Your goal now is to understand the difference between stakeholder theory, and ESG. Good Luck, may the force be with you.

I struggle to see what's unique about this theory - it's a mixture of platitudes, undeniable trivial statements and falsehoods.

Great Video- The theory itself need to be implemented in businesses today, because I sure don't see it happening (as often as it should).

Stakeholders theory key component is communication, because you need to “create something that no one of them can create alone”

It’s important to understand you must talk the talk and walk the walk. Mutual exclusivity does not exist unless your working at a radio station. In isolation communication only can be a sign of stress and a lack of management target strategy progress. This ultimately will lead to business decline.

By mere virtue of the firm seeking profit, the suppliers customers, employees etc. have to be satisfied with their relationship with "the firm" that is capitalism.
Mr. Freeman's words are moot because all stakeholder's interest are already aligned. Even the debt holders (the opposite of shareholders) want the firm to maximize profits!

@addisnicola - Check out Professor Freeman's paper: "Company Stakeholder Responsibility: A New Approach to CSR" on our website (UA-cam won't allow me to post a url link here, but look on our main site under publications, bridge papers, and you will find it) Our main site is corporate - ethics . org (minus the spaces).

Looks like a win-win strategy, where alla the parts are involved and must be happily successful, community included, and sounds very appealing.
Nowdays, in 2023, do you think we're going in that direction? When the "elitè" are talking about "stakeholder" governance? I don't think so, because it's quite clear that not all the parts involved have the same weight in the decisional process.
Nonetheless the guys with power (either political or financial) look forward to have this kind of global governance come true.
Unless the "happy slaves" aka "You'll own nothing and be happy", come into the equation of this theory which is unlikely what Mr. Freeman (nomen omen) was talking about in this video. I'm sure of that.

This message is more important now than ever. Capitalism doesn’t need to be destroyed, it is in dire need of serious reform. Jack Welsh’s legacy needs to be shaken off and learned from.
