Postulant Entrance Ceremony | Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist

- We are excited to welcome our new postulants! Please join us at 4:00 p.m. on August 22, 2020 (Feast of the Queenship of Mary) as they join our community!
Ranging in age from eighteen to early thirties and coming from across the United States and Mexico, these young women will be donning their blue and white postulant outfits for the first time and receive the Dominican cross signifying they are postulants in the Dominican Order in a simple ceremony.
We ask for your prayers for these young ladies - we are most grateful to God for their vocations and grateful to their families and friends who have supported them in their discernment.
I am so proud of Mary Clare's postulancy...she was with me on the altar for several years as an altar server and awesome young lady. May God continue to bless her and everyone else entering into a new relationship with God! Deacon Dave Young
Who ever designed this church has exquisite taste! What a beautiful group of postulants. This is just beautiful and I hope they all have a long happy life as a nun! And I would like to thank all the nuns for accepting their religious vocation. For all they do for Holy Mother Church!

It’s a convent, and the seats are spread out because they are choir stalls. The Sisters use the choir stalls as part of their choral Divine Office.

I nearly entered a Contemplative Order at the age of 18. But Life had other plans for me, so I never got as far as any of the formal discernment processes.
I am still rather fond of, and cherish that longing and informal, inner experience from that Chapter in my Life, tho. 🙂

@@shippermd I dont think it is a contemplative order. I know they do teach grade school children and I think they have a children's show on EWTN.
I have 3 daughters and 1 more on the way. My prayer is all of them become nuns. I am a former protestant but one of the things that drew me to the catholic faith was seeing how the sisters live out their faith. Its truly a beautiful vocation and i think so highly of nuns. God bless.

I have two sons and I have a secret wish they became priests although it is scary how things are now in the Church. It will be a real proud if any of them have a vocation to priesthood.

The Mother Superior seems like such a loving person.
My great-aunt was a Dominican nun. Watching this brings back good memories of her and the nuns that took my family in when we left our country.
My late wife, Martha, was raised by German Dominican Sisters in Pingtung, Taiwan.
We sang Immaculate Mary so many times during my pilgrimage to Lourdes. I get chills when I hear it now, it takes me back to that incredible week that changed my life forever.

I’m so happy for the community of Sisters! What a nice looking group of young women. 18!!! Awesome! We love Genevieve from St. Mary’s. Glad she could join her blood sister. Mother Assumpta, you have a great sense of humor. So great to see your fidelity to Religious Life. Many, many blessings to you and all the Sisters. I’m personally praying for all these young women to persevere in their holy vocations. Dominican Sisters are a wonderful light to the world.
My prayers are with all of you beautiful young women as you begin your religious lives as postulants. This was such a blessing to watch as you start your journeys. You are so fortunate to have been called by the Lord to be part of such a dynamic and wonderful order.
I will keep you all in my prayers for this very important year. And I ask you to keep me in prayer as I'm recovering from a very bad case of COVID-19. I've been in the hospital since July 1st, including 2 weeks in ICU. While the worst is now behind me, I'm still on oxygen 24/7 and I'm working hard to regain my strength. I almost didn't make it. I've never been so seriously ill in my life; for that matter I've never been in the hospital before except for child birth. So I need all the prayers I can get!! ❤❤❤

I love this!! I had two aunts that were Ursuline Sisters.... They have both passed, but never forgotten. I have such fond memories of them. Much love to ALL of our Sisters! God Bless

What a blessing, more vocations are sitting at our homes too, continue to pray to see them in the future

Here in Australia most religious orders are on the path to extinction. No common prayer life, no habits and no charism, and of course, no vocations! God bless you all.

That was a beautiful ceremony. I've watched several podcasts over the last week, and still more to watch. They have been wonderful in helping me on my walk of faith as a mum and grandmother. I believe that the Catholic Charismatic Renewal started at Ann Arbour many decades ago. I was received into the Catholic Church in 1977, having married into a Catholic family in 1970.

I know this video is 3 years old, but can anyone tell me two things out of curiosity. Is there a number capacity on how many nuns can be in a convent? Also I am just curious as to the purpose of the way the pews on the right side of the screen have a single seat for each row. Thank you for sharing these videos and helping us learn more about your community.
Thanks for asking! 1. The number of nuns varies with the kind of community. For this particular community, there is no limit. 2. The unique "pew" design is called a "stall." It allows the Sisters to face each other while chanting the psalms, a traditional practice.
