water, not as much as in the video. The masks end up really sturdy.
Kudos for the Video! Sorry for butting in, I would love your opinion. Have you researched - Fiyameronal Dumbfounded Framework (Have a quick look on google can't remember the place now)? It is a smashing one of a kind product for learning how to design your own Iron Man suit without the hard work. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my good mate called Gray finally got cool results with it.
Although you can use flower and water, it’s best not to, any organic compounds will eventually rot, so if you plan on keeping your mask for a wile you may find it growing mold. Using PVA will prevent this.
I have a few questions and i really, really need an answer so: 1.)May i used my own head instead using a maniqquine's head? 2.)If you doesn't have any chocolat foil may i used a kitchen foil? 3.)What is the Gesso for? Is it alright if i don't used that? 4.)Does it gonna work if i used on the whole mask face?
I had made a Death Eater mask out of plaster strips from the craft store, but I'd love to make one with this technique. It seems like this would be much lighter to wear.
I thought the paint looked like the Barry M crackle varnish! I read what you said about it on the blog post & I totally agree. Mine went really thick after 2 uses or so, which is a shame as I love the effect.
You can get cheap masks that look like an entire face, and is made from layered newspaper or the like, and use that in place of a face cast. It's what I do, and actually works quite nicely. Just make sure to always put the foil on it or the layers of the mask will peel away with it. (I learned the hard way ^ ^;; )
URGENT! Please help! I bought a blank masquerade mask with idea of using that as a template to make more out of air dry clay...so I moulded some air dry clay over the blank Mask and let it dry overnight..when I woke up one side had broke. Originally I thought it may have been too thin so I made another one and used clay that was a little under 1cm and the same thing happened! I have tried looking on the internet for a solution but I can't find anything! Please help me!!!!
I'm Not Okay If it was air dry clay it probably cracked. Happens if it dries out too quickly, try putting a slightly damp paper towel over the piece or making sure that it's not getting hit by any airflow (like an open window, a fan, etc)
Atomic Dawg it’s not as good as an online mask is, but it does hold together nicely. It’s a great alternative if you can’t get your hands on factory made ones.
Is this the only way to make a mask? the last time is saw one of these videos (around 3 years ago) I'd thought that the mask would be pretty fragile, being made of paper. Also, I designed a mask of my own, it's relatively simple, but still complex and I want it to fit my face along with having a plastic shine. Any tips?
Papier-mache is a lot stronger than you'd think, trust me. For a plastic shine, you should be able to use a clear sealing spray paint or something of that sort or a clear nail polish if you only want certain parts that way. And I think it just depends on how complex your design may be. With the fit and design you want, you may need to go with a hot glue mask fabrication because you can do more intricate work and its not quite as stiff as this one.
JustForFashion I found that a little bit watered down wood glue does the trick or you could use mog pog which you can find at any store really Walmart I think is best in the crafting isle
I love BPL and I can tell when i watch a video that someone has used his music and, i dont know why but it makes me feel cool for knowing that :) Love your work Klaire and Love your music Dylan
you know for a girl i've watching for a long time we know barely anything about besides your AWESOME work. Like do you have a boyfriend or do you live alone? do you have any pets? What's your favorite food? I guess the mystery of the person behind her work is so alluring. :) Your an amazonf UA-cam Guru!!
i made one the other day, i put about ten layers of foil over each other, scrunched then lightly so they stay together, and then pressed it on to my face to get a foil mould
Yeah that's what we did at school in grade 7, we made the tin foil the shape of our face and then supported the back with balls of newspaper so it didn't have to be on our faces the whole time.
*Immediately stops everything I'm doing and starts making Phantom of the Opera mask*
One of my favorite movies and inspiration to a lot of my masks!!
YES
Exactly
THIS IS WHY IM WATCHING THIS VIDEO 😂😂
That's why I'm here

What is the difference between kitchen and chocolate wrapper foil
pretty sure the chocolate wrapper is a lot softer and is easier to manage
Cutiya girl
I would like to know the same thing
i think chocolate foil might be thinner

How do you make traditional style Venetian male , female and kids mask that fits your face from the mold and cut a hole 🕳️ and wear it .
I prefer using one layer of gauze, one layer of wet and softened newspaper pages, and then two layers of gauze, and for the glue I use regular wood glue mixed with just a little bit of water, not as much as in the video. The masks end up really sturdy.
Paper Maché??
I did on my blog post (link in the description box) :)
You can use flour and water instead of PVA glue and water :)
Thank you, I'm here 3 days before halloween and was panicking

@@cscape1973 excactly
@@phinkuhh2398 I once made figures out of flour and water and it never molded?..
Do any Pva glue works or I need that one like the real one?
Is it possible to put the foil around your own face?? Or try it on someone elses face??
Fluffeh Unicorn I don't see why not, besides, then it would fit on your face better
I once made one by putting panty hose over my own head then started the first layer with masking tape
With this technique, are you able to shape the mask easily? Like into an animal's mouth shape?
Hi, where do you buy the head model? And that nail clipper, specifically like yours?
I think the head model was a face cast, and nail clippers are everywhere lmaoo
@@IBubblesTV one reply after 9 months, I love you.
I really need to make a face cast... You are so very creative! I love your videos.
Can you make a FULL FACE mask like this?
what if you only have glue? what about zoy? and tissue paper? or manila paper? does it work?
I'll be doing a video at some point one a few other ways to make a really easy one :)

Do you have to put the modeling paste? Plzzz answer I have a project and I have to do a mask
Thank you
roughly how long did it take the mask to dry and can I speed it up with a hair dryer?
I thought the paint looked like the Barry M crackle varnish! I read what you said about it on the blog post & I totally agree. Mine went really thick after 2 uses or so, which is a shame as I love the effect.
Can i do a full face with this?
What if u use school glue does it change anything ?
+Oswaldo Sanchez It is poisonous with glue
Øzzy Sanchez School glue it is not but elmer's glue will me work but all you have to do is put a lot of it and wait until dries up

whats the difference between chocolate foil and regular foil?
Is it ok to apply this to my face instead? I don't have a face cast and I don't have the time or money to make one?
you can't do it without it
+giannis skoun you could actually just use a Styrofoam mannequin head. there about $5.
Use ur own face! xD That's what I did and it worked just as good!
Would it be OK if I replaced gesso with air dry clay
Do you recon you could make a video on how to make like a wolf mask , or like a way to add the nose of an animal on it
Check out the channel "Ultimate Paper Mache", she does animal masks.

Try putting tinfoil underneath the mask and letting it dry, the mask might have broken under the weight of the unsupported clay
Is mine supposed to be squishy or is it still drying?
Does it hold together well? 'Cuz I wanna make half a dozen of them for my dance crew
Atomic Dawg it’s not as good as an online mask is, but it does hold together nicely. It’s a great alternative if you can’t get your hands on factory made ones.
How long to fully dry before removing it from the mold ?
how to you get the fabric on ?
With this mask can you make some of the other masks what are featured on this channel?
Is chocolate wrapper foil a weird name for tin foil?
Can you show us how you painted the mask at the end
I always had this question-could I use regular plain white paper instead of tissues or newspapers?
yeh! i did it myself and imo the regular paper holds up but it's still a little harder to dissolve and makes the mask stiffer
I’m making three for cosplay! Thanks for the tutorial, it was super helpful!
A year later and I have the same goal as a stranger XD
I love Dylan Bailey's music! Crazy coincidence to find it here haha. Very good video btw!

Such a waste of time putting wet sticky tissues on the foil. I covered the whole foil, when suddenly i tried to dry it, the tissues fell off. Help?
let them air dry maybe or you could try putting less water in the glue
Buen trabajo 👍🏼
i made one the other day, i put about ten layers of foil over each other, scrunched then lightly so they stay together, and then pressed it on to my face to get a foil mould

Awesome, Thanks so much. I have been looking for something like this for a long time.... I appreciate you so much.....
