They forgot to mention some quarries have chemicals leeching into the water that make it less buoyant. This means no matter how hard someone swims, they can’t get out.

Thank you. This is THE ONLY reason I’ve heard that explains what’s so bad about it if you are a strong swimmer. Slippery surface, debris on bottom, cold water for cramps are nothing for a strong swimmer. Chemicals changing the consistency of the water could be a problem.
I swam in a quarry all through college and had a blast

@@GalaxyFluke Yes for sure. I was surprised no one mentioned it. People have drowned this way. Just depends what the quarry site used to be. Knowing that could help! They should block those types of quarries off to prevent accidents/death.

@@mir6598 I’m a fish in the water I honestly roll my eyes when people start talking about a “strong swimmer drowned from getting a cramp”. A strong swimmer wouldn’t drown from a cramp. I’ve had calf cramps, shoulder freeze, and the worst is foot arch cramp where my foot was stuck in certain way and couldn’t move my toes all while swimming. It is nothing to just breathe and relax through pain while swimming out of water if you are a strong swimmer. If you aren’t a strong swimmer you panic and could drown.

@GalaxyFluke I saw a documentary where they tested the thermal temperature of how fast it drops from.surface.ambiant to submersion. It was like 81 deg and within a few seconds it went ro -21 degF while submerged in one of those cold pockets found in a quarry. Your heart can't take that much of a drop in temperature thst rapidly. Cramps isn't how you die, it'd literally your heart suddenly stopping and your body stiffens bdcause of lack of blood flow ro your extremities.

OMG don’t go to a quarry you might step on a nail and receive a SERIOUS! foot injury. The fact you are more likely to die in a traffic accident on the way anywhere in your car is not relevant.
But hey let’s go to the beach and swim with sharks, or worse rip tides etc etc. Let’s go swim in the river with sections of fast flowing water etc.

I learned to scuba dive in a quarry. The water can be extremely cold (we wore wetsuits) and you don't see the thermoclines like you do in salt water. The quarry here is legal to dive in, and owned and operated by a family.

Man alot of people have drowned in quarries its not just about steppin on a nail if you've never swam in 40 degree water should give it a try its quite hard on lakes that feed into rivers if you swim 40 50 feet down its ice cold at the bottom getting through the stiffness and cramping is the easy part getting back up 40+ feet like that id the hard part in lakes you havr time to adjust your body to the cold in a quarry you do not have that opportunity you light aswell be swimming in mid december in Arkansas which ive done and it about costed me my life in a lake and im a excellent swimmer i swim long distance on lake lanier theres islands i can go from the beach to the islands in the middle most wouldn't attempt it with all the boats and the 2 mile swim but thats my enjoyment in lakes i dive as deep as i can without a emergency air supply and swim long distances you can find some giant fish at the bottom man

They need to make laws 30 days in jail Mando. An I know people are gonna wine about there rights until your child is being pulled up from the dive team dead very white an 60 pounds heavier blowded. Wanna drink a gallon of vodka an eat a bottle of pills go ahead. But quarries are no joke. One week you jump it's fine next week you hit a sunken stolen car your done. Not to mention 80% jump in an quarry water could be 50° at the surface but 15-20 feet down 30. So it's 90 out they jump in an have you ever had cold water come over your body? You go "Oooooooo" an you gasp automatically ? It's INVOLENTARLY like a doctor hitting your knee an it moves. They jump in go down feel the cold an take a full breath in an sink.

Then maybe we should make laws on how much muscle mass you’re allowed to have. You seem like you have too much and it’s very unhealthy to have such excess muscle mass. I bet you have no body control and can’t do basic calisthenic exercises, have little cardiovascular endurance, or even do basic flexibility exercises. Yes I’m being harsh on you to prove a point. It’s your body and I really don’t care what you do unless you hurt someone else so why should you care? Sugar is more addicting than cocaine so why don’t we ban that? Driving cars is more dangerous than going to a query so let me take your license away. I could keep going. My point is if you do something dumb that’s on you. Giving jail time is only going to ruin people’s lives. I hate people like you who want to regulate things they don’t like. But if I start regulating your life then you’re going to whine about it. You disgust me

If you never risked your life while young your a puss or 400lbs as we speak an haven't lived. An going for a body is there JOB. I cut people open for a job an anybody can.
