Totally agree on the apes question. My Indian Springfield stock bars were just too low for me (I'm 6'2" tall). I had apes installed that brought my hands to shoulder level, and the change was incredible. More comfortable to ride, but I also had much better control in low-speed turns.
After two back surgery's all, I can ride with is ape hangers. No more back pain. And you are so right about the trade-in. Thank you for all you do keep up the good work.
Very valid points, I will say this though about Jerry. He is one of the people that put the motorcycle courses on the map and has been doing this for 40 plus years . His Pro Rider schools are very good and he does know his stuff. You should check out some of his demonstrations for sure. I agree with you 100% though, you find what works for you and some bikes I want to ride a certain way and other bikes I might want something different. Either way, like you said, spend your time on your bike and not the internet ;)

Back in cali in the late 70 early 80s ape hangers were a 1% thing, cali made a law that if your handle bars were above your shoulder it was against the law. So only 1% had them with dental mirror mounted as their rear view mirror and if they got stopped they would pull them forward to lower them when they got checked.
Interesting story and concept. I have heard guys doing that at the police harassment events such as Sturgis or Daytona. Guys would keep their clamps lose so they could pull their apes down.
One of the first things I did after getting my 2022 road king was change my bars. The stock bars were uncomfortable as hell. Like you said, to each their own when it comes to your bike and riding style.

I had an 08 UC that has stock bars. I traded it in for a 13 RK with 16" apes that at first I was worried about getting use to. After about 5 miles they felt like I've been riding with them forever. You are right... everyone needs to ride their own ride. Peace

The stock bars on the Roadglide are the worst! I have the BUNGKING bars. What a difference. I did an install video on my channel. Warning I’m low budget channel lol.
Kinda hard to explain. Basically, when you push left you go left, push right you go right. I call it cross bar steering for some dumb reason lol but yes it's counter steering.

jerry is the KING of slow riding and 80% of riders can only ride fast well you're bike don't even need you on it at fast speed Jerry is a Beast that is what his channel is about and he's right really high bars and huge wheels are not good for slow riding i have 12 inch FBI bars on my street glide and i learned how to slow speed ride with his channel..
Cool story. Lol but 98% of bikers want to ride their bikes, not sit in parking lots. The only ones that do the slow bs are cops, ever notice that? And saying at fast speeds the bike rides itself tell me how much you haven't learned about riding. Lol just saying.
@@dannydlowbikertv I’ve put down miles and blasted curves in them. I find them the better option even when getting on and off the bike. Some apes can get in the seating area and hinder getting on the bike. Apes are also in my observation most susceptible to rolling and needing adjustment, my set up hasn’t needed to be touched.
I think most people just assume ape hangers are just for aesthetics but they definitely serve a purpose for taller people. I’m 6 foot and there’s no way I could ride more than an hour with drag bars
I'm 5'8... I prefer 14 inch bars personally but I like my bar a little taller. 12s, put me about should height which most people want to be about there.
Thank you for this. I'm a short rider with short arms and I struggle to turn a heavy bike with wide bars. Apes give me much better leverage and buckhorns suit my weakish hands and wrists. Once you get used to them, they're peachy😊
