Cracking vlog again Bruce, have you tried the dji osmo cameras? They have a dedicated bluetooth microphone which you could seat in your helmet with either a lav mic or if you have room the actual mic itself as it has a magnetic fitting that you could put in the lining. This leaves the camera completely waterproof as you have no external mic connected to it. Just a thought buddy 👍 Ride safe
Yep I've got the Action 4 and 5 (not used the 5 yet though). Problem with these wireless mics is they have to be connected to the camera every time you turn the camera on, so if you turn the camera on and off throughout the day like I day (I use the Quick Capture modes), the wireless mics just won't work
@teapotone yeh I see your dilemma, I use the 4 on my truck vlogs and not had any problems with them, switch camera on then the mic and it connects automatically, it's getting to the mic when inside the helmet or pocket if your using a lav mic. Hope you can sort the problem out mate 👍
Interesting trip Bruce. I'm not sure any camera will cope with that type of biblical rain! DJI for us but we don't do much in that type of weather. Good to see Jose and Martin.
@@teapotone its ok. Peninsula,In croatian is "poluotok" literally means (half island).. when i was typing "halfisland" it was strange, and i didn't check it,on google.. I hope ,you visited the most southern part of Croatia- Prevlaka- there is abandoned military base with 2 helipads and old fort. Also a nice beach with clear water and beautiful view on Monte Negro. I was there in mid summer with my bike and buddy, exhausted and sweaty,on +40C,we did took a nice refresh in the sea..fantastic feeling Also, south part from Dubrovnik is called Konavle, with all the cyprees trees
Lovely Croatia, when the sun shines🤣, even my DJI kit can have issues in heavy rain, but it’s the most reliable. I use a Bluetooth mic with my Action 4 and 5 if the weather is pants or put them somewhere dry till the sun comes out😉.
Sadly that's not a luxury I can afford bud, I have to film whatever the weather. I've tried the DJI Action 4 and just didn't like it, was too light, the red LED was too small and very hard to see when I was on the bike, the external mic took up to 30 seconds to connect when you turned the camera on and even then sometimes it failed. The problem with the wireless mics is you hae to connect them to the camera every time you turn it on, so if like me, you use the cameras in Quick Capture mode and turn them on and off throughout the day as you're riding, then the wireless mics just don't work.
Nice to see the bridge finally open but I will probably still use the corridor unless riding into Bosnia, no tour group needed save your money for fuel and more exploring
The weather, variable and extreme seems to make it more inspiring. Making it all about cameras isn't though .... once the gear works it just becomes a tool not the focus, should enable rather than be the main challenge. People and places, eh?
Aye I actually had quite a big portion of this vid of me talking about the Ace Pro, GoPro and Dji as I've used them all now this year - but it ended up taking over the whole vid so I cut it right down (plus all the cameras have now been superseded since then). The problem with these wireless mics is that when you turn the camera off, you then have to reconnect the mic EVERY time. I use my cameras in the Quick Capture mode so they go into standby, and this is the same as turning them off, so the wireless mics just don't work for my needs sadly.
Yep it's absolutely fine, my kit has never leaked once - the key is to keep it clean and clean it properly (I did a vid on that😉) Only issue with the Rukka Nivala is the outside pockets aren't waterproof for some reason?
@@teapotone I did watch the video of you doing your household chores 🤣 it’s great to hear they never leaked, I have the Rukka nivala trousers but I’m definitely going to invest in the jacket, thanks for your help and the great videos
I really wish Drift would up their game in terms of picture quality, image stabilising and some other features .... they have built in fully waterproof audio connectors, awesome battery life and the form factor is nicely aerodynamic too - three big boxes ticked ... but then they fall flat on their face output quality wise when compared with go pro / DJI / Insta offerings. Such a shame.
@@teapotone Yup, they got some things really right ... but then dropped the ball on the biggest feature. If they had similar output quality to the others they'd be strong competition .... alas, they couldn't be bothered 😕
I've bought the new Hero 13 and to be honest, so far it's been fine - again apart from in the rain. I've used the DJI Action 4 but just didn't like it, and I've bought the new Action 5 but not used it yet. Hoping to get the new Ace Pro 2 from insta360 soon to give that a go too.
You should concentrate more about your riding instead of waffling about your camera. The entire group rode 95 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. You must consider yourself lucky with the weather. In June heavy rain caused serious floods in Switzerland, France and Germany.

Rain😱…..🤣..
Thanks for having us along for the “Adventure”…..🥃🏴
Ha Ha, it follows me EVERYWHERE mate! 🤦♂️🤣
Rain....just adding variety to the ride!...and gives yer wheels a wash...😂

On the other side od "pelješac" bridge,is pelješac halfisland, and on it,a fantastic road from Ston to Orebić.
You mean peninsula. There's no such thing in English as 'halfisland'.
@1balky yes..english is not my native language,so, some proper words/meanings i forgot/don't know..
@bare36 - thanks for the info bud.
@1balky - come on bud, no need to be a grammar/language enforcer here

Trimmed Beard looking so much better.
Cheers but it’s not trimmed, was just wearing a buff
@ Oh dear, food for thought in 2025?
Lol well said Bruce 🤘.

DJI with the DJI wireless 2 work in the rain Bruce I think you have tried them but didn’t like them ? Keep up the great vids 👍

Drift died as a brand when they launched the Ghost 4k way back in about 2017. Utter garbage now sadly

100% junk the GoPros :)
