Thanks Sir I have recently got attracted towards SMPS power supply mainly due to LED bulbs so want to concentrate on this very part at the same time get used to using the tools because of zero practical knowledge.
Hi Mr.Haseeb, your videos are AMAZING.You are a real teacher,i have learned a lot from you.i have one question.i have a SMPS and i have only 299-301 Volts at the capacitor(with 230V input voltage).what can be wrong?the driver? also i dont have any output dc power at the secondary. Thanks in advance for your reply
Hi Haseeb, thanks for continuing to educate us. I have an issue using relays to switch on smps, after a few weeks - months, the relays become unreliable and won't switch the psu off. I guess its welding contacts together, tried larger relays and rc filter, gave little improvement. Think I need a softstart, if you could teach me what it's is and give me an idea of how to implement this I would be grateful. Psu 240v 400-600 watt units, their only powering 3d printers not huge induction motors or anything. Thanks.
welcome dear in your case if its 600 watt psu, so its input inrush current is very high, which cause arcing on relay contacts. you can use TRIC, that will the best solution, and it is long life

Sir thumbs up done i see your demonstration you put your meter in continnuity mode with a beef sound in the input of primary ckt then you shorted the diff parts in the primary and meter have beef sound but i cant recognized the resistance measured in the meter if its in the range of less than k ohms sir tnx
very skilled and knowledgeable, please i have a question all the components you have tested gave continuity does this mean that all of them are short circuit ?
Very useful and instructive video. Mr. Haseeb, I am trying to repair a smps power supply. When I checked I found that IGBT was shorted after replacing and connecting the power it blow again. I checked everything, disconnected the output from IGBT, but again after connecting the power it blowed. The driver is L6561. Can you help me where the problem is.
Hello. Thank you for your shairing. My SMPS circuit fuse keep blowing again and again and there are two mosfet on it. There is two zener diodes between drain-source. Two zener diodes burning at the same time. What is your suggestion please.
Nice and informative video. This video shows how much research you're doing on SMPS circuits. You show new testing methods every time. I still have a question. What do those class y capacitors do? I've always wondered.
Take a look at his video series #416 where he explains Class X & Y Capacitors (I myself have to keep rewatching so I can get the information to stick). Cheers!
Sir thanks for information. Please tell me how to confirm if MOSFET controller/driver is bad and keeping open gate all time. Also is it possible in such case the mosfet will blown ??
hello, on my tig welder I blow the fuse only when I start welding. If I press the trigger, I can see the the mosfet gate voltage oscillating, but as soon as I start an arc (by putting the welding gun near grounded metal) ....then fuse blows instantly, I I have to change maybe a random 3 out the 10 mosfets......I wish I could manually choose the PWM to very low duty cycle on order to see if the error comes from a bad (too high) duty cycle
Sir i have a big problem...my smps is doing good when connected in series with a 100watt bulb....even output is good...switching frequency is 15khz, there is small humming coming out of transformer...but when directly connected to mains, fuse gets blown due to short circuit...i have checked all the components, all is good...diode and mosfet is initially shorted, i have replaced it...100watt glows at around 60 watt in series.
Salam sir. Battery charger cold testing...conneted meter in ohm mode high...shows open circuit. The batter charger is charging though. If the charger is ok why it charges the battery?
Hi haseeb, could an SMPS controller (say a VIPER 12) be internally open causing the SM power supply not starting and showing no defect somewhere, all the rest been cheched and OK. i'm stuck with this issue. Thank you
I have a 12 v 5 A SMPS .it gives 11.39 v output..can you tell me what is the problem here.when i check the filter capacitor voltage it give 310 V instead of 324 v .
Hello sir i have also the same problem all the time my homemade SMPS's fuse blow up i can't understand why it's that the input emi filters causing some problem or the capacitor or the IC how can I check it ?
Hello sir, one doubt MOV is faster than fuse to detect spikes, then why MOV is behind fuse , why can't we install MOV first and install fuse after MOV ? Any reason behind it
Mr haseeb my greetings i need your help I have battery charger 5v 2amp no output . When measuring bulk cap it is ok and no short circut it is self oscillating using mje13003 npn transistor when measuring the base no startup voltage i am measuring the startup resistor value is ok it is 5megaohm voltage exist on one side the other side of resistor no voltage
Sir always in my area voltage is below 200AC As per the calculations 200 * 1.414 = 282.8DC While checking with multimeter for a second 285DC voltage showing and keep steady 245DC can you explain the reasons
Why the out put voltage of the smps still have higher frequency signal in the dc side still I try powering another high frequency power supply and the buck converter would not turn on it only turn on when I remove the power the energy in the capacitor turn the buck pwm on for some time so why is this
Why I get a noisy sound from smps ? This because aging of electrolytic capacitor in the input section ,the two 330uf 220v capacitor ? Smps is 5years old
