@soctt2737 look BW will are the orginators and blueprint of braids that was past down from our ancestors. Braids and the different designs of them have meaning behind it. In slavery days, our ancestors used braids and the designs of braids as maps to escape slavery. It provided directions for them. You tell me what WW was a slave and put her hair in braids to escape to freedom????? Research it!! FACTS!! The only thing WW did was bougut a lot of slaves to gain status in her communities. WW, not WM bought tons of slaves. You'll weren't into braids. RESEARCH it!!! FACTS!!! You"ll called us nappy hair. I bet you dont know what a hot combo is or used for? Plus, WW wasn't into having big butts and lips. Now, you'll want what we have. BW were and still ridicule for these things. I'm going to continue to claim what we were given as BW. Appreciate BW for what we've done so far for society. We'll forever remain the blueprint of things we created. I don't care what no one says. Thanks for keeping us relevant. It’s the double standard that we have an issue with. It’s acceptable and fashionable when people who look like you wear it but we are treated like shit and it’s unacceptable to wear when at school, work or other places. Stop thinking of only yourself and being condescending and understand the struggle black men and women go through on a daily basis just being who we are as a black person.

But as we move forward to the future, do you think you could accept people wearing typically black hair styles because they think they look nice? To have something that had been ridiculed for years turn into something many people can appreciate? It sounds like a pretty good rags to riches story to me! the invention of wigs by Egyptian royalty and while this was around 2700 BCE, a white man in 1870’s also invented a front lace wig used to cover up baldness while still having a natural look of hair. although Egyptians (egyptians came in many shades of brown and white a lot like southern or coastal european countries or western asian countries like india) were the first to come up the idea of wigs a white man was the first to come up with lace front wigs. i would give both ethnicities credit for their inventions especially on how big of the impact it has on everyday modern life.
not only did women take this invention but so did african americans in the 1900’s.
i hope you know that i am not coming for anyone and that i understand why black women adopted this invention because of the troubles they faced because of their skin color or hair type.
but we have to understand that our world has been around for a very long time and that every culture and religion has been robbed of the owner ship of an idea or object. i think that anyone and everyone should be able to do what they want as long as they know the history of it and that it won’t effect that person health negatively like women with straight hair that get box braids.
i think that it is time to just appreciate everyone and everyone’s culture and learn how to be respectful and open to other people appreciating it.

@@kylie3989 I do not take your comment as you coming for me, but I will urge you to do more research before regurgitating the lies you’ve been fed! First and foremost ANCIENT EGYPTIANS were different shades of BLACK, Not White! The Egyptians that occupy modern day Egypt ARE NOT the original people! They’re of Arab & European decent. The ORIGINAL Arabs are BLACK, not this whited out version you see on TV, but dark black. Europeans have spent thousands of years RAPING and pillaging everywhere they went.. emphasis on RAPING! It is what they did in the Americas with the NATIVE BLACK people that were there, what they did to the Mexicans in Mexico, what they did to the Aboriginals in Australia, same thing in Brazil, Puerto Rico, Cuba, DR,.. you get the point ( they didn’t get everyone everywhere they went, although they surely tried)! Besides even if a “WHITE MAN” created the first lace front, wigs were invented by BLACK EGYPTIANS! He didn’t invent Jack.. what he did was modified someone else’s idea/invention per usual practice of Europeans. So again I reiterate, name ONE thing that has been created/invented (NOT STOLEN OR MODIFIED which is modern terms for raping and pillaging) by White people that has been adopted by other cultures/races??? Plus we were forced to fry and dye our hair with chemicals and extreme heat just to be able to compete for jobs to support our families.. plus to try to fit in with our European counterparts to avoid the taunting. Im not black but im native american and as someone whos culture gets disrespected on the daily with random, uneducated people wearing headdresses for "political reasons", just be respectful about what cultures youre taking inspiration from. As far as i know, braids are not sacred in any capacity and anyone can wear them, whether straight hair or not, and even if they are sacred, it just means you have to learn about the culture and become immersed in it and sort of "earn" the "right" the wear them by talking to actual black people and talking about what they think and having civil conversations instead of arguing like so many people do.

Let’s apply this logic to dark black woman. Not light skinned because I’m addressing something else aka colorism. If a black woman has been getting hate by white people black people asian people etc. and that’s all they seen their gonna assume that your gonna be out here hating.

As for your point that hate is all she ever received, it begs the question why. Is it because she lives in a small enclosed community, or is hate comments in real life or online the only thing she focuses on over the compliments? She obviously has access to the internet, so she could meet people who are opened minded outside of where she lives.
From listening to her and her words, she reminds me of people I met that feed off of negative energy from others. I’ll tell you why-
Everytime a black woman would wear braids, Afro , any traditional hairstyle that is black it would be considered “ghetto” among a bunch of other unfair terms. Everytime black women did something with our hair, Everytime we wore something it would be “ghetto” or “undesirable”. Me being a 22 y/o black woman myself I remember a lot of white girls picking on me for the braids in my hair, only for them to turn around and ask me to braid theirs. It’s just irritating and hits a different nerve when however you try to do your hair it’s looked down upon but on a different race of women (white women) it’s considered “nice” “pretty” “unique”. We never get our credit, it’s always given to someone else. So, we’re like for y’all to sit up here and poke fun at our hairstyles and then turn around and try to wear them? Yeah, we mad and got something to say cause it’s not for y’all.

As an African let me know explain .braids are a protective style which is targeted for type 4,3 and 2 if you know the history of box braids you should know that type 1 hair (search on the internet) always tends to rip out as type 1 scalp is softer than the types of hair textures .many other cultures and tribes use braids even asians and europeans you aren’t special like that most africans don’t care as when oyibo(white) people come to African countries like Seychelles angola South Africa and even Namibia ,many white women pay to get their braids done and they don’t appropriate they appreciate. So not only black and african wear box braids as long as its safe meaning your scalp is moisturized.and nobody is insecure we dont like it when random white women do braids whether box or fulani braids (search since you know) and give it dumb names like ok do braids styles and use the right name.also know the trauma many black people in America went through as women where told to put their hair away whilist white women had a large variety of hairstyles they ran to box braids and sew ins and even relaxer . So please nobody is insecure ,we don’t really care but since you know the history reove the video as you have contradicted your own statements and so called personality (from braids ) 😊.

First off, I think everyone is able to wear there hair However they want. I think it’s fine to have braids in your hair. But there’s a difference between like French braids or two little pigtail braids and box braids. Box braids are not good for people with thin hair. It can cause hair loss and other damaging effects. In my opinion as a BLACK FEMALE who has been getting her hair braided for my whole life, I have no issue with non-black people getting box braids. It’s just not good for certain types of hair🤷🏾‍♀️ but other than that, I think you did a good job on your hair n if u like it then keep it like that. My hair is just fine and has never fallen out. Braids don't just belong to black people or culture. Other cultures wore them long before or at the same time. I've seen black women whose hairlines go so far back because these styles aren't always for them either. They have hair fallout or can't grow hair at all, so they wear wigs and braid fake hair in with their real hair. I can braid the entire length of my hair and be fine.
