I am glad that I realised these things a long time ago. I have totally ditched social media except WhatsApp (essential for communication in India) and UA-cam (a good source of knowledge and entertainment) 2 years back. The peace of mind is really worth it.
I didn't want to completely ditch it but I always think about the basic purpose of social media which is to be connected with people. I just scroll once or twice and then stop it. I have learned to stop when I feel I'm wasting my time.

I am addicted to dhruv's video, i can't help it. I have watched almost his all videos, but atleast his videos educates us, we are becoming a good, mindful , thoughtful person by watching your videos😊.
After covid19, ppl use screens not only for social media but for studying too ! Thus students are also more prone to this and apart from Dhruv's outstanding ideas for avoiding this addiction, I also want to suggest one like KEEP REMINDING YOURSELF ALWAYS, what are you doing and why are you doing it. This thing, not only supports you in this stuff but in life too.
100 % !! But that would require a rational mind but tbrh not many of us are rational and even the ones who are aren't always, like for eg. I'm a pretty rational dude but I used to justify wasting a significant amount of my time binge watching cute baby/animal videos by thinking about my low points but fortunately after getting a job it changed.

One of the reasons why I am addicted to your videos. I have uninstalled FB a long time ago, switched notification off for Insta, Twitter and shopping apps, blocked spammers but Dhruv Rathee ka bell icon hamesha ON hi rahega. I always get to learn something new from such informative videos. Edit- Also uninstalled netflix, amazon prime and only watch while travelling
To be frank ... I was addicted to ur videos recently.... No chemical effect Dhruv bhai... Ur style...speech.. knowledge made me addicted... At last whatever u do in life bhai....don't stop making informative videos what I like most...
I'm addicted to watching your video, because i m getting more rewards from your video as a knowledge like History, Science,Geography etc which one I'm not getting that much knowledge from my school and college. Thank you Dhruv Sir 🙏🙏🙏
UA-cam also have educational and informative content Many educational platform are on this site unlike insta, tiktok,fb etc filled with racist, toxic and weirdo and thats why its an perfect place to spread awareness im not saying yt dont have toxic ppl but atleast the no of mature and educated ppl is more here
Loved the way you explained. Simply amazing! These platforms are so addictive that sometimes it also consumes out time that we really need to spend on productive things. We remember, in our childhood, we didn't had a personal smartphone. Now the time is changing and so is the young generation.
Thank you for making this video. Hoping people see the value in this. I've been following these steps since years despite being in my 20s. I don't have any social apps on my phone & I open apps on browsers to use them when I need to. Saves my phone's battery (A LOT) & makes it easy for me to disconnect digitally! I wish this was possible with Whatsapp & Telegram also!!! Infact I keep all my notifications on silent mode. I check notifications only when I want to.
I am already using all ur methods from almost 5yrs, believe me everyone around me thinks I am an arrogant person, I am not on any social media. I am free to choose my choices. peaceful and quiet happy
Good work Druv! Thank God I am protected from Social Media. I am 25 and I hardly use any social media platform. I am a Software Engineer and my most of time is spent on machines. Well, I spend my time in hearing UA-cam videos on backend, and Druv's channel is among the best.
Sir thank you so much for this because my addiction was at its peak. So, I uninstalled all social media apps except UA-cam because I thoroughly agree with that concept of using those apps on a laptop. Thank you once again❤
I was actually using my phone since 6 hrs and then this video popped on my screen. Thanks for the info Dhruv it was much needed for generation like us. I have classes for 5 hrs and then have to do practice sio 1-2 hrs more. Social media is actually a time waste and causes terrible effects.
I believe the only way to get rid of social media addiction is to find something you love and are passionate about and spend your time mastering it. It can be a hobby, a side project or a job. You literally replace your addiction for a better one.
In my opinion it doesn't matter how much screen time your having only matters which kind of screen time your having phone is very useful thing if you use in a right way hope that's help you
i was addicted to twitter , 14:30 - i'm doing this from last 1 year. opening twitter, facebook from opera. trust me now i'm not intrested in any social media (except instagram). & now i'm concentrating on career. searching for jobs.
I think youtube is different than other social media or maybe this is what I used to think 3-4 years ago. You tube still does not recognize itself as a social media but a replacement of a tv
@Mohammad Nadeem internet is important and it's availability too. If people won't have internet in today's world they will eventually lack behind. It's our responsibility to use internet wisely

This is exactly what I was thinking a few days back. I really appreciate the way you explained it Dhruv. Ease of accessibility would result in less excitement and happiness in things we used to find happiness in getting earlier. Also the duration of excitement and joy which comes along with the sudden increase in the dopamine levels is short lived and goes down very quickly. Leaving one feeling empty. It's not achieved in a day by the rulers over the web but it is the result of the thorough process over a long duration of more than a decade of social media. Thank you for the video though. 👏

I was too addicted to Social Media. But after watching this video i thought yes we should see less mobile and all. Thank u soooo much Dhruv Rathee.!!! Keep it up!!!!!😊
14:21 I actually discovered this myself long before watching any sort of video about science behind addiction. I uninstalled instagram due to less storage space in my old phone thinking I could always access it via chrome. And snap! My daily average on insta used to be around 4.5 hours which legit dropped to 39 minutes. Although I got addicted to Netflix to fill the time in which I didn't use insta 🤣🤣 That's the thing. You reduce usage of one thing, you get addicted to something else because there's that void left in your daily routine. Instead of doing something productive that you planned to, you just fill that void with something as useless. It's an endless cycle, a paradox until you have the will power and motivation to snap out of it.
First time i understood about the release of dopamine and how it is related to our addictions. I’ve heard about dopamine and addictions many times but never understood, but now thanks to you i am completely aware of it.
You've put up such an important topic and I really appreciate you for that ♥️👏👏 We cannot get rid of the mobile in today's age when almost everything is done via mobile and it's just destroying the youth, but for the betterment of ourselves, we can definitely minimise the use of it by engaging in real physical activities!!
❤️ Thankyou for donating though , We all need to apply this simple steps mentioned here to avoid distractions .. Hope everyone succeeds in their interest & get satisfaction doing whatever they want to !
During lockdown my screen time was 10-12 hrs but when i practiced a simple technique of gradually decreasing the screen time, i had been succeeded in it. My current screen time is 2-3 hrs. If you try to ignore your device, slowly you will succeed to escape from the mobile addiction.
... To get rid of mobile addiction is to understand the science behind of mobile addiction and all about.... Thank you sir for making this video 🙏🙏🙏... ♥️From WB
How i came out of the addiction of Instagram 1) i used to scroll on instagram for more than 3 hours then i thought this needs to change 2) but i knew that uninstalling Instagram won't help 3) i tried to go for a win win situation 4) i decided to use Instagram only 2 times a day ( in the afternoon at the night) 5) at the beginning it was very difficult to control myself 6) after using i used to log out from Instagram so that i don't get distracted 7) after few days i became comfortable using Instagram only for 1:30 min 8) i knew this wasn't enough 9) then i started using Instagram for only 1 hr 10) now i use for 45 min a day 11) it took more than 5-6 months but i tried hard coz this is not easy 12) whenever i felt to scroll i used to watch utube 13) when I started using utube i started watching informative videos 14) i took the help of addiction to gain knowledge 15) still someday i use insta like anything but 100 times better than before
I got out of Instagram but got in on other stuff, either way my time flies by in some way or the other, I don't even know what I should do on my phone now but somehow end up somewhere and end up wasting hours...

Very thankful for a famous UA-camr like you to talk about problem like this. I am facing this problem from a long time.
Now I have started to get rid of social media addiction.thanks for telling truth about social media.
I been always told by elders how addictive is social media, but I never felt it that serious. Thanks to you I have started to feel the seriousness.

Watching video on social media for overcoming the addiction of social media, absolute genius!
then how the hell are you supposed to watch this awareness video idiot
UA-cam also have educational and informative content
Many educational platform are on this site unlike insta, tiktok,fb etc filled with racist, toxic and weirdo and thats why its an perfect place to spread awareness im not saying yt dont have toxic ppl but atleast the no of mature and educated ppl is more here
Loved the way you explained. Simply amazing!
These platforms are so addictive that sometimes it also consumes out time that we really need to spend on productive things.
We remember, in our childhood, we didn't had a personal smartphone. Now the time is changing and so is the young generation.
We need more and more educated person like you sir.👐.
Watch my latest video
You can use WhatsApp also from your laptop.
I am already using all ur methods from almost 5yrs, believe me everyone around me thinks I am an arrogant person,
I am not on any social media. I am free to choose my choices.

Very informative video🔥
Good work Druv! Thank God I am protected from Social Media. I am 25 and I hardly use any social media platform. I am a Software Engineer and my most of time is spent on machines. Well, I spend my time in hearing UA-cam videos on backend, and Druv's channel is among the best.
Sir thank you so much for this because my addiction was at its peak. So, I uninstalled all social media apps except UA-cam because I thoroughly agree with that concept of using those apps on a laptop.
Thank you once again❤
I really appreciate your opinion❤❤❤

I was actually using my phone since 6 hrs and then this video popped on my screen. Thanks for the info Dhruv it was much needed for generation like us. I have classes for 5 hrs and then have to do practice sio 1-2 hrs more. Social media is actually a time waste and causes terrible effects.
Kis chiz ki class leti ho ?
Still you are a social media addictor
Instagram is enough😂😂😂
The only UA-camr who cares about others and says that UA-cam is addictive 🙏💙💙❤️ thank you for your valuable content as always.
I think youtube is different than other social media or maybe this is what I used to think 3-4 years ago. You tube still does not recognize itself as a social media but a replacement of a tv
“You learn the hard way. That’s the thing with social media. Nobody knows what they’re doing.” - Cameron Dallas
@Mohammad Nadeem internet is important and it's availability too. If people won't have internet in today's world they will eventually lack behind. It's our responsibility to use internet wisely

Good video … that is why Indian thoughts tell value of महत means बुद्धि . How much logic we add to real life determines once behaviour .

Now another concept that you should be searching for is "dopamine detox".
You will gain more Insights.

I was too addicted to Social Media. But after watching this video i thought yes we should see less mobile and all. Thank u soooo much Dhruv Rathee.!!! Keep it up!!!!!😊
Thanks dhruv Rathee for adding an example of IIT to explain I'm motivated now ❤️
14:21 I actually discovered this myself long before watching any sort of video about science behind addiction.
So true.
U aren't wrong first i was addicted to a video game and when I left it now addicted to social media
Ahhh.. You are speaking language of Gods
Damnn...its so true it happened with me everytime I tired

First time i understood about the release of dopamine and how it is related to our addictions. I’ve heard about dopamine and addictions many times but never understood, but now thanks to you i am completely aware of it.
You've put up such an important topic and I really appreciate you for that ♥️👏👏 We cannot get rid of the mobile in today's age when almost everything is done via mobile and it's just destroying the youth, but for the betterment of ourselves, we can definitely minimise the use of it by engaging in real physical activities!!
Sir. Thanks for giving me such precious and motivation lecture ❤️

The ease of excess of social media platforms destroying our lives as well as it also make us lazy and unhealthy.

How i came out of the addiction of Instagram
1) i used to scroll on instagram for more than 3 hours then i thought this needs to change
2) but i knew that uninstalling Instagram won't help
3) i tried to go for a win win situation
4) i decided to use Instagram only 2 times a day ( in the afternoon at the night)
5) at the beginning it was very difficult to control myself
6) after using i used to log out from Instagram so that i don't get distracted
7) after few days i became comfortable using Instagram only for 1:30 min
8) i knew this wasn't enough
9) then i started using Instagram for only 1 hr
10) now i use for 45 min a day
11) it took more than 5-6 months but i tried hard coz this is not easy
12) whenever i felt to scroll i used to watch utube
13) when I started using utube i started watching informative videos
14) i took the help of addiction to gain knowledge
15) still someday i use insta like anything but 100 times better than before
I got out of Instagram but got in on other stuff, either way my time flies by in some way or the other, I don't even know what I should do on my phone now but somehow end up somewhere and end up wasting hours...
I do the same... 🙌
