And while I do not deny that this harassment does not go on now, but how would you feel if society slowly started to integrate typically black hairstyles into common place?
As a black girl myself(this is my opinion ), it's not that I think it's bad just as long as you don't claim that you invented the hairstyle(looking at you Kim with those Walmart box braids). the invention of wigs by Egyptian royalty and while this was around 2700 BCE, a white man in 1870’s also invented a front lace wig used to cover up baldness while still having a natural look of hair. although Egyptians (egyptians came in many shades of brown and white a lot like southern or coastal european countries or western asian countries like india) were the first to come up the idea of wigs a white man was the first to come up with lace front wigs. i would give both ethnicities credit for their inventions especially on how big of the impact it has on everyday modern life. not only did women take this invention but so did african americans in the 1900’s. i hope you know that i am not coming for anyone and that i understand why black women adopted this invention because of the troubles they faced because of their skin color or hair type. but we have to understand that our world has been around for a very long time and that every culture and religion has been robbed of the owner ship of an idea or object. i think that anyone and everyone should be able to do what they want as long as they know the history of it and that it won’t effect that person health negatively like women with straight hair that get box braids. i think that it is time to just appreciate everyone and everyone’s culture and learn how to be respectful and open to other people appreciating it.

First and foremost ANCIENT EGYPTIANS were different shades of BLACK, Not White! The Egyptians that occupy modern day Egypt ARE NOT the original people! They’re of Arab & European decent. The ORIGINAL Arabs are BLACK, not this whited out version you see on TV, but dark black. Europeans have spent thousands of years RAPING and pillaging everywhere they went.. emphasis on RAPING! It is what they did in the Americas with the NATIVE BLACK people that were there, what they did to the Mexicans in Mexico, what they did to the Aboriginals in Australia, same thing in Brazil, Puerto Rico, Cuba, DR,.. you get the point ( they didn’t get everyone everywhere they went, although they surely tried)! Besides even if a “WHITE MAN” created the first lace front, wigs were invented by BLACK EGYPTIANS! He didn’t invent Jack.. what he did was modified someone else’s idea/invention per usual practice of Europeans. First off, I think everyone is able to wear there hair However they want. I think it’s fine to have braids in your hair. But there’s a difference between like French braids or two little pigtail braids and box braids. Box braids are not good for people with thin hair. It can cause hair loss and other damaging effects. In my opinion as a BLACK FEMALE who has been getting her hair braided for my whole life, I have no issue with non-black people getting box braids. It’s just not good for certain types of hair🤷🏾♀️ but other than that, I think you did a good job on your hair n if u like it then keep it like that. There’s bigger concerns than what race gets to wear what hairstyles ⚠️this is just my opinion n if u don’t agree then keep it moving babes⚠️
@@madiscott6869 I mean i was just saydin yk like it’s not even worth the fight at this point bc it’s there hair loss not mine 🤷🏾♀️ not tranna be rude but it’s true
@Nae_was_here not all white people have thin hair. I'm white. I've been wearing boxbraids and other styles since I was a child because my Nordic ancestors wore them. My hair is just fine and has never fallen out. Braids don't just belong to black people or culture. Other cultures wore them long before or at the same time. I've seen black women whose hairlines go so far back because these styles aren't always for them either. They have hair fallout or can't grow hair at all, so they wear wigs and braid fake hair in with their real hair. I can braid the entire length of my hair and be fine.
@@Beatngu23 and that is perfectly fine honestly I don’t care abt who wears what hairstyle but from my perspective it is still damaging to the hair. I know there’s white people who have very nice and thick hair but still. I have ALOT OF HAIR n it’s THICK n the braids still damage my hair sometimes but at the end of the day honestly who cares like it’s not that deep
Ngl I agree, I don’t care if people have braids the only time I’m like discouraging it is if I don’t think it’ll suite the person getting them but that isn’t a option formed based off race it’s just like every other style with it suite the person or not. At the end of the day if that person like their hair a certain way everyone else can kick rocks it’s not deep
the funny thing is braided hair is actually originally white person culture with vikings, they used the braided hair first. so if it’s not okay for a white girly to wear braids because of “cultural appropriation” then actually it’s the black people in the wrong… but i think everyone and anyone should be allowed to braid there hair whether it’s with box braids or just their natural hair
The braids were often used to relay messages between slaves, signal that they were going to escape, or even used to keep gold and seeds to help them survive after they would run away.
those are corn rows, they were used to protect kinky or curly hair, while also serving the purpose of making a symbol for different pathways, escape routes, etc. box braids were made for more of a protective hairstyles and were also used to symbolize a sign of wealth or even what tribe you are apart of.
And if you knew the history you wouldnt be so racist about it. Historically white people wear braida and dreads for centuries. 😒 Good lord the entitlement of you ppl
Lots of girls did actually, lots of women braided their hair before going to sleep to prevent knots. It’s only become fashionable as of lately (think within the last 10-15 years) so the only difference is they aren’t hiding what they look like at home.

For real
the invention of wigs by Egyptian royalty and while this was around 2700 BCE, a white man in 1870’s also invented a front lace wig used to cover up baldness while still having a natural look of hair. although Egyptians (egyptians came in many shades of brown and white a lot like southern or coastal european countries or western asian countries like india) were the first to come up the idea of wigs a white man was the first to come up with lace front wigs. i would give both ethnicities credit for their inventions especially on how big of the impact it has on everyday modern life.
not only did women take this invention but so did african americans in the 1900’s.
i hope you know that i am not coming for anyone and that i understand why black women adopted this invention because of the troubles they faced because of their skin color or hair type.
but we have to understand that our world has been around for a very long time and that every culture and religion has been robbed of the owner ship of an idea or object. i think that anyone and everyone should be able to do what they want as long as they know the history of it and that it won’t effect that person health negatively like women with straight hair that get box braids.
i think that it is time to just appreciate everyone and everyone’s culture and learn how to be respectful and open to other people appreciating it.
@@kylie3989 I do not take your comment as you coming for me, but I will urge you to do more research before regurgitating the lies you’ve been fed! So again I reiterate, name ONE thing that has been created/invented (NOT STOLEN OR MODIFIED which is modern terms for raping and pillaging) by White people that has been adopted by other cultures/races??? AGAIN, I’ll wait…….
@@kylie3989 Oh and BTW the reason why Black women had so many issues in this country regarding our hair wasn’t because all of us couldn’t grow it… it was because everything that was out on the market was for White women, and if you know anything about hair, you’d know that for a Black woman to use products meant for White women destroys our hair! Plus we were forced to fry and dye our hair with chemicals and extreme heat just to be able to compete for jobs to support our families.. plus to try to fit in with our European counterparts to avoid the taunting. From slavery we were taught to be ashamed of our skin color as well as our NATURAL hair! Thankfully, a lot of us are removing that shame and are accepting OUR NATURAL BEAUTY! You should know that. Black people's culture have been usurped. over 100 years..
Right now, white people are getting their panties in a bunch because of a little black actress playing The Little Mermaid, they feel offended. They don't want a black actor playing a beloved white character. We gave them our rock and roll music and other things that belong to us things that they like in find cool. Everytime a black woman would wear braids, Afro , any traditional hairstyle that is black it would be considered “ghetto” among a bunch of other unfair terms. I've seen black women whose hairlines go so far back because these styles aren't always for them either.
