Doing the same, already setting the tracks by doing and learning anything in the medical field that is available like setting a course for EMT classes for a trauma background. It will get me accustomed to medicine, give me a lot of info, and I will be able to have a medical job while getting the education needed to get into a program, not to mention the show of balance and the edge of experience. Basically take every bit of information and experience you can, because many programs are cutthroat, and any edge you can get will be useful.

Thanks for making this! You answered my question a few months back about if surgical dexterity can be a learned skill, and this helps a ton! I'm wondering what your thoughts are on the increasing degree of specialization in surgical specialties in urban centers, and how this might reduce the variation in surgeries done by a surgeon? Is this the case, and what would you recommend for someone interested in surgery that still wants a good amount of novelty throughout their career?

Practice. Toastmasters group. Other public speaking opportunities at school career days. If you are too anxious to speak, how will you succeed?? Man up and just do it. I was shy until I had to teach a 4 hr class as part of my job. Made an outline. Told class 1st time. You don't have to be perfect except for the content. I eventually gave lectures to docs to propose a new service the pharmacy developed. A tough group until I gave a little bio ( nurse) and warm up. Hard to believe 20 yrs ago. Moved on to other specialties. You must communicate. Otherwise do I.T. nope not even that. IDK. Inderal helps.

So I was a pre med student n then after the first month I decided to drop out of medicine it seemed like I didn't like after that I stumbled upon one of ur vids n since then I feel like I started to have passion about doing medicine tho few weeks ago I was 100 percent abt leaving medicine forever n then I saw ur quitting vid n sharing ur experience really helped me but the thing is I kinda started regretting leaving medicine tho the field that I'm in now I'm so passionate abt it n I knew i had this passion for more than 3 yrs but after dropping out I kinda feel the urge to go back is that normal to happen when dropping or does it actually mean that I should go back for medicine?
BTW I kinda feel that I'm hugely affected by the way society looks to a doc vs the way it looks to ppl who r studying multimedia (which is what I went for)

Quick Question Dr. Jubbal. I have learned through my experience that obsessing over one thing initially leads to a loss of motivation/interest to do it long term. For example I decided to workout recently, and the first three days, I went all out with the exercises, trying to see noticeable differences in the first couple of days (which I actually did to some extant). But due to this obsession initially I lost my motivation and interest in the forthcoming days.
Is this what happened to you too? you got bored and your interest started to divert to other things because you felt like you already did much in the field of surgery?
So I guess the lesson would be to take things slowly at the proper pace - having balance.
