WTG! Good job on the restore and the engine sounds great and I would guess it welds like a dream. I have a 1962 redface blue dial. I bought the welder from a grandson of a deceased farmer who told me it was a 1953. I bought the welder for 650$ loaded it onto my trailer and after I got home I decided to run the model number on Lincoln's web site where I was glad to find that is was a 62. It ran and welded but had only one upgrade and that was a points and condenser in place of the magneto. Anyway I have just bought and received every upgrade you can go with about 1,800 $ worth and am about to start the restore process. You've got a great welder there, hang on to it. Nothing welds and performs like an old SA-200.
I wire wheeled the frame and removed the loose rust and treated it with rust etching primer, turning the rust into black carbon. Wire brushed the frame again to remove loose deposits , primed it with two coats of Rust-Oleum professional primer, and then two coats of paint.
@@houstonbigfooter It could be that the air/fuel adjustment screw on the carb needs adjusting. Bad plug wires and spark plugs that I've found on other machine can cause the cough issue.
try a new zenith carb on it. i have a 64 redface and it ran perfect but burned a little oil so i am rebuilding it and almost have it finished. or rebuild your old carb and use only non ethanol gas in it.
@@mauriciosaldana6207 It all depends on the condition of the machine from the beginning. My engine was all rebuilt to like new condition. The generator was in good condition along with exciter and coils. Lots of cleaning and prep work. I ended up spending around $5000.00 in the end. Allot depends on how far you want to go.
thanks for responding appreciate it.My question is in regards to the cross-country 300 what is your opinion on that ,on that welder . I'm also thinking of buying one of those or just rebuilding one of my sa200. What is your opinion on the cross-country if you may.
@@mauriciosaldana6207 I don't know much about the Cross Country 300. The SA 200 is much simpler to work on, and there is a market for new and old parts if needed to get back up and running. The only drawback to the SA 200s is fuel consumption compared to the diesel.
I still love hearing that auwhoo when you strike up! Nothing sounds better!
Looks very clean. That sure looks like a spoon rain guard.
Yes it is. looking at the original parts diagram shows them being used.
That machine is flat out a beauty!
Very much agree. Excellent work on restoration
that is slick. that machine is still better than any new ones they sell now
Yeah! I love the way this old welder turned out, and it is very consistent and welds excellent!
Beautiful machine. Great job restoring
Gorgeous!! I could hear that thing run all day!!!
Awesome machine, would love to own one 👍

Omg that’s music to my ears and candy for the eyes! 👀
man i would kill for a machine that looks half this good
Beautiful, I have a red face that I’m going to restore shortly
Badass red face out there .. clean like new
If that is all original that machine was likely well taken care of. My sa200 is missing alot of that. I hope I can bring it back to that state.
Most of that was replaced or added on. These things were very simple machines when they were made.
Great restoration job. Very clean and tidy. Looks like your 1-wire alternator regulator has failed in full field though based on the volt meter.
I ended up changing the volt meter out for another as this one was defective. The Alternator is putting out around 14.4 volts.
Very nice looking unit, them old girls are really worth fixing up and modernizing. Kinda porn for welders!
I am going to restore my 1964 sa200. I would love any advice you could give me. I subscribed if you are going to post more videos .
Very clean and neat.....great job !
Wow you’re an artist
Was it difficult to restore everything? Easily to find all parts?
Hey is that a spoon for your rain cap? Looks cool I want ☝️ one
No, that was the original rain cap from the factory. Lincoln shows it in a dimensions diagram.
Pretty cool sound
Looks great.......thanks for the close up of the code location.....I can't find mine, and it's not on faceplate.
Thanks! ...Your Welcome
Where did you get that stainless spoon? Is there a link to that one? Slick machine man
Thanks.
It's a Miller killer ya buddy nothing runs like a Lincoln
She’s a beaut!
Nice! However, that battery is bouncing around a lot.
Sweet looking welding machine. What does a rebuilt machine like this cost you?
Definitely a beauty
Thanks ! Lot's of time and patients to get it looking this good.
Thats gorgeous
Impressive !!!
Did you take it to bare metal then primer? I got some spots to shiny metal but having a hard time getting the original primer to come off

That looks like a spoon at the top of the exhaust?
Where did you get the spoon exhaust top?
That's original component to that yr machine, my '60 red/blue dial has same stainless spoon.....Regards from S. TX.
This is sooooo fuckin' sweet!
I have a 63 code 5108. Mine has a bad cough that I can't get rid of.
Welding of Texas, LLC my 64 does and ive already adjusted the valves.it still does it.

How much would it cost to restore one exactly like that one
It would all depend on the condition of the machine, and how much of the original parts can be used to make it reliable.
What type of paint did you use
I used Massey Ferguson Gray made by Rustoleum from Tractor Supply
Wow that's pretty
I don't weld but I want one
Has the original direct shaft armature
This is the only machine that I've ever seen that didn't come with the flex plate.
2 2 nice
What did you paint it with?
I used Massey Ferguson Gray from Tractor Supply
Also, I used Rustoleum red primer on everything prior to painting.
Over 16 volts charging will cook the battery.
That has been replaced with a new gauge.
@@CJ7fun-zv2hs I thought it could have been not working also, usually more common to not charge at all than to over charge.
I would like it better on my truck

No Sir, I plan on keeping this one.
