Yeah Doc, wrong color, couldn't see anything but the needle and your hands making magical motions above the pad😄
Excellent series! Appreciate the information greatly.

What are some examples of high tension wounds to use horizontal matress over simple suture?

Can you do an interrupted but locking stitch? So that they are separated by knots so if one breaks it doesnt unravel BUT you lock them together so you dont have to cut and start over for every stitch?

    Hello Dr. Parker.
Have a question about interrupted stitches on a small but strongly bleeding hand inner palm. I am not a doctor myself but have always been fascinated since my childhood and liked to watch, observe, learn and know as I am a strong believer that we should make our medical choices knowing well what the options are.
So recently I had a small (1.5cm) stubbing wound on the inner palm and the surgeon used interrupted stitches but left the knits around 4-5mm to be sticking out. As a result, the minute I took of the bandages (as per doctors instructions in 24 hours to change them) I started feeling the ends of the stitches which make quite some pain if touched. Luckily I did not have to leave the wound unopen for the next 4-5 days so I kept it clean and safely eliminating any chances of infections but now, 3 days before taking out my stitches, every time I take out or on a dress, it hurts a lot because the stitches stick out and get inside the fabrics.
My question is (just for my knowledge sake) if you would like to do a no scar stitching, what would be the optimal technique as I know the interrupted stitches are not the best and if you would leave the 4-5 mm ends to be sticking out or you would cut as close as you can to make sure the patient does not have my issues?
Again, I am not trying to finger point but to learn the dynamics of stitching as only God knows when and in what situation we might be, so it won't hurt to know what approach to take if left alone and with minimal equipment to handle such...

Loved all ur previous videos doc ❤️.
But this video is really troublesome bcoz it is very very difficult atleast to see the thread. For few students who actually have not much previous knowledge it is difficult to understand without noticing what's happening.
Hope u redo the video with a brighter suture material.

Can you alternate between a running and a locking suture? If the wound is large and trying to achieve hemostasis quickly, but you worry that the site may dehisce, would it be appropriate to throw something like 5:1 running to locking sutures?

I am a law school student, but love medicine. Glad I found ur channel. Anyways, do you have any videos talking about how they disinfect different wounds before suturing? Do they always use the brown stuff?

You wash the wound with Normal Saline and then apply Pyodine as an antiseptic unless the patient is diabetic then you use hydrogen peroxide instead of pyodine

Please can you redo the video with darker/black/thicker thread...it’s too hard to see with the light blue. Very nice video though.

Thanks so much for this series! Is there a reason why you didn't cross the streams when tying the first knot? In your previous video you mentioned to always cross them so was just wondering? :)

Agreed with other comments and want to ad mine to it to motivate you to update and improve because I find you to be an engaging and knowledgeable teacher. The video needs improved close ups as I lost the thread and slow down your tie off movements and really all of your movements so that a layman like myself can follow. Clearly you are a pro and extremely knowledgeable but with tutorials, a little “dumbing” it down is essential for building and keeping a following.

Looks like your just waving your hands around because the line is to light..a lot of people watch these on their phones so the suture needs to be a darker color I love your videos so you're awesome
