Our respectful salute 🫡
to each of these Skilled
group of Railway Workers
who are the Substratums
for our Train (Rail) Journey.
We owe our safety of travel
not only for this type of excellent
track's Thermite Welding, but, continuously checking & maintaining
the track journey is worthy.
Thanks to Railway Board, all the officials from A to Z & of course the The Railway Minister & Pradhan Sevak too.

These people contribution is similar to that of a soldier
Glory to our laborer, workers, farmers and engineers
Glory? How about decency? Like a living wage and protective gear?

I have seen thermite welding of rail tracks during 1974-75 period at my home town CHENGANNUR while converting metre gauge to broad gauge in the Trivandrum - Ernakulam stretch. But all the works were done manually those days. It is first time that I see a video of mechanically assisted thermite welding of rail tracks. A very good informative video for those interested. Hats off to the uploader as well as the welding team.
Excellent
Good work despite of less protective gears and practice.. Risking injuries to themselves... Railways must pay attention towards their safy..

Reaction is as follows
2Al + Fe203 ----> 2Fe(molten)+ Al203 + heat
This is highly exothermic reaction
This is balanced reaction
Thanks ❤️
As well as you forgot to write

And that is aluminium powder right
Its in class 10 syllabus
Most crude way of welding the tracks with shoddy workmanship and great risk to the welding staff and scant regard to environment
And personal safety no gloves or safety clothing
Thermite can melt concrete ...flesh would be like butter
I supplied this item with Abrasive cutter , Granding Machine , Rail Dolly other tools.I was there when they were working at Alipurduar.
How did you find the crack sir
Ok
But why aren't they wearing safety equipment like gloves helmet goggles and appropriate tools for removing molten material instead of pliers as used by gentleman in the video?

I read during college days about thermit welding and its use in railway track joining. After nearly two decades I saw a practical video on it. Its such a nice video watching some basic principles of metallurgy in work. Reduction of iron oxide with aluminium powder and the exothermic heat melts the iron which fills the join.
I think class 10 ncert ma bhi diya ha sure nhi hu
I also seen this type of welding joint In front our factory in Bangalore about three decade ago, this process is of Russian design.

This is the ONLY Indian video I've ever watched where the workers weren't wearing open- toed sandles. They got boots on! Good job!
Thing are changing, now actually on construction site you will see lot more people wearing hard hats and use modern tools.

Great video. Bt the worker safety conditions are bad. They don't have eye protection, hand gloves etc. Govt should spend some money for this necessary items .

Nice video .
Apart from the welding itself which was cool , I also think of the engineering skills of the people that design and build the equipment to make it happen.
Its anazing to see what the human mind is capable to create for good.

I have seen a video of Europe bit they were not using amy safety protocols.

First time seeing this welding, pahle bar dekh reh
I happened to come to this video from an earlier video I watched on Thermite welding. Though I like this video, 1st thing that struck me watching this is that workers were not using gloves.
Don't know if this is the issue with weather (sweltering hot & humid), but still think using heavy gloves will help from safety perspective not create problem.
I still remember, my father told me - 1st thing he did when he had to manage a defunct factory & restart production - of a famous household cleaning and cloth whitening chemical factory. He Helped workers by giving them gloves, because the chemicals used to make workers (mostly women) sick & they couldn't eat food properly for days due to smell of it that gets absorbed under skin.
Irrelevant comment.

No employees using personal safety equipment. No glasses, no gloves, no leg protection. Working with molten metal without proper precautions. It seems to me that India has a lot to evolve in terms of work safety and respect for the human being of the worker.
I love all the safety equipment they use 😆 man I can hear the reprimand once the door closes
It's a great learning...Matter of pride how our Railmen are mastering the work with display of skill managing the work group... congratulations!!

Excellent welding work. Good information for engineering students. India Railways is a miracle and symbol of national unity and pride. All this is made possible because of these workers and full team whose names may not have been inscribed near any railway station. Such nameless workers have made India what we see today. All the users of Indian Railways must salute such teams and wish them safety, security, health and well being. Good roads and good ,safe well welded failsafe railway tracks are extremely important for prosperity of our country. Till some new technology comes in use I hope this may continue and it's good demo of exothermic bimetallic reaction in action.

This welding is copied from western countries, it's old technology.

❤❤❤ I don’t know if
The thermite welding of the rails in situ
has been shown which gives an idea for a lay man.
The cutting of slag and extra metal
Over the rail head and sides has not
been shown by which the vedio
is only half and create doubts
in the minds of the laymen as to
how the train can b allowed.
However good efforts have been taken
to educate the people with regards

Good method but they don't follow safety rules
Follow safety rules at your home
There is no law and rule there.
The contractor is ignorant, self motivated, health and safety offices are ignorant and idiots, the lawmakers are ignorant and selfish, who protect their rights for safety? .
This is the only country in the world, who has no rules for protecting the health of workers .
In the hotels they serve with bare dirty hands. No handles.
No dishwasher and no cleaning service, no trash dumping.
No spoons and fork used , no toilet paper and no public toilets . Dirty, unsanitary and unhygienic places in the world.
No primary facilities in the country , but has a lander in moon, toilet in moon.

Gas welding is better option. In Thermit welding there is chance of gap which molten metal may leak out. 🔥🔥
But the technology is being used by India railways by more than half a century.
No . You are wrong
Thermit welding is the best option requires less energy and costs less as well as quick.
Gas welding is not possible for such huge gaps
Railway technical team knows better
Gas welding is not done to heavy load bearing items ., Either electric welding or thermite welding works ..
👍👍
Very antiquated and slow method.
Great work and service
Still very manual if machines were introduced these people could have done these works in more efficient ways with higher productivity
skill that makes perfection ..

Encouraging clip a big thumbs 👍
Highly informative video!
Though I appreciate the hard work done by the team in thermit welding, Imagine the work force needed and the cost involved including the machinery and the time it takes. Has technology is at standstill and we are poor in R&D.Imagine the total cost involved in joining many rails. One answer is corruption😂 in the railway ministry. The contractor is the benefeciary and not the tax payer.
Keep sharing such type of practical and informational videos 🧡🙏
