Gee Mark, I would have just stayed home under the conditions of that second session but you certainly deserved that great reward for your perseverance - well done!
The reason is frank he persevered under flooded conditions and guess what....it payed off for him....bingo. no magical tricks pal...erm isn't that barbel fishing frank?.
WOW Mark, that was one hairy trip, you must really know that river to fish in those conditions.it looked scary. And what a reward, you deserved that lovely barbel, well done. Without a doubt Mark your fishing videos are by far the best on youtube, you show the trips as they are, it makes my day when you post a new video and long may they keep coming. regards Peter
Thank you Pete! That is very kind of you to say that and I always try to show the tough side of trips if they have been very tricky as we all have them moments as anglers. I will keep new videos coming as best as I can mate and thank you so much for tuning in.
Two impressive fish .spot on advice about the vigilance needed to fish such flooded waters. Perseverance always brings results and the blanks make the successes all the more sweeter to savour. Speaking of things from the kitchen cupboard you can flavour woffle with so many combinations , to tempt the fishes.
Thanks Hayden, yes you need to be so careful, i have been over confident twice during my years in fishing and learned my lessons, both times cost me a plunge, one of those into this particular river at 2am one September and even though i can swim I was fortunate that there was another person nearby to help me out and also lucky it was not in flood like it is in this video. You're right the blanks make the rewards a whole lot sweeter.
Hi mark lovely fish , would like to see how you go about making the groundbait and the boiles think your experience would help a lot of anglers , thanks for taking the time to film and upload 🙏
Hey Mark, just to add to my earlier comment, you mentioned about washing your hands, I use Boots anti viral hand foam all the time when i`m fishing, its only £4 something, no smell to it and especially good before i eat anything, Peter.
Hi Mark, Thank you for taking the time to make another great watch. Just what I needed to rebuild my broken spirit for this wonderful thing we call fishing. Just packed the van after a week of trying everything I know to catch on the Hampshire Avon and blanked. The River has been totally unforgiving, I think it was the snow melt in stream and the very high water levels that put pay to my best laid plans. Never mind I will appreciate the next fish regardless of what it is😂. Tight lines and look after yourself.
Thanks Richard and it is tough conditions currently, you was up against it and flood and snow melt combined with falling temperatures are not at all easy conditions, far from it! Hopefully with this settled drier spell albeit chilly the rivers can at least fine down a bit, many of mine right now are tits up to say the least :(
Lovely video mark, that stretch of looked beautiful very Mr crabtreeish, and the bird song in the back ground just added to the atmosphere, that bream looked a decent size, followed by a lovely barbel. Do you always use doilies for your barbel fishing,do ever use traditional baits such as lunchen meat . I agree with you about the natural smell at certain times of the year, its a mix of the smell of the water, earth, vegetation mixed together. Keep the videos coming mate much appreciated. Best wishes.
As Always Mark I really loved this video but even more than usual particularly the bits you shared about you and your Dad❤️ Catching a great bream and cracking barbel..I’m hoping to get out myself over the weekend fingers crossed I can get a few pulls.
Thanks mate i think i spoke more than usual, i have peaks and troughs where i open up more emotionally on some videos than i do on others. I'm really glad you enjoyed it. Good luck this weekend let us hope the rovers stay and keep fining down a bit.
@ I appreciate You and you when you share your thoughts and feelings and opinions my Friend…yes I’m going for a River recky tomorrow in preparation for weekend we have lots of snow in Yorkshire so some pegs will be out of reach but I’ll find a peg or three I’m sure.
Cheers Tim yes that was the older Marco Cortessi pin, been a really good servant believe thats loaded with either 10 or 12lb shimano technium (12 i believe), I fancied bringing it back into use on this trip because i know it sounds daft, but i really feel sad when a piece of tackle has not been used for a while, sure they are inanimate objects as such, but to me they all have chapters in our fishing where they have come to life and when they have been left out of use for a while it feels a bit sad.
Great barbel again, Mark, fantastic as always. Hope you are keeping well 🎣🎣👍👍
Cheers Mick and I'm not bad currently, thanks for asking. How are you and the cat doing?
Gee Mark, I would have just stayed home under the conditions of that second session but you certainly deserved that great reward for your perseverance - well done!
Thanks Frank, I do question my sanity at times 😂.

very very well done Mark just superb, you always come across so well mate. I also admire your dedication pal well done.👍👍👍🎣🎣🎣
Thank you ever so much Mark, there's a fine line between dedication and madness and sometimes I must admit I drift across into that ether. 😅❤
Well done man admire the fearlessness in fishing those conditions.
Thanks, it is a good helping of madness to lol.

Thanks Pete I'll check that out, I currently use a 70 percent alcohol hand sanitiser but will say it does tend to try my skin out.

Lovely fish in difficult conditions. Well done to you 😊
Thank you Neil❤. But have to be so careful in those conditions, one wrong step and it can end badly.
More great viewing Mark well done Barbel a good double ? stay safe in the Berkshire swamps
Cheers mate will do my best to and no it was a nicely built fish but over 9 but not quite a double.

Cracking fish ,, that bream looked big ! , lb? , and the barbel looked on the thin size for its frame ,, great fishing video again 👍
Cheers Stephen😊 the bream was 8.4. The barbel was long and slim over 9lb
Nice barbus - looks very much the hit-and-hold tactics deployed that evening Mark, you weren't taking any chances!😊 12lb line?
