- In this wood turning video I turn a Hollow Form vase from a couple of Oak spindle blanks and some Wenge offcuts, I finished it with sanding sealer and an abrasive paste ..

The care you put into getting the grain to match in the dark wood makes this piece really special. 👏🏼
The way the grain lines up is stunning. Great work as always ❤❤❤
It's the rare and beautiful chocolate-striped urn. The grain patterns are beautifully managed and the classic simplicity of the shape lets the wood do the talking. There are wood turners all over the world shaking their heads at their own stupidity and trying to work out why they never thought of that. Your use of mixed and contrasting wood is one of your hallmarks and I love it.
It's gorgeous Andy. Very well done, as always. Thank you for sharing your talent with all of us. . .
At my high school we use a BBQ brush to spread the wood glue around (the ones used for spreading the BBQ sauce around) , It works great and gets even coverage. Nice video, keep on being safe!
Simple, yet so elegant and beautiful. Wonderful attention to detail with the grain.
Nicely done mate. Beautiful design Andy
Take care my friend and enjoy the Trekking
Cheers
Harold
The matching grain of the wenge pieces is the cherry on top of this elegant piece
Elegant. That is a very nice piece Andy!
Beautiful creation👍👍👍 . Thank you for sharing. Be safe🇨🇦
Beautiful, elegant
Thanks for sharing Andy
Cheers
Très jolie Andy bravo 👍👏
I really like the shape. And the grain is gorgeous. Good work Andy!
Many thanks!
Morning Andy ☕😊...Stunning!!!😍
Have a nice weekend.
Good morning! Thanks Kat
It's beautiful. Methinks "simple glue up" may be a bit of an understatement given how perfect the grains line up.
At 6.55 I was reminded I have my 6 month dental check up in a weeks time 😳
That aside, what a beautiful result Andy.
When looking at a finished product it’s easy to underestimate the long process of preparation ♥️
Ho hum. It's Friday and another masterpiece. Thank you sir!
That is so cool. I particularly like the lighter contrast within the Wenge wood itself paired with the Oak. Is it possible to do that but with the stripes spiraling up like a barber pole?
Beautiful beautiful work Andy as always, I was just waiting for you to put a lid on it
Fantastic job, Andy!!!
❤️❤️❤️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
...beautiful wood...beautiful shape...beautifully done!!!...👍
Matt
Love the design. When I saw the piece was assembled with a hole in the middle, I thought, well, it can only be a lamp base. Then you inserted the plug. Good video story-telling, with a twist.
Really nice, Andy. Great effect, too. Plus we had a chance to see some of your other skills in the prep work. However, I'm always suspicious of anyone whose shop is so clean (just kidding). Mine certainly isn't.
Bill
Whoa, very impressive, that turned out way more stunning than I would have thought in the beginning stages.
As always, excellent work, Andy.
Beautiful piece, Andy! Really amazing work! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Beautiful sir🖐🖐🖐🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩
Hello my Indonesian friend
Aaah. Mesmerising and what a turn it turned out to be.
Nice job on this project. Did you make a lid for this urn or is it a vase? Anyways keep up the good work.
The difference between an artist and any other person is having the imagination needed to visualize something which does not yet exist, and the ability to bring it into reality.
It's a great gift to be able to look at a log of wood and immediately have ideas for what it could potentially become with the right treatment.
It's always beautiful, but.....WOW!!
Lovely shape, beautiful and elegant!😍
So beautiful as is everything in all your videos
Mr. Phillip, you never disappoint. Beautiful work!
Others have said it and it will say it too, simply elegant!
You say simple, I say elegant!
It may have been a simple glue up Andy but the end result is so elegant and beautiful.
Take care Andy.
Cheers, Huw
Wow, what a result!! I think I know what I want to try this weekend...or at least some weekend after I get through all my other turning projects.
Andy, this urn had three stages to it. It started at Incredible, went straight to Sensational and turned out Magnificent! Bravo Maestro Bravo!!!
This is probably one of the projects I'd do to practice, simple to do and not complicated.
J'adore !!! c'est magnifique !!
That's a beautiful piece Andy. Even the end plug "fits" right in! !! !!!
so beautiful ❤🏴
Wow, that is so flippin nice! I absolutely love it.
Good morning Andy. That turned out great. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Colin👍
What a fantastic idea! Absolutely lovely, for sure. Thanks for creating and sharing
Thanks so much!
Great work and idea looks lovely
Stunning. Great work and thanks for sharing! ❤
Супер!
Хотелось купить такое издание.
Beautiful 👏🏻😁👏🏻😁👏🏻😁👏🏻😁👏🏻😁👏🏻😁👏🏻😁
Beautiful. I'd say that's a keeper.
I think 'elegant' is a better word than 'simple' for this one.
I love how you take what another wood worker might consider a fairly fancy pieced construction, you make something lovely (of course), and you are like...Hey, that little project turned out nicely! 😂
Very nice. Love the design.
Very unique, good video as always just keep doing what your doing.kudos 👍👍👍😎😎😎
Thanks Tom
Awesome piece! Quick question, have you ever accidentally cut through the sides when hollowing the piece out?
Thanks ...Not yet!
I try not to look at comments before watching you as I want the outcome to be a surprise. I also try not to pick up much from the title (though that can be impossible!) Sometimes I can guess, but when you start with strips like this, I know it's going to be a tough one! I also know it's going to be awesome because I can't work out how you can picture the final work with mixed woods sometimes. Yes, some shapes will be obvious but others couldn't be further away!
It was pretty close to the end when I stopped dithering between two things and picked one (I was right, yay!) Beautiful wood and your awesome skills turn out a real work of art, no matter the technique.
Thanks Mandy
Stunning
Really lovely, Andy. Your woodturning wizardry is sooooo impressive!
Loving the contrast between the 2 woods👍
Another wonderful video and beautiful piece! Nicely job.
Thanks Ken
The figuring on the wenge looks nice! It definitely helps accent the overall piece
Yet again, just stunning work
Love it! 🏺🏺🏺🏺🏺
That thing is breathtakingly gorgeous! 💜
Beautiful work 👏 as always sir.
Lovely vase!
Another masterpiece, thanks Andy
That is so cool! The colors compliment each other so beautifully.
Simply beautiful.

Beautiful as always, Andy
Beautiful, Andy, I have never been disappointed by a video of yours. Lovely combination of timbers (I am a sucker for Wenge), and a very elegant form. Thank you!
Thanks John
I enjoyed watching how it developed. Simple and very effective. Subscription added. Thankyou and cheers. Deno
Love your videos, they always turn out beautiful. I wish I was as good with my designs on my lathe.
Glad you like them!
cool result indeed!
Que creativo, me encanta como trabajas!!!! 👏👏👏💖💖💖🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷
Muy bueno el trabajo 👍👍
Beautiful! ❤️❤️❤️
Another outstanding art piece.
On a side note... inserting that plug was disturbingly satisfying. I may need therapy.
Very nice Andy!
Many thanks!
Very nice piece.
Looks great.
What gorgeous colours!
Great work!
seems like it would be so easy to be heavy handed when hollowing it out. does that just come with experience?
Amazing😊👍
Incredible work as always Andy!!
Thank you so much 👍
Beautiful!
It made a lovely vase, the stripes are striking but not going to lie, when I saw the blank in the screen shot I hoped it was going to be a ring goblet, the captive rings amaze me every time.
Great effect! Now, can you do one at least three times the size? Also, is it waterproof enough to have flowers and water in it all the time?
Yup, cool result! The grain of the Oak works so well with the colors of the Wenge. Beautiful, Andy! 😊
Phil
Thanks Phil 👍
Beautiful
Beautiful object - must have taken hours to complete
