I don't recall ever watching anyone else on U-tube who's comments were more thorough.
Amazing work. It blows my mind that you are always working alone, yet you never struggle with anything. Everything, in every video, just falls in to place. This is the definition of “trust the process”.
Always better to work alone. Yet lots of people like to work with one or two other guys. You have to pay those one or two other guys. And it takes some time and mental energy to manage those guys. Stay small, keep it all.
There are a handfull guys I can work with where 1+1=3. Most of the time 1+1=0.5.
@@xavytex So very true.
He probably works better alone. That brain working like a machine, planning all the steps, executing in the right order, looks so effortless. This guy is relentlessly pursuing to be better. Priceless info gathered through the years. He shares it with us.
We have to come up with a system where we can add many thumbs up. Spencer is a master!
you look to be in perfect form right now, energetic and ready to show us how to do it. enthusiastic more than ever. Love it
As always, simply amazing work. Well done. And your presentation of how to get there is clear and humble. Glad the trades have you and guys like you elevating the craft. 👏
I want everyone to understand one thing. He is a master craftsman. It takes years of messing up and actually doing the jobs to get to his level. I have works years in the trade and he is good, his contractor is lucky to have him
Thanks Joel. I remember the first time I did this style of coffered ceiling. LOL... It was not smooth, and there was a lot of sweat and struggle. LOL
Props man, your work is beautiful. Really appreciate you taking the time to film as you create. I know it slows you down a ton for camera setup and commentary. We appreciate the teaching and great examples. Keep up the good work!
As always, a great informative video. For the people who don't follow all the steps, I would have mentioned that you went around and nailed in the crown. You kind of left the impression that a presure fit was your last operation.
That stitching method might be the most awesome thing I've seen in a long time. I will absolutely be using that method from now on.
Well done young man. Well done. You are an outstanding example of a true journeyman craftsman. Thank you so very much for continuing to show countless people the thought process of what it takes to do quality work.
Always glue your miters. Always! - Gary Katz
Great video thank you for taking the time to make it & share it Spencer! I have been with you since the beginning !
Teaching video for pro’s from a Pro!
I look at your work station you hv set up and most often follow it!!
But? Always a but!!
I am trimming out a 2nd floor to a huge custom home (about 5 Thou sq ft main and 1500 more for separate nanny quarters over a huge garage!)
Anyway the stairs (someone else did ) R 32” wide and I can not get my saws up!
So all my set up is down a flight & onto a wrap around Ranch porch !!!
I tell everyone I am working out when they see me drenched in sweat?
Sometimes you just can not get the right set up????
Thk u again buddy and just bought another Table Saw like the one you hv (DeWalt ). Man what a nice saw!

Great job Spence. You have a great system with first class joint fittings. Working alone makes you adapt quickly as the job does not get done unless you do it. And you did. As Nike says, “Just do it!” They must have been watching your videos.

Appreciate that you are back, you are a true master of your craft sir.
Impressive!!
True master, not only great hands but able to teach it all as well.
Love your work, thanks for sharing
Another exceptional video!
Should be part of trade school curriculum
It's exciting to watch a true craftsman. I rarely see high quality work done on youtube but you are an exception
that was just damn nice work. i really like that 1/2 or 1 degree offset for friction fit. that is an extremely good way of putting this all together and the ability to do it by yourself is a game changer. great job!
Litterally only commenting to feed the algorithm. You deserve the attention. Great job.
I overcome the measuring problem you talk about by cutting a 10 inch block in order to mark 10 inches from one end. Then I measure to that mark from the other end to get a very accurate reading ( adding back my 10 inches to my measurement). This helps avoid the problems with trying to read a tape on an inside corner....
Another great instructional video, thank you for sharing your knowledge. BTW, I also use your +/- method to measure.
Nice Job Norm….great video. ;)
Such a pro
Nice job , bud
Ohhh baby that friction fit
Who can argue with success. Works great. Very, very nice work.
Spencer, Ypu evidently have some scammers on your channel or at leadt contacting viewers like me. You may want to warn viewers not to tect the number unless it IS you. Thanks , Ron
Nice tip with the 1 degree angle.
thank you god for the lesson in avoiding mental gymnastics
the scientist !!
Simply amazing. Fuking awesome
Another amazing video. Love the way you explain and demonstrate your methods. You are a highly skilled carpenter my friend and such a pleasure to watch and listen to. I know I'm going to learn something amazing every time you release a video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge sir
You are very welcome
Great video buddy.
Talented man for sure.
When you were measuring the crown and tilting the tape....what I usually do is measure out 100mm / 4inches. Mark that spot. Then measure back to that point and add the 100mm. Give you a very accurate measurement.
I haven’t read all the comments so I might be repeating someone else. When I do an inside measure, I measure to a ten. Meaning 10”, 20” 30”. Then I measure from the other side and add 10, 20 or 30…
This 3 part series is pure genius!
I’ve done as you have also with measuring inside corners. But, after seeing how Spencer tilted the tape I think I’ll try that.
Surprised he doesn't use his laser tape.
It’s really inspiring to see the quality of your work and hear the detailed explanations. I’m curious how you would adjust the method if the client wanted a simpler look without crown.
Putting in a large one soon.Your method is the trick. This job is going to have a solid beam around the perimeter. Like the style of yours better. I’m going to rip 3/8 0ff a 1x8 use it as a scribe around perimeter. I will use the 1x8 rip it for soffit. Hopefully I wont have to bring soffit to far away from wall to try and square up the room. I will use your beam method for the perimeter beams. Hoping for the best. Thanks for your insight !!!
This is similar to the method Gary Katz used years ago. I like this also!
Looks great. We don’t get much call for this type of ceiling’s in the uk. I wish we did as I think they look great.
Genius man, you should come to massachusetts to teach me some skills haha glad of you
Thank you for sharing your life’s woork
