Yes, you should worry about GMAT scores for PhD programs. What do people look for with standardized tests for PhD programs? Most people are looking for a certain level of proficiency, and that they will sufficiently serve their institution well.
Why is GMAT and GRE scores a necessary but an insufficient measure for PhD programs? There are many other factors that are much more important than IQ or testing proficiency. For example, do you have research experience? Are you able to have a tremendous amount of grit? Do you have networks and data that might aid to the program.
    What are PhD GMAT requirements?
Generally, what a potential PhD supervisors are looking for is whether the candidate will make the program look good. One way to increase the attractiveness of a PhD program is by having all of their students having very high standardized test scores.
Another way of increasing the attractiveness of the PhD program is by having a number of students with publications when they enter the PhD program. You should look to start doing research first before you think about going to a PhD program. This will greatly help your case.
You should also look for the skills in which you can make other people look good, particularly with potential advisors. Do you have programming abilities? An amazing writer? You should emphasize these skills in your application.
What happens if you have a low GMAT score? I would suggest that you try to take the GMAT over again. This will greatly help you in the future.
While a high GMAT for a PhD will be important, the goal is to be well aware of what other people are doing and show how you can build their program.

David Maslach is a research professor of entrepreneurship, innovation, and business strategy, I discuss topics, such as behavioral science, strategy, innovation, and entrepreneurship, and apply these to my new peer proofreading and editing platform. Topics include the sharing economy, altruism, investing in technology, starting a business, and bounded rationality. My favorite videos pertain to incentives, goal setting, and learning from failure to drive behaviors such as weight loss, stopping telemarketers, creating novel technologies, and creating new movements.
r3ciprocity.com: Peer proofreading and editing platform
A new platform where you can earn credits by editing other people's documents. Use these credits to have your own work edited. If you do a good enough job, you can convert these credits to money.
The goal of the platform is to get people to 'pay it forward' and help other people out by creating incentives for people to give back.

I know a college freshman who walked in to the testing lab and took the GRE. Cold. Required for his program. Pair of 163s. Not bad.
