So... we got married, been married for over a year now. Heres our journey and story. It's been an interesting adventure and we probably broke every rule there is about dating, marriage and relationships.

The best advice I can give you from myself is "trust" and "openness" together, which you have both displayed and grow. Ive been married for 32 years. You two sound like you have the most wonderful union together. I always joked that when the sun, moon, stars are all aligned then this must be it. You know when its perfect to get married when both of you feel the same way. and there are no obstacles. Remember always you are on the same team, and you are fighting for the same goals dreams and aspirations. you may have your different views but at the end of the day, you have only each other. Prioritize each other and the length of your marriage will turn into years / decades. Do not talk of divorce, or splitting up or going separate ways. Those are cop outs. And - always remember the grass ISNT greener on the other side.All the best to both of you.

Our marriage therapist told us a useful tool of a 1-10 scale for issues or decisions being made. 10 means it’s so important to you that you’ll die on this hill and 1 being I don’t care at all. It’s an easy way to see where your partner is at on the issue and how to go from there. Congrats guys!!

Was married 1 and 1/2 year before I told my family. Told my 10 friends who witnessed our secret wedding to not to say anything to anyone.
We didn't follow the "traditional" way of getting married, but it works for us, and that's what makes it us, and different.

I am so happy for you guys in this new journey in life. I have been married for 14 years now but togther for 17 years. Marriage is not easy but of you guys can work togther and get through the rough times you will be fine. We have had are ups and downs but at the end of the day we have gotten pass through it and now know we can make it through anything. Just make sure you guys commuicate with each other and make sure to listen to each other. I also did not get married trational either but here I am 14 years later.

Big win for Joe. I’ve been watching JK since 2013. It was when they were posting skits every Sunday. Was able to see all the girls he dated. Finally he found someone good for him and settled down. Out of all the girls, this girl changed Joe’s behavior the most and for the better
Best relationship advice is always communication. Right off the bat, agree to always be honest and don't shut each other out, even if you do, you don't stop them from trying to talk and figure things out or make things better. Once you have that, it doesn't matter what happens, it's always a scenario where there are no doubts about how each others feels.
Also note that the way someone communicates can be different. So both people have to learn and teach each others' ways.

I find that in a relationship, communication (all aspects of it) is important. Be wary of your selfishness bc it can flare up (or be at a certain level) and you may think that amount is ok, when in reality it is not. And finally, remember that nothing outside of your (healthy) marriage/family really matters. To hell what society thinks. On your death bed, you won’t remember about the time you got mad that the toilet seat was up or whatever so-and-so said years ago. You will, however, think about how you chose to make the best of your life. And the fruit you reaped from having someone to walk the journey of life with.

Congrats! Advice: Communication and therapy. At the end of the day marriage is two people and both have to want to be there, want to keep trying and both need to clearly communicate needs and also be willing to self reflect to find solutions. You can't be trying to win or keeping score.
