Hi thanks for the useful video! I have what I think is probably a silly question. I understand that the Pepwave can combine two different carriers (eg AT&T + Verizon), but would it be beneficial to have two SIM cards from the same carrier (eg 2 Verizon)? Thanks

That would theoretically give you twice the available bandwidth to handle more devices or faster speeds but with a single carrier you would lack redundancy if a carrier outage or cell tower saturation or issue occurred. Still better than a single sim and plenty of people have done this. Thanks for the question!!

@@CharlesLukoba yes the Transit pro e is a verizon certified device and will work with data plans designed for data only devices.

Any idea if this supports IP-Passthrough? I have the current (old) max transit duo and it does not support IP-Passthrough but is a feature I’m looking for

The old and new units support both IP passthrough, IP forwarding and a feature called drop in mode. IP forwarding is the most common if you want to just put this behind another firewall (not typically recommended as the multi-wan features of the pepwave typically are more advanced then the other routers in our experience). That said the setting is under and advanced configuration section but is supported natively on both the duo and pro-e device. On dashboard click details next to the wan connection you wish to enable forwarding on, scroll down to “Routing Mode”, hit the blue question mark and then click “enable ip forwarding” in the dialog pop up box to enable this feature. Note that with ip forwarding accessing the administrative console via the local ip may not be possible depending on your settings since youve asked the device to pass through the wan ip bypassing NAT so make sure to add to incontrol so you can access via cloud or enable admin over wan port which can be done via the system/admin security section. If you wish to use drop in mode or another feature those can be found in the user guide.

@@MobileMustHave I wanted to provide a quick note/update on this as it's been surprisingly confusing, even working directly with Pepwave. Pepwave's own documentation (if you look at their website where you can compare one product with another) clearly says that the Duo models have the IP Passthrough feature. This is incorrect.
Only the single modem devices (including the max transit line that is Not the Duo and others such as the BR1) have IP Passthrough. The Duo's only have IP forwarding.
Which kinda makes sense if you think about what it's purpose is, but still unfortunate it's so confusing including Pepwave's documentation. I have/had a Duo and I searched every menu/button for IP Passthrough, it doesn't exist.
I "upgraded" to the BR1 Pro 5G now though so it's no longer an issue, I never actually used both modems simultaneously so it was worth the upgrade :)
But wanted to clarify this in case anyone came across it.

    Eric does this do 5G?

    • @MobileMustHave

CAT-12 modems are 4G, if you are looking for 5G check out the BR1 Pro 5G located here: mobilemusthave.com/products/pepwave-max-br1-pro-5g?_pos=2&_psq=br1-pro-5g&_ss=e&_v=1.0 - note that if you want a dual modem device the Transit Pro E is likely your best choice though. 5G modems are single modem at this point (there are dual 5G devices like the MBX Mini but they will set you back north of 5k and require 8 cellular antennas on the roof so its not typically recommended for RV use especially since 5G isnt really much faster on the networks with the exception of TMobile in most places).
