- Imleria badia, commonly known as the bay bolete, is an edible, pored mushroom found in Europe and North America, where it grows in coniferous or mixed woods on the ground or on decaying tree stumps NEVER EAT ANY MUSHROOM YOU'RE NOT 100% SURE OF
I went into Petts Wood South London yesterday on my first hunt found about 8 of these - I washed them (I know not meant to) as hate all the grit and bits on them and the thought of maggots so cut them up. The pores acted like a sponge so cut them off - lots better without them!
The blue bruising and sticky top are the best identification
Great video. Helped me 100% confirm my finds. Now time for garlic mushrooms on toast, or maybe a bacon and mushroom risotto!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge of good mushroom research skills 👍😁
The stickiness maybe sap from the trees but some Bolete mushooms do produce slime when wet?
Lol give it to the husband for the taste test
'cos I have no sense of taste!
If poison he’s the first to meet Jesus in person 😂😂😂😂
What indetification book are you using? Thank you
Roger phillips mushrooms thanks for watching Josip
i think thats a Cep....Boletus Edulis, not Boletus Badius
No reticulation on the stipe.
Edulis do not bruise blue, these are definitely bay boletes.
