I received a left hand DK 100 three weeks ago. Initial inspection resulted in a frozen cast control knob. It was completely frozen and would not move. It was basically stuck in minimum position. I put line on with no issues and went fishing. Lack of cast control meant that I needed a very educated thumb to cast an 1/8 oz lure with the wind. I contacted Dunkung and have had several conversations with them. While they seem to want to help with the problem they have done nothing yet despite my request for a new end cap cast control system
@@rodburns3398 this is the first I’ve heard of the left hand version having a problem. After sending me 3 different reels all having the same issue they made me do a video on each one before they would do a replacement/refund then they also tried to get me to take a partial refund to keep it($15 refund) then they made me pay shipping back to them they did pay me back for that I was really disappointed because the reel was smooth and felt like good quality but just like a lot of other CDM reels have a lot of issues to work out.
Spool with line to the brim looks almost exactly like my shimano scorp DC, both bantams. Looks normal to me. Even my Daiwa Ryoga C2020 jigging reel spools like this.
Do you think it the right handed models only? My friend received his left hand model today and spooled it perfectly okay. A few people who had the same issue as you did had the right hand model, I haven’t heard of anyone yet with any issue for the left model.
My spool looks like yours. I don't really mind it seeing as it doesn't really affect the casting or retrieve for me. I thought I was going to see something dramatic but this really doesn't seem like a big deal. I get that it bugs you, and for the price it should spool the way you want it to. But from using it in real time, the reel works just fine and casts smoother than a lot of my other low pro casters.

Honestly not an uncommon reel occurrence even in shimano’s but I can happen for a number or reasons. Especially in the bigger round conventional reels such as the tekota or ambassador. As for the gearing issue, 80-90% of bait casting reel’s will run a gear that is directly connected to the pinion shaft through a gear to prevent the worm gear from over/under spooling the reel. (Including the Calcutta series) Thankfully the most common issue is that the reel is just out of sync with that rotation. Which means you have pull enough line off under the spool is even again. The less common issue is that the your lever wind paw is either defected or damaged in a way for that I does not proper spool your reel. Which in this case is unlikely as you would feel that friction while reeling. While I can argee that what DK did is quite scummy. The reel is still completely fishable out of the box. If you truly want the perfect line lay on a reel, then I would recommend an open face reel instead of relying on a lever wind. Anyways I hope this helps
Edit: Yeah that’s weird that even re-spooling the reel doesn’t work A wild stretch but if you compare both of the spools closely. You’ll realized they are very very different. Notice how the fillets on the sides of the reel are very aggressive in comparison the conquest. Perhaps they are so aggressive that the line is sliding right off them like you mentioned in the video
