- After visiting Galway , the Prime Mutton made a sudden decision to extend his trip, and made a spur of the moment trip to Limerick.
And well rewarded he was too by this decision because not only is Limerick a hidden gem for connoisseurs of Stout , with Beamish having quite a following here, but also by chance Mutton was able to meet and vlog with the worlds most famous Guinness reviewer, Daragh Curran aka the Guinness Guru.
Many of the best pubs in Limerick are so close together that it's the perfect location for a Stout drinker's pub crawl.
I'd say that the best pint I had while I was there was at Myles Breens

What a great City Limerick is , so many good pints to be had in great pubs that are all walking distance between each other, a must for pub crawls. Thanks to the pubs who were so welcoming , and it was such a please to meet Daragh , the Guinness Guru. He's a lovely guy and check out his vlog when it comes out soon.
Never knew you were coming to limerick I'm a huge fan as you know limericks my home town !
love the videos just seen your one with darragh he posted today was glad to hear your gonna head to Belfast
It's call King John's castle fella c'mon now don't be ignorant, do some homework on a city before you try and make it look like a ghost town, when that's far from the truth. Why didn't you go to the proper busy city centre part, like the busy Milk market area or the 101 bar or the always jammed packed The Round House bar in the Milk Market area?
The duo ive been waiting for, when two worlds collide! Legends
need to get out more so....lol
Just found the channel via Darragh. Great content, lads!
Been going to Limerick all my life, from a kid to earlier this year, travelling from England to stay with my cousins. This because my mum was born in Old Clare Street which is a road back from the Shannon.
I get as much delight going there now as I’ve always done as it’s engraved in my heart.
Fantastic pubs in the city and especially on the outskirts aswell, such as O’niells in Boher to name but one. I’ve been in all the pubs shown here and love them all. And they virtually all have a history of clientele, through rugby, hurling, tv etc! Great blog guys. Can’t wait to return 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
amazing coverage of the best city in Ireland!
Did you really think he showed off our city at its best? He didn't know anything about the city, like the castle is called King John's at least do his homework on Limerick first, and he made out that no tourist come to Limerick is he friggin' crazy or what the city got over one point seven million last year? Like I said he's clueless, man, like Limerick gets' more tourist than Manchester a year, but the big heavy hole boy wasn't to quick to say that fact was he? Oh, no, no siree.
And they went to Limerick on a bank holiday, and he went to the quietest areas of the city, like backstreets instead of going to the busier pubs down in the city centre like 101 bar or even the bars around the Milk Market, and the other Dublin fool saying he expected the tall city to be dead. Wow! Two fools, man, one is from crack city Manchester and the other is a dirty Dub. Like stay in their own lane I say, and he mentioned that the Dubs called Limerick stab city. Wow! what a joke he is to bring up some old-fashion stigma about the city, a stigma that was given to Limerick by the dirty scummy Dubs and it's nasty Dublin media over 20 years ago it's now called fab city but heavy hole forgot to add that bit didn't he? And I bit the Dub told him to leave that bit out of the vlog.
If you ask me, then these two had planned to do this nasty low class vlog about Limerick city, and their plan was to show the city from areas of it that are quieter so to make out that the whole city of Limerick is quiet, which is a rotten lie from both of them.
Nah, he and that smug dirty Dub can do one, Limerick doesn't need their smoke and mirrors vlog that's full of friggin' lies, just look up any American tourist vlogs that they film when they're in Limerick and you'll see them showing the real vibrant and exciting Limerick city that it is, like why on earth would they go to a city on a bank holiday? Unless you wanted to show it looking quiet, like go to Dublin, London even New York on a bank holiday and you'll find it quieter than usual, so that was their plan here in Limerick, so don't be fooled by this heavy hole Manchester twat or that dirty nasty Dub.
Limerick does have a bad reputation, but mostly from people who have never bothered to go there. I'm from Cork and I love Limerick. Great video again, Patsy Flannerys has the best Guinness in my opinion
Completely agree, I’m from Cork too but always have a great time in Limerick when up for matches
Ah stop it’s an absolute shit hole. 😂
Your point about hydrating is a good one. When we were in Cork and Dublin the other weekend, me and a mate put a solid number away each day - We were there Saturday, Sunday and Monday. A few bottles of Ballygowan assisted greatly!
Another boss video. Looking to visit Limerick on my next visit.
Another belter from the emerald isle, lovely stuff
Limerick has obviously changed for the better since my college days there in the early 80's. Back then my favorite pubs were The James Joyce and Durty Nelly's outside of the city .
My man. Always knew you were Irish. ☘️ you remember me. The TOON fan! You love Newcastle. And now Ireland. 🇮🇪 2 best places on earth. But sure you already knew that ;)
Very good, some nice proper pubs featured.
Fantastic. A trip back to Ireland is moving up my list of holiday destinations.
Herculean levels of drinking
Fantastic vlog mr mutton - top choice of pubs - love the back of Jj Bowles
This is awesome! What a power duo
Great Vide0 Prime mutton !! I have not been to Limerick in years, living in the States for 37 years but hope to visit back there some day !! Will visit all these pubs !! Thanks for doing the Groundwork !!
Great vlog, Mutton. Must get over to Limerick soon for a few pints of stout.
Love drinking in Limerick because they have a lot of unspoilt original bars that escaped being updated during the celtic tiger. The city's other plus point is it probably has the most out there live music scene in the country. Always worth checking Dolans, Pharmacia and The Record Room for gigs. I can still get a 5 euro Beamish in my local in Ennis. Like you say with the cost of living in Ireland at the moment having a few scoops isn't that expensive comparatively.
Great video pal
Loved jj bowles pub
Just found your channel Primemutton. Love the videos because we can tell you love what you do! Keep on enjoying :)
Nicholas street my favourite spot ,glad you enjoyed the pints
Myles and Fennesseys are my favourites in my home town . But if I'm in the city I always take a chancey pint at Tom Collins
Fantastic video Mutton, great collaboration 👍🏽
Great content as always mutton!! 🍺
Nice!
Nice.
marked a couple on my travel wish list!
Great video and look around again. I love Daragh I’m a BIG fan of both of you cheers 👍🍻slàinte 🍻
Thank you 🙏 , it was a pleasure to vlog with Daragh.
Nice one 👍👏
Was just outside Limerick in O'Neills in Bothar and what a pint of porter that was.
Wow 1982 your first visit to Limerick. It is, as you said, a far different place now. A lot better in most cases, but some character has gone too, inevitably.
Subscribed !!
I would absolutely love for you to visit Enniskillen in Co. Fermanagh, not just for the Guinness, but the food also.
Fair play, thanks for coming 😁
I have never had a bad night out in Limerick.
Then what's stopping ya? get a move on.
Another enjoyable video Mr. Mutton. Thanks for highlighting gluten free in your vlogs. I was diagnosed with coeliac disease a few years ago and my diet has to be free from gluten. I was an avid real ale drinker and indeed enjoyed the odd stout here and there but since my diagnosis it can be tough finding gluten free ales and stouts. I hope you continue to consider us sufferers of this condition and raise the profile of our quest for gluten free ales and stouts. Once again thanks and your efforts are so much appreciated
I’ll keep an eye out for Gluten free , and film when. I see them. Did you watch my previous film from the mad squirrel brewery ? I think there was a gluten free beer in that film as well (that’s off the top of my head so I may be mistaken)
@@primemutton
I did indeed watch your video at Mad Squirrel. Think you also tried a gf beer on a video earlier than Mad Squirrel, that's what initially pricked my ears up!!
@@primemutton !!!!AWESOME & Daragh is the PERFECT guest. I plan on visiting Limerick in September, 2025. 🙂
I'm proud to say I am 1 of your most recent subscribers.
Best regards from Yucatan Mexico,
Ben
Positive stuff from Limerick. Making me thirsty 😊
What a legend 🎉
Fennessy’s has the best pint in Limerick but never gets the credit it deserves because it’s just outside of town.
Buncrana in Donegal all the pubs there flattery’s a wonderful pint
Good man Muttoner! 🍻🎉
A man of solid timber .UTV
Never got to Mother Mac's? Missed opportunity. The Beamish is lovely in Tom Collins's too.
J.J. Bowles is one of my all time favourite pubs. I used to live right beside it.
What a pint and what a view!
What a hugely enjoyable video and to see Darragh at the end was the icing on the cake. All the black stuff looked fantastic and thanks very much for showing us the delights of Limerick.
Great video. I've lived in Ireland for the last 6 years, but Limerick has always been a City that I've passed through going to Galway, Kerry, Cork etc. Definitely need to change that soon.
Missing out kid
Don't bother mate, if you haven't done it by now then Limerick doesn't need your pity, it gets' over 1,7 million tourist a year so it doesn't need you, man, so you keep going to Galway it's fine.
@@ericfreeman273 unfortunately, it's the one place I can't convince my friends to go to. I was actually genuinely surprised how many Irish people I know rip it to pieces.
@@michaelstokes919 As I said, u don't have 2 convince anyone 2 stop off at Limerick, it's beauty alone should be enough for anyone 2 do that. Justst type in a walking tour of Limerick city and see it for yourself, or type in king John's castle on Google and you'll see the tourist it gets, so no need to beg any of your small-minded and outta touch mates to come to Limerick city, mate, it's doing mighty fine without any help from Ur friends 😭 like I said u just keep going 2 Galway, Kerry or wherever.
Perfect Mutton!
Luvin the shades,Guiness was created for all Mutton &Woganistas😅
We get Guinness on nitro taps here in the US but nowhere near the cream of those in Ireland. By the time we get a keg it’s 3 months on at least. Tasty but just no comparison. Gotta get back over there.
Shout out to crew lads gwannn
The two lads cheesing at the camera 🤣🤣🤣
Spread the word best city in Ireland, unless you want cruffins and pupachinos then go to Dublin or galway
There goes my hero 🍺
Have you ever accidentally eaten the glass😜
Dublin and Limerick have alot in common with all the Georgian architecture.
I have relatives down in Limerick Pallaskenry but I’ve never been out in da city itself will have to pay it a visit and that JJ Bowles looks great boozer👍Seen as your from Didsbury have you ever been to the Bowling Green in Chorlton?Great a Guinness😋
Yes I’ve been there pint was decent
This dudes bowels are gonna be exhausted after this trip
Head up to Mayo and Castlebar and Westport class Guinness in both towns😋
Ireland has gotten a bit expensive in recent times , mainly hotel prices , but i have to say the quality of the food and drink makes for a good experience.
Yes I have to agree , hotel prices are a big sticking point
Culzy is missed, lads!!
Rashers and Souths the best Guinness in Limerick imo
Going to have a sarsfield pint today I'm going to munster rugby game I'll try it
let us know whether you enjoy it!
@primemutton I will
Ive never had Beamish but it looks and sounds fucking incredible!!! Wish we could get it here in Australia
I understand their canned version excels as well
Casually splitting the G almost every time!
Nice, two of my favorite alcoholic UA-camrs teaming up!
pretty new to your channel but enjoy your videos mate.
i have to ask though, what do you do to fund this life style?, would love to do the same seems like a great life choice
Hi 👋 sorry I don’t disclose my employment
Limerick the Home hurling 😂
Watch on 1.25 playback speed, thank me after 😊
Well, that's sold Limerick to me and my mates, we've done all the other cities, but what is this "lacquering" of which you speak? £7 a pint in Mullys M/c.
Well a lacquered glass is usually tinted or coloured so I have kind of bastardised the word to talk about the white cream that sticks to the glass.
@@primemutton gotcha, I'll stick to shtick, the Gurus old phrase.
Mr Mutton, I have a question. I've noticed in the past 6 months or so that the standard Guinness glass has changed - not for half a year now have I seen the old format with the indentation. Any idea how the big G has managed to so comprehensively wipe them from history? Thanks in advance
Should add I much prefer the new glasses!
Not sure why they changed but it doesn’t matter too much to me what vessel I drink it from . In fact at the Merlin bar in Galway , the locals preferred straight glasses
@@primemutton interesting, I'm aware it's totally psychosomatic but I think the newer glasses add to the experience for me. There's no denying that Guinness is a stylish drink and I suppose the aesthetic of the pint is all part of it. Have a nice day!
@@AlexCresswellIsSoCoolthe aesthetics are indeed important , I wouldn’t want to be served a pint of porter or stout in a Stella glass
Patsy's the best of the best!
The Irish RD
Should visit Westport ,Mayo
Have been a couple of times but keen to film there
@@primemutton especially busy during the summer season with tourists , blousers, Matt molloy and morans all great spots for Guinness
Gerry Powers and Phil flannerys ,have the Best Guinness,in Limerick..
this fellow quaffs , he could enthuse me to drink Watneys.
Old Tel himself there off the old tiptoes
Limerick is a funny city. Hard to pin down but just lacking in good atmosphere/vibe. It has some nice spots but hard to recommend tourists to visit it. Lovely pubs all the same
Oh, really is that so? Then how comes it get's over 1,7 million tourist a year? Just shows ya what you know dosen't it?
@@ericfreeman273 I lived there for years mate.
@@ColmMulhall oh, yeah? Is that so? Then how comes u don't have a clue about the 1, 7 million tourists it gets every year far more than Manchester, mate. Or that its city gridlock was copped by Manhattan, New York, the city always had a great vibe maybe u haven't lived there for years but go back and take a look around mate you'll be friggin shocked like don't judge a city by a guy who visited some back streets pubs of the city on a quiet bank holiday and said so guys this is Limerick city, he's friggin lying.
@@ericfreeman273 just here for mutton and pints mate not a row 😭💀
U need to visit Wexford Town for Guinness trust me
I have been but would like to film there
Try the Pike and find umeg tattoos and beside it is a pub savage there too good luck much love from Ireland 🇮🇪
CREAM
Have you reviewed McGregors stout Mutton ?
Forged? Not in Ireland, thought it was a bit conservative in its flavour when I tried it in Britain
Ah jaysus. Stay away from that eejit.
Beamish is king
I’d say Dublin is worse for violence than anywhere in Ireland
100%, and I'm from there.
You ever been to Leeds, Mutton? I'm from Leeds and it's meant to be one of the worst big cities with regards to Guinness.
I have and didn’t really get a great pint anywhere
He seems like a broken man in this video, bags under the eyes, less enthusiasm in the voice, the Guinness has finished him off!
Very hard to take you seriously
Your over priced
What?
@@johnmc3862 love you lots
Limerick has a bad vibe!
No it's actually amazing usually. Did seem quite subdued here though I'll admit.
Oh, grow up! He went to the back streets pubs of the city, and he went on a bank holiday, what did you expect naked folk dancing on the bar counters is that it?
Try Donegal
