Doesnt look like a traffic jam. I see room to move and drive. They simply got high enough up and stopped to wait it out before returning home.
Yep if you live in a heavily populated area you might as well forget trying to leave in an automobile because you'll be stuck in traffic when it hits, best thing to do is run like hell to the nearest high building or ground elevation. Lots of people died in Japan in their cars thinking they could outrun a tsunami.
That's crazy! I just said the very same sort of comment on another channel where they are claiming its "safe" and "no longer a threat". If I recall correctly didn't they say that about Japan too??

I dunno, A car could still easily get you out the immediate danger zone quick, Most traffic you see is in areas people gather for saftey etc. It woudn't be so bad just driving out your neigbourhood usually....you don't need to drive too far...Obviously if the street you live on is blocked, walk it...but most would be fine driving short distance with little girdlock & can carry stuff they needs etc, esepcially if yoy have kids & wider family

NZ has never been damaged by a tsunami, the earth quakes don't produce them.

But pre-historically our NZ tsunamis are some of the world's largest. Hundreds of feet high. Just not that big in modern recorded history. One was 8m high in 1868 though.
Earthquakes, landslides, mountain collapses- both above sea & under sea can all create tsunamis. I would suggest that large caldera type eruptions might too. As could asteroids/large space objects.

There was tsunami surge at tutukaka and tokomaru Bay. Better safe than sorry.
I have just talked to someone who was informed by the guy that built most of the marinas in NZ and lives on the point at Tutukaka, he said there was no tsunami. This is all media lying shit and shit to make the fuckwit prime minister look good in the eyes of the dumb people.

This would happen in any major met area when asked to flee. People never feel it’s worth building infrastructure for these events until a major catastrophe occurs. They’re lucky this time.

Exactly and if it was a big one Kaos most of those people's would be wiped out on this footage in minutes never make it to high grounds governments politicians people's have no idea too busy being bees in the behive no one should be building near coasts line but governments greedy they should have listened to the moari they knew not to aotearoa had heaps of big tsunami before and these are warning signs what will happen no one would be prepare for it .like you said governments infrastructure and how they plan things they not thinking right .

Traffic jams going in both directions, I heard that all of the videos are of any footage from other events that happened.
@@grancito2 they are not traffic jams, just lots of cars parked on either side of the road on higher ground. You can clearly see the center of the road is clear.

@@grancito2 yup that they do, all parked up . Theres even people walking amongst the cars. Notice how they are all parked close to a nearby water reservoir/tank?
That's because it's the highest point in that area. Alot of those people where probably sleeping/waiting in their cars.
To be a traffic jam they would have to be all moving/trying to get somewhere but they are stationary/parked up. The trucks blocking intersections probably dont have alot of room to park on the side of a hilly road.

some people do that , I remember the earthquake 8.8 in Chile while in CH CH and seeing the head of civil defense of Sumner going to the beach to look at , after the warnings , and Sumner is surrounded by high hills .

Other than your family members, what else can never be replaced? The Family Albums. Old pictures of our ancestors, great great grandparents, great grandparents, grandparents, parents, our children, familial memories would get wet and fall apart and can never be duplicated. Everything else, for the most part, can be replaced.
They need to say in the evacuation warnings, do not get in your car, walk to the nearest safe point. Unless you are incapable of walking due to age or disability.

I'd be driving up the Hill don't worry about taking the roads if I was trying to get my family out safely Or just taking bags on our backs and walking to a safe area. No urgency here. Hope everyone is safe!

I think it depends, doesn't it. If you realistically can stick to your car then so much the better: It's faster, safer, quicker. But once traffic builds up, the car ceases to have those advantages.
