Thank you very much for sharing. I am currently an international freshman at the University of Arizona. There is no Petroleum at the campus. Could you tell me what to do next if I want to learn Petroleum, please? Also, does petroleum companies prefer to put the native students in prioritized position?
Hey Harry. Thanks for the question. If you want to pursue PE, then I would try to pick which college you'd like to attend as soon as possible. Once you know that, you can figure out when would be best to transfer and how to best make sure your courses will transfer. Your last question is hard to answer. It definitely seems most interns are natives but there are definitely still opportunities for internationals (especially with very large companies- majors like Chevron).
Harry Wu hello, if you want to study petroleum engr then you need to transfer to a school that offers that major. You could also get some other engineering degree and then continue to get either 2nd bachelors or a masters in petroleum. You could also study first 2 yrs at AZ and then transfer to a petroleum school (such as Wyoming, Co Mines, UT etc).
Harry Wu as I said in the video international students get at least 3 yrs of an OPT/work permit - so you can use the time to get the experience. Usually they don’t prefer if you’re foreigner or not, it’s all about immigration status
I'm an electronics graduate, and i attended petroleum production training during one year both theory and pratices and on the job traning. Now i got five year experience on oil field and i woulike to attend an online diploma in oil and gas management. That is why i'm writting to you if such a programm is offered into your institution.
@@tamiatakada7725 all institutions here require to go thru student visa process to get enrolled if you're to get a degree from here. Otherwise look for free online platforms (or paid). Maybe even oilfield basics has some material
@@tamiatakada7725 Oilfield basics doesn't currently offer what you're talking about, but im sure there are multiple educational institutions in USA that would. Just have to search for them. I don't know of any off the top of my head to recommend.
Is this a good time to get in Masters Petroleum and Gas Engineering, from job security point of view , given that Oil prices are negative & impact of falling demand might be there for sometime...
For free you can for graduate school. If you're getting a masters or PhD. First, just talk to professors about the research, they post info on their websites if they need people. Or you can apply to a bunch of schools and hope to get accepted. For bachelor's, don't know anyone who had it for free except those sponsored by their governments.

Hi. Could you give me some piece of advice? I want to become petroleum engineer. But I want to work on office. I want to understand what it looks like. Can you describe me or maybe you have a video.
Try to attend some companies, oil related events, they usually do tours. I've been to many companies despite that I never worked in the office. I visited BP, shell, marathon, slb, hallib, and many others
@@antiw11 That'd make a good video for sure but that is not my background. I currently do not have anyone lined up to discuss that. My recommendation would be to network- find some and connect with them. If possible, shadow them.
It would mostly be the same. I actually hang out a lot with AAPG (I mentioned it in the video), it's all similar. Few schools offer specific petroleum geo degree, but usually you'd get the geology degree with focus on petroleum. Similar process of working with the advisor and then networking to get the jobs or "just apply online"
Can u advice me on a matter please? Im a mechanical engineering graduate from India who would like to get an opening into oil drilling and production. I am looking forward to do a post graduate diploma in PETROLEUM engineering from UK. My concern is does this PG Diploma programmes usually works? Is it worth studying, I mean like do these employers entertain people with PG Diploma holders for employment? What I have learned is that there is a difference in MS and PGD on the subject which is a course project in the second year of MS.? Can you bring on some detail on the same please!!
Hello, what do you mean PG - petroleum geology? All UK univ should be good for petroleum too. Again, no guarantees of employment! Usually a graduate diploma is already good enough for engineering.

Do petroleum engineers always work on oilfields or then even work in offices like for a 9-5job??
they might do both.
