The moment you realize that bass lines that play like this are rare... This group played with their souls you can feel the the hard work and connection... Daaaaam
The tuning makes for incredible playing possibilities, absolutely incredible and mind-boggling; out on the field their sound is lost. I miss the projection and beautiful omniscient tone of the older basses, they drove the whole corps. These drums could qualify as baritone drums, it could be cool to add real bass drums to the line!
@@tambourvideo I agree that these may be a little too high, but as bass drum music continues to evolve and the splits get crazier, it's better to have them tuned higher so you can hear everything hit better. It really depends on what the line is playing when it comes to how low or high they're tuned IMO.
I've been out of the DCI game for over a decade - what's up with some Corps utilizing oddly sized bass drums now? 4th bass is the same size as 2nd bass but tuned lower - 5th bass looks like a 3rd bass. Did I miss out on something? Edit: Maybe it was my perspective - at another angle 4th bass looks slightly larger than 2nd bass, but 3rd bass is definitely an inch smaller than 2nd bass.
Optical illusion caused by a number of factors (camera angle, lens aperture, external muffling foam, etc). The drums are all different sizes, but without any skipped "in between" sizes. They're so close in size, that it's difficult to see the difference. Look at the font sizes and how much is covered by the foam from drum to drum and you'll notice subtle differences. Also, bass 1 and 2, you can see a clear difference with mounting of the emblem on the shell.
@@fontcaicoya5686 You're welcome. There are some points in the video that if you pause it, the size differences are obvious. Also of note (for anyone insisting that at least the top 3 are the same size), bass 1 is 8 lug. Bass 2-4 are 10 lug. I didn't bother to count the lugs on bass 5 since it's obviously the largest (they might have skipped a size between 4 and 5). Around the 3:30 mark, it's obvious that bass 3 is larger than bass 2.
RIP HB, Holy Bass…you will be missed. 🥺

Hell yeah ❤
I love that Taiko-like tone the drums have near the rim at 1:33
you guys were on fire this year, and of course the editing was as well.
they shopped at the note store and bought all they had.
Thanks for waking my wife up because you made me laugh in bed.
The intensity in the front girls face is ✌🏻❤️perfection
I love me some clean splits and unisons. Thanks for the video!
Geez those are tuned high, kinda sounds like hitting a ball. Great splits though
It sounds odd up close, but from the stadium seats, the overtones are inaudible.
Right? I used to play bass and they toned them lower and they had a deep musical tone to them
But its that holy bass signature 😂

Those are some crazy clean splits! Freakin awesome!!!
Agreed: you can tell from the live audience how intent they are listening (and applause after). Awesome splits…
Under utilized in every marching band. I did this in Highschool. We had some killer cadences
you definitely weren't playing DCI splits in high school.
@@cm9241 you’d be surprised😭
All I can say is Damn that's good. I was a Bass player from 79to 83. Loved it.
Unison rim shots 😍

Keaton Pickett I don’t get it
Anthonyi143

Was bass 5 twice, 4 once, and 3 once. T was my fav to play ❤❤
Living in dark times when this video has less than a 100,000 likes
lol a year has passied and it doesnt even have 1 percent of 100,000 like
Love the bass
hi ghostface
Is it just the camera or are these things tuned super high
that's cadets tuning i think lol
It’s just because it’s being filmed from up close, I don’t think this is much different from the average corps tuning
Watching in 2020, you can hear the air coming out of the drums lol
5:35
Sheesh I love the rolls, they’re just tuned way to high.
5:08 that click 😳
tuning is nasty, it sounds so high and metallic
Bashdrummerofficial REV the sound is completely different from out front. They have tuned the drums like this for years and years.
Micah Lall-Trail oh what do you know, drum corps has changed in the last 40 or so years, who could have possibly predicted that
I agree, I also don't like the way white yamaha heads sound in particular
Wow - amazing
Honestly the tuning is probably just because the thin plasticy stock heads combined with the external muffling, the remo suede heads sound much fuller
Bass 5 is a mean lookin dude lol
Pasta he’s not
He's really chill
@@zachkatz2327 You know him too?
@@paytonyaffe3199 I'm sure he's cool, just intimidating af
Pasta hes our snare/bass tech at jp taravella and he also works with stoneman douglas really cool guy!

So sick
very clean
Personally I think that Boston had the best bassline this year but, this is a solid line
Agreed. idk why I slept on the cadets all season
What about SCV Bassline?
@@Hunterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr - Boston 2018 bass beats SCV bass for me

Holy crap.
Hi Josh

Stupid Dope! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Nice but I wish the bass drums went down to 8".
No I mean 8"!! Do it! ok maybe 10"
I think he meant stick heights
Colin Gele I want 8" bass drums! Not just toms, I want special made 8" bass drums!
@@ThenVersusNow_ what in the fuck

Idk @aaronmills sounds kinda choppy... what do you think?
That bass one tho
1:08 that gurl is staring into your soul i swear --
She Can Stare Into Mine Whenever She Wants
Bass 1 needs a hug. Can it be from me?
I assume Bass 2 is the section leader because he's the one doing all the tap offs.
Typically, bass 2 will be the section leader
@@cactusfishy1596 I can confirm this. I was section leader of the bass line last year at my school and did in fact play Bass 2
Nasty!!!
😱😱😱🔥🔥
🥜🥜🥜
Encourage your bass line and even your whole drumline to count out loud! It helps so much
Those are tuned WAY too high!!!
Just need to tune it down a little the bass don’t sound like a bass I’m part of my school band and my bass drum do not sound like
And I bet these basses sound better then yours 😂
Tuning is gross
D1SxK1DxB3AST Pretty sure it was just the heads. Didn’t really catch my liking tbh
Cintora Music the muffling
not meant for close up listening. Its meant for a football field.
D1SxK1DxB3AST go back to fortnite dude if you don't know your shit
