@@NelsonLeeYT Hey, thanks for responding! i really need this! i am running for student body president in my high school and our election is coming up soon! this gave me some reassurance and hopefully I get elected !!
Remember popularity isn't everything. There have been upsets in a lot of races. Even if your popular, you still need a good platform and need a good campaign.
This video helped me so much I have a lot of people campaigning this year but I think I have a chance also my slogan is A Vote for me is a Vote for you. I win - you win. Vote Emma Fierro as class representative. Have a good day!
I have to present my speech on the 8th of November this year. Wish me luck! Edit: i was new to the school and all the popular kids got in but i didn’t. :(( Your tips were very helpful and i still appreciate it :)
My school is starting a student council campaign for the first time ever, so I don't have any experience. I've been in similar situations that required a voting session before but never something this slim of a chance to win. It use to be maybe 2-3 people out of 30. Suddenly it's now 8 people out of almost 200. (1 in 25) The gap is huge and it's quite overwhelming. I'd like to know what interests other students because I've always been the quiet A+ student who hangs out with only one friend. I already know others in my year will be going all out with posters, badges, and bribes. I don't want to do the ones that everyone else is doing since I'd like to be a little bit unique to catch everyone's attention. I really don't know what to go for but I was thinking of making little bags with some sweets, origami bookmarks and a little card explaining why voting for me would be a good option. I still need more ideas because it's till Hallowe'en break and I would really love to do something special weekly! It would be so helpful if you responded with some ideas I could do to win the votes!
Those are all great ideas! I think the best thing you can do is get out there everyday and meet 10 new people! Talk to them about how you want to make the school better and how that’ll make their school experience more awesome! I have faith you can do this! Let me know how it goes 🤩

the video is awesome but I'm just not sure about the part where u said "If you're running only for a boost in your resume, I recommend you to drop out." I think that you can still be a wonderful student council president if you know your school's weakness and strong points. Because personally I am running for student council president with the intentions to boost my resume but I know clearly what the school needs and wants. So I think u should really consider the way u word it before deciding for others Other than that I really like the video and I felt really inspired from your video. Keep it up man :)
I want to run for head girl, ik it’s different but it’s similar. They are both versions of politics, (but not politics lol) but just in school! In my opinion (based off of my school and the info I’ve gotten) the voting is a mixture of different things: 40% teacher votes, 25% general class voting like fair voting, 35% popularity contest. The girls who are running for head girl have to send in videos stating why they would make a good head. It’s shown to the teachers near the end of the summer term, they cast their votes. Then it’s shown to the classes, they do the same. I’m semi-popular, which means that quite a lot of people like me in my year, but not everyone. I’m smart, generous and I have a few cons but everyone does! I say generous knowing that I am. I don’t want to sound self absorbed or arrogant but it’s factually true! I spend a lot of the time comforting people, giving advice, giving spare food when girls don’t have snacks, I help people with most problems and I lend my classmates stationary. I’m noticed in class for being tidy and organised. I’m not the brightest but I am in the top class. And you don’t have to be smart to be head girl. Do you think I will get it?
hey, this video was super helpful, but my biggest problem is that i have someone competing against with a huge student influence and has already got half the grade, people are blindly voting for frndship and not eligibility. in such cases how can i make my voice heard and also our school is really really formal so even crackin a joke in the speech is a huge risk, and in such cases what can i do to make it more impactfull
So I'm going into a new school and nobody knows me. I was in Student Council for all of middle school and want to get into it again, but we didn't have electric, so I don't know how this would go. I have a speech impediment, so speeches and talking is very difficult for other people to understand what i am saying. Is there any tips on what I do? One tip got from somebody was to tell them before I have a speech, that I have a speech impediment. Any more tips you might know of?
I’m one of the only people who are doing a speech. I’m not very popular, I mean people know me but it’s because I’m the “smart” kid. I’ve been a little nervous because I feel that people are just going to laugh and make jokes about it later. I do theater and I don’t really have stage fright but it’s just different when I’m reading in front of all my peers. I will update this later on how this goes but I really do appreciate this video no matter if I make it or not.
I'm running for grade 10 president and I'm so nervous. The other party is too strong, they are well known in skill and very experienced, unlike me whose first timer. Whatever happen, I'll accept it. Win or loss. What's important in that I chose to fight. Padayon!!!

Follow people on IG/Facebook/TikTok who maybe follow a central school account and message them! If in person, go up to people with a big smile. You got this!
this is so helpful definitely gonna take this stuff into mind! question: I want to seem nice and support other runners by reposting their stuff or doing posts w them, is this a bad idea? some people say it’s bad because it’s promoting them but i feel like it’s nice HELP!!
Our teacher just told us that me and my bff were picked out as president nominees, this is the very 1st student council election at our school and its making me very nervous since if i win the election i will be the 1st student council president ever at our school. The proclamation would be on February 16.
When i was in 7th grade,i decided to run for student council but i of course lost because of this boy who was very popular and made everyone vote for him which made me very discouraged but im going to try again this year :)
I looked through your website and I thought your platform was very interesting and ambitious, I was wondering how you actually pulled it off? like what steps did you take? specifically for the one where you helped students find careers they want and the steps they can take to succeed
me and my friend Ellie are considered smart kids, I'd say she's the smarter one because she does almost nothing besides school work where I'm always talking to people as I work. we're both freshmen in highschool and she wants me to run for vice president when she runs for president but I know almost nothing about this so I'm looking into it!
I'm afraid of running sure, but I mean it's better to be afraid than miss out. Any tips how to talk into the camera without awkwardness and to sound a little bit funny ,but responsible? I'm sorry if it sound weird , but I really want to be part of student council and bring new ideas to my school :)
I'm applying to bloor ci (tops programme too!! *marc garneau's essential sister school if you wanna put it that way*) and im running this year. let's see how this goes :))
Reason for me running. Organization & reliability. My school does things very last minute due to certain parts of decision making and I want to also have other kids not in The ASB have a say because what if like me they could get the chance or people outside ASB have a different opinion and want. So giving the other kids the option to have a say I'm what we plan and also I try to find a way to make the decision faster that way last minute things don't happen. Cause personally I have a mother who hates last minute things so having control that it won't be helps people with parents similar to mine (We are a small school so the have kids having a say is easy while semi difficult) meanwhile my competitor takes the happy go lucky child side of things
Against a very popular kid but I’m confident in being myself and open to UA-cam to help expand what I should do. I’m running for ecosystem representative (eco rep) I personally want to help grow and teach kids in my school how to care for plants, I also would like my school look even better with addition of plants and be able to manage plants and have a safe and amazing looking environment. School elections on 21st I’ll give updates
student council elections are popularity contests
that makes running against someone popular who doesn't even care about what there doing even worse. I'm really contemplating running.
That’s the challenge. While campaigning we gotta make people see the importance of the election and that the popular people took advantage of the voters to win election easily. Show the voters that the popular team think they’re easy to influenced.

Glad it helped!
I'm running for student council, and this is my first time. I was so scared and didn't know what do to. But this video helped me soo much. Thankyou

Remember popularity isn't everything. There have been upsets in a lot of races. Even if your popular, you still need a good platform and need a good campaign.
So true and important 👌
@@NelsonLeeYT How much does Chance to Lead usually cost?
Hi! Im running for student council president rn and this is really helping me I rlly needed help with the speech
This video helped me so much I have a lot of people campaigning this year but I think I have a chance also my slogan is A Vote for me is a Vote for you. I win - you win. Vote Emma Fierro as class representative. Have a good day!
That’s beautiful!
I have to present my speech on the 8th of November this year. Wish me luck!
Edit: i was new to the school and all the popular kids got in but i didn’t. :((
Your tips were very helpful and i still appreciate it :)
GOOD LUCK!
Thanks for this video Nelson - very helpful. Best wishes.
Glad it’s helpful Navinder!
thanks man, with some of the help from this video, i actually won my election for middle school captain!
Congratulations 🎉!!!
Thankyou so much I watched this last year, Now I'm the Deputy Minister ❤
your video really helped a lot. i am going to use the steps and the tricks that you showed me through your video. am glad you posted this!
I'm standing for sports minister. Thanks for the useful tips. Let's wait and see for results ☺️
All the best, good luck!
@@NelsonLeeYT Thank you so much! I will try that. We have to present a speech on Wednesday, fingers crossed.

I am aspiring for the position as head girl in my school.and I need to know more on how to convince my peers to vote for me so that I can lead.
Dang, this really works, I can verify. Tysm. Also in July I was at UofT learning Python with Kevin and Dyllan. :) We went on a tour and wow ☺️ it's a great university that I will apply to in the future.
I’m so glad you found the video useful! Definitely come apply to UofT, it’s a great place!
hey! im running for elections in my school but its all online due to the pandemic so i cant have personal interactions and i dont think most of em r even on social media. the only way i can campaign is through a short vedio and digital posters. any advices?
Running online is definitely a very different experience. Try organic messaging through social media or SMS or getting people to spread your message to two other friends. Other than that, your short videos need to be very engaging then!
Thank. You helped me. I'm the President of School Council of learners.

I am in the student council right now and I am thinking ahead for next year
Wonderful!!!
the video is awesome but I'm just not sure about the part where u said "If you're running only for a boost in your resume, I recommend you to drop out." I think that you can still be a wonderful student council president if you know your school's weakness and strong points. Because personally I am running for student council president with the intentions to boost my resume but I know clearly what the school needs and wants. So I think u should really consider the way u word it before deciding for others
Other than that I really like the video and I felt really inspired from your video. Keep it up man :)
For sure! That's great. I'm just referring to people who run for only their resume.

Do you think I will get it?
hey, this video was super helpful, but my biggest problem is that i have someone competing against with a huge student influence and has already got half the grade, people are blindly voting for frndship and not eligibility. in such cases how can i make my voice heard
and also our school is really really formal so even crackin a joke in the speech is a huge risk, and in such cases what can i do to make it more impactfull
Share your vision for the school and let them know you want to make it better for them!

Hello! May I ask for your recommendation for a closing line with the name “Savanna” as a secretary?
I’m one of the only people who are doing a speech. I’m not very popular, I mean people know me but it’s because I’m the “smart” kid. I’ve been a little nervous because I feel that people are just going to laugh and make jokes about it later. I do theater and I don’t really have stage fright but it’s just different when I’m reading in front of all my peers. I will update this later on how this goes but I really do appreciate this video no matter if I make it or not.
I can’t believe it, I ended up winning by a landslide! Thank you so much, your advice really helped!

When i was in 7th grade,i decided to run for student council but i of course lost because of this boy who was very popular and made everyone vote for him which made me very discouraged but im going to try again this year :)
Hi, this is so helpful. When you talk about a platform, would google doc be enough or do you have any suggestions?
I looked through your website and I thought your platform was very interesting and ambitious, I was wondering how you actually pulled it off? like what steps did you take? specifically for the one where you helped students find careers they want and the steps they can take to succeed

oh my god the pun with your last name gave me the idea to use my last name (nguyen) and say "vote for me, because if you do, itll be a nguyen-win 😛"
Love it! Puns are always a great way to stand out
I want to have some amazing ideas but having some trouble thinking of some
if someone could help that would be great
Reason for me running.
Cause personally I have a mother who hates last minute things so having control that it won't be helps people with parents similar to mine
(We are a small school so the have kids having a say is easy while semi difficult) meanwhile my competitor takes the happy go lucky child side of things
Is anyone else watching this 8 months later 🤭 I'm running in a few days and I'm super nervous
