Great review. Nick's obsessive attention to detail in building these is pretty insane. He's been bringing prototypes of this to local community meets for a while and it's been really cool to see how they've progressed from design and sound. Fantastic package that you get for the money.
They legit for me are such an easy recommendation… been using these and the Bokeh’s exclusive for the past couple weeks! Some amazing headphones starting to show up in this price range!
You love the HD700!!! I can’t wait to hear these. Heard so many good things about this headphone and Nick is a super nice dude! Really hope he finds success with this set.
From memory and show conditions… so take with grain of salt… but, the Bokeh open was more mid-focused…where the Dahlia is more balanced… that being said… it would be a fun head2head comparison 🤔
Got my Dahlia's today and I'm really impressed. Also you weren't kidding about their gaming prowess...the sense of immersion with the soundstage is kinda wild.
It’s been a hot minute since I listened to any Hifiman headphones… but, I think the Dahlia has very good stage… width and height as well as depth is great… I think Nick developing these while playing games helped a lot with that aspect of his headphones tuning.
I am wondering how immersive they are for gaming. Cyberpunk 2077 has a pretty good sound engineering, do you notice any oddities in the frequency response like some of the frequency sound shouty and makes it feel unnatural? I tried gaming with Atrium Closed while it is amazing at recreating the space in the game and has amazing low end, the high freqs is a little bit shouty for gaming which takes me out of the immersion. I am being super picky but I have been on the hunt for a perfect gaming headphone and I still couldn't find one that is super immersive, my last great immersive experience was the Fidelio X2 and I am looking for an upgrade from that and hopefully this one is the one. Tried audiotechnica ATH-R70X and it was not doing it for me too. A little to clean and clinical, doesn't sound as immersive or real. If these are super immersive headphone I bet they would be amazing and realistic for a good binaural nature recordings too.
I personally loved these for gaming! And spent many hours playing cyberpunk 2077 with them, as well as Destiny, halo and call of duty… I didn’t have any major issues and found them to be my preferred gaming headphones while they were here.
I’m not positive but I believe it’s the peerless tymphany driver … Nick does a build series on UA-cam you can find here: hififorall.com/products/hfa-dahlia-headphone
Fair enough, I’m not a business person nor do I have experience in sourcing and making things… so I couldn’t tell you the BOM price nor the cost adjustment for these to be brought to market at a price point that makes sense for Nick to maintain it as a business? Look at the DMS headphones for instance… over $1k and in my opinion not built as well as these… he has documented his journey regarding them … not cheap or easy. This isn’t meant as shade throwing at DMS … he is a good dude and his headphones are unique and interesting experiment in bringing a headphone to market… a brave and not easy thing to do. Personally I’d rather support a slightly more expensive passionate creator over a large manufacturer any day… but budgets are unique to each individual…
@@TylersEclectic I'm sure the time put into it and design would justify the price, but I think the naming convention is where I really have an issue with it. $800 for audio equipment is not "for all". For that price someone can probably find second hand deals on Focals or Senns as a "safe" bet. i do love the design on these though
@@TylersEclectic How do you think these compare to the DMS Omega’s? There in the same price range, 3d printed, and have pretty close frequency response curves. Im really interested in knowing which one is better. (I know these are way better built but how do they compare sound wise)

💯
It was great to see the R&D of these, amazing what Nick accomplished
Concur! Really impressed with them… legit been using them daily for games and music!
Got my shipping notification on these yesterday! Cant wait to hear em :) Thank you Tyler for the review!

@@TylersEclectic That's going to be my combo too! Bokeh for my closed back, HFA for open back.
@ fantastic combo!
how do you like the sound?
@@hedrickoYO love the sound of the Dahlia… really miss having them in house
Great review man! Those look pretty sweet!
🫶🙌 That sweet Deadpool bust brings the desk together 👀😎

Still mad as hell at myself for sitting on my set and braking the yoke :(
I think a fun dogfight would be a comparative review between the ZMF Bokeh (open) v.s The Dahlia. 😊
From memory and show conditions… so take with grain of salt… but, the Bokeh open was more mid-focused…where the Dahlia is more balanced… that being said… it would be a fun head2head comparison 🤔
I think it would be a good comparison review. I also think you’d do a great job of something like that as well. Thanks again for the video. ☺️

🙌👾 Yessss!! I love how versatile they are, going from gaming to audio, then watching videos… great set of headphones
Peepin the review over coffee Braddah 🤙🏽.

I can’t wait to try the Dahlia with the Apos Gremlin.
It’s pretty dang good! That gremlin is crazy good for the price
@ I heard it at the Apos booth with the Apos x Audio-Technica Refine headphones. Both ordered!
Hi, thanks for the impressions. Is it a good paring with the Pietus Maximus? Does it have smooth midrange tuning, natural timbre similar to the HD600?
I think so, I used the Dahlia mostly with my Pietus Maximus and enjoyed that pairing immensely :)
Very interesting headphones , how does the soundstage / holography compare to hifiman Arya or Ananda ?

Great video. How's the bass impact/dynamics on these specifically? Is there anything better around the same price for those characteristics?
Really good dynamics and above average bass… but for more bass and dynamics I’d go with a Fostex 900mkii or denon 7200…
@@TylersEclectic Thanks! I already own the TH900MK2 haha I'm always on the lookout though... always chasing the dragon
@ the audio dragon 🐉 is a cheeky bastard! Always getting in our ears whispering sweet nothings lol 😆
What drivers are in there?

not really "for all" if the base price is 800+ for a 3d printed design

@ I haven’t had really any significant ear time with DMS headphones… but I wasn’t really impressed by them 😅 I was by the Dahlia right away
