    Nice video. These little guys are among my favorites. I will actually use more with OSD, helps me get the tune done faster. Without osd I just fly the pack or packs, then make small changes. Takes me many flight sessions before I get a tune I am happy with. OSD also helps me discern if one battery is better than another. Waiting for a custom frame to do another 130 with the FuriousFPV piggy OSD.

    Love the little 808 cameras. I have a 808, a möbius, and a runcam 2. I think my 808 sees more flight time than any of the others.

      @AndyRCchannel  8 років тому

      thanks for watching. i think 4s could be too much with this prop size but i will try it out

    • @blackmennewstyle
      @blackmennewstyle 8 років тому

      AndyRC Just be careful because these motors can handle pretty easily 4S but maybe not these DYS ESCs though...

    • @AndyRCchannel
      @AndyRCchannel  8 років тому

      no id have to switch the escs, but this is my worry, the motors state they can take 4S but with these props they are already performing like a 4s, so my worry is that a 4s on this frame will burn the motors up, which is why i kept it 3s. the numbers dont quite add up to justify a 4s

    • @blackmennewstyle
      @blackmennewstyle 8 років тому

      AndyRC A lot of people are using the EMAX RS1306 4000KV on 4S Andy and they are handle it pretty well, thrust is just awesome :)

      yes but i also see a lot saying the motors are overheating ;)

  • @Quarkburger

    Great video. Thank you. I have purchased the kit and followed the instructions to build and set up the quad. I'm up to the betaflight configurator on the receiver page. I've turned on my Taranis and plugged the battery into the quad, and I do not see R,P,Y or T responding to my controller inputs. The receiver should be bound to the Taranis because when I unplug the quad my Taranis reports that the signal is lost, and I did hear at 18:14 in the video that I need to plug the cable into the left side port for SBUS. Any ideas where to look to solve this issue?

    • @Quarkburger

      I do have one final problem... I've calibrated the ECSs on the motor page, and all motors work fine except for one that does not go full speed and rotates back and forth rather than in one direction. Could this be a signal problem or ESC problem?

    • @AndyRCchannel

    great vids Andy thanks for sharing 😀 question... do you ever consider the thread direction on the motors on your builds? every one says you can change the motor direction in the software but does this not mean your props may undo the nuts if you have the thread direction all messed up??🤔

    • @maxxiang8746
      @maxxiang8746 6 років тому

      you have to buy two of two motors; two that the threads go ccw, and two that go cw.

    every time i get close to choosing a micro to learn acro fpv, another great quad appears, great review. i was wondering if using the 12v bec on a 3s system might be causing some rf noise?.. i use this pdb on a 4s quad feeding my vtx 12v and my vtx feeds my cheapo fake ccd camera 5v... crystal clear, now if only i could actually fly fpv.

    What flight mode are you running at 39:18?

  • @davidfurniss4648
    @davidfurniss4648 8 років тому

    Great build and video. Is there a particular PDB you would choose for this build with a better regulator and maybe a layout that suits the frame really well? I guess you don't get the full 12V with a 3s.

    • @AndyRCchannel
      @AndyRCchannel  8 років тому

      id go for one where the wires dont have to cross over the regulator i believe that could be the source of the noise

    Andy, which do you prefer to fly, this quad or the Tarot 130 you reviewed earlier. I am curious as I would like to buy a 130 sized quad and not sure which I prefer. The GB130 looks better for modifications but I am not sure if it performs as well as the Tarot 130. Any advice welcome.

    Hi, thanks for the video! I'm thinking of building this but I have some questions:
    1) does it fly ok with 2 cells if I want a bit less power?
    2) is it relatively quiet compared to other drones this size?
    3) about how much run time per charge on the recommended batteries?
    thanks and sorry if the questions were answered in the video.
    thanks again and please keep up the good work!
    regards.

    Is it really necessary to set up the failsafe 3 times? You did it on your radio, then you gave the information via the connection to your receiver and finally you set it up in betaflight. Wouldn't it be enough to just activate the drop-option in betaflight? Thanks for your great videos - you just got a new subscriber

      I usually buy the matek type that has the ESC power pads grouped properly (a positive and ground in each corner, kinda), so hopefully this will be okay. I'd ordered the components to do a build on this frame just before you published this video - looking forward to putting it together.

    Excellent video Andy, might well get this as separate components and use a Runcam Eagle because it's so nice with my Dom 3s. But don't you think there's an issue with those cheap JST connectors, with a 4 cell the motors can pull over 40 amps, less with 3 cell, but still?

    Hi, can you help me with my quadcopter.
    I'm making it on QAV 250 frame. I am using 2300kv brushless motors, 12A ESC and 5inch triple blade propellers.
    I'm using Arducopter 2.5 as flight controller and 3 cell LiPo 11.5V battery.
    For transmitter I'm using Flysky 2.4 Ghz 6 Channel transmitter.
    The problem is that I am getting enough thrust to lift the quadcopter but the problem is that it is not getting balanced in the air and it trips. While programming APM Planner says, "Compass not healthy."
    can you please help me with this problem.

    Andy - I'm considering a 130 size due to a change in the law that restricts the use of quads over 250g. Would you still recommend a scratch build with the decreasing prices/availability of models such as the Tarot 130 or the Eachine Racer 130? A 130 build with 1306 motors and LB20s (or similar) will easily top $200 and the aforementioned models are selling for around $165. Thanks!

    I want a micro for when i go to the park with my daughter. Is this overkill and worth the build or buy Tarot 130 ?
    I did buy a qx70 and put the parts into a lantian frame with higher rpm motors as it was crap, but its no good for windy days. Fun on a still day though.
    Dont realy need a super racer for this purpose as i have a 220 and 250 already but they are overkill for a local park.

      AndyRC Cool. Now, slightly otp but do you think that strapping an 808 to an h502s can cause interferencies to the gps?
      I am a bit disappointed by thge low quality of the stock cam. And from a dead battery. And from a noisy motor gear that seems to have not something stuck in it but it goes trtrtrtrtrtrtr. (Even if it flies, I am afraid to burn one of his motors, in flight!).
      When/if you find some time maybe take a look on the various h502s that I've put on. If you want I'll give the precise links.
      And maybe let me think what you suggest about.
      Thank you again

      Others ideas for the cam: put the h501s module in it
      // or the 808 inside the belly, or to strap a run cam 2 that is shielded, or...?
      Have you any cool ideas? Maybe you can do a mod/vid. I think it will be a success.
      p.x.: I brought the h502s even after seen your entusiast video on it.

    • @AndyRCchannel

      yes they are two separate systems. if the flight controller locks up the fial safe could not work so its best to set both up

      AndyRC so it's kind a backup failsafe ? Is there's any brand (except Taranis) have this kind of feature ?? Or its just Taranis ??

    I am surprised about the power it has on 3S. Flight time of 5mints is very nice. Are that 3045 tri blades you get with it?
    I start with 3S but i am ordering 4s 850mah. Hope my frame arrives coming week.

    awesome vids Andy, watched alot of them. i just ordered a picnic quad frame to start my build. also had a question for u. i have a jj1000 with 8.5mm motors and need a higher c battery because it cuts power with 380mah 25c ebay blue batterys. which high c rated nanotech would be comparable to it size and weight? figure u have a bunch of batterys laying around lol. thanks

    Great video as ever. I would buy the components for this in a millisecond if I knew I wouldn't get stung for extortionate duty/handling fees. Any time I buy something from BG or GB, it happens. They all get shipped from China so it's deemed an import. You're based in the UK Andy and I'm in Ireland, so similiar rules would apply to you too. How can these fees be avoided? Sorry for rant.

    Don't all these quads start to feel the same? You have all the QX series plus probably dozens more. Given similar handling characteristics, what would make this quad worth buying at nearly $200, over just building a micro brushed for less than 1/2 price?

    • @AndyRCchannel
      @AndyRCchannel  8 років тому

      they are all different in fact u can build identical quads and they fly different. its a bit like saying whats the point of having a show that reviews cars when they all have four wheels and drive on the road. but each one is different and quads are much more affordable than cars... and more fun in my opinion also :) this one will have around 5 times the power of a brushed quad

    The reason there are two ground wires is because one is for grounding the esc to the fc and the pdb! You really should ground the esc to the fc also, it completes the circuit?!! Gr8 video!!

    Short post:
    I've ordered the drone after this video. The package has been send back to GearBest due to the wrong address on the package. Now Gearbest is offering me two options:
    1) Pay an additional 95USD to resend the package
    2) receive 90USD as Store credits as a compensation.
    They did not offer any full refund (or resend), because they are claiming the postal service is in fault, while the address on the paypal invoice is correct!
    Due to this issue (which was my first order on GearBest), I will not order anything from them anymore. They've lost any thrust from my end!
    This is just a warning for people who might consider ordering at GearBest.

    • @leonardvdj
      @leonardvdj 8 років тому

      Reason im asking is, i have some spare Runner 250 motors(from a broken runner hehe), and wanted to see if they'd fit. i think the holes are 12mm diagonal

    • @AndyRCchannel
      @AndyRCchannel  8 років тому

      u need higher kv than the runner motors. u wont get much thrust otherwise like the jjpro p130. go with the dys 4000kv of the red bottoms in this vid it will save u in the long run
      u would have to drill to get 250 motors to fit it.

    • @leonardvdj
      @leonardvdj 8 років тому

      And you dont think i'd be able to get any decent thrust out of maybe a 4-blade prop?

    • @AndyRCchannel
      @AndyRCchannel  8 років тому

      i wouldnt say so you need higher revs to get power out of a smaller prop. you would be better off building a 200+ sized model from them

      Get your self a good solider iron with a fine tip. Pick up some flux & solider wick to remove excess solider that you get on the board. Plus get a Multi Meter to check your boards...Look at the videos from Blue Falcon or Jason Bardwell between those 2 you can fix or prevent a screw up. Between those 2 you'll be able to prevent any issues that could pop up. Good Luck!
