Just a Desert Seltas Queen...

- Those of you that watch Unnatural History Channel will recognize this as the B-roll for the D. Seltas Queen vs Shrouded Nerscylla proposal. Link to that video here:
• Neopteron ecology : Se...
This is because this animation was actually commissioned by the lad himself for that video specifically. So it was a win-win for both of us. Other than that, not much else to say really...
Copy-pasta for deh UA-cam gods:
Dis Monster Hunter animation is brought to you by "SFM", a software in beta since 2012
Reminder: Due to their lifestyle and usually niche ecological roles, spiders either body their prey, or get bodied AS the prey.
There's rarely an in between.
Tarantula Hawks exist.... they are the only thing actively murder Tarantulas as far we can tell
And Tarantulas arent even that dangerous other than their barbed hair that can kill you if inhaled or even injure your eyes
I'm guessing this seltas queen gonna get bodied by a diablos😂.
@@betterthanyou8618 if she doesn't find a male to yeet at the horned tyrant then yes
This and spiders often get bodied by litteraly just the same spider but a slightly bigger specimen
Or they become the parents of frogs I guess
Desert Seltas Queen is such a cool subspecies monster, I don't know about you guys but I want this one to make a return to the future MH games someday.
4U had the best Subspecies.
Expect Tidal.
@@magnabueno5360are you talking about only news subs or also returning one ?
@@magnabueno5360tidal is pretty creative, not very fun to fight but its a cool concept, with better execution in a new game it could be pretty fun.
@@magnabueno53603U had some pretty good new subspecies aswell, Stygian Zinogre, desert Barioth and Glacial Agnaktor are all pretty cool, Rust Duramboros isnt that creative nor does it make much sekse but i apreciate it for its shire size.
Iceborns selection wasnt halve bad eather Acidic Glav, Coral Pukey and Ebony Odogaron where all very fun.
But i gotta agree that 4U probably had the best new subspecies Tigerstripe Zamtrios is a masterpiece of an mh fight.
@@paleoraptor1181Well its new subs are fantastic and while most of its returning subs are of gen 1/2 monsters which aren’t toooooo great, it also has Stygian Zinogre so it balances out.
Fun fact: Desert seltas queen is considered a Monster whose threat level is comparable to azure rathalos
Ykno, I can see that
Old shrouded nerscylla learnt that the hard way
Seriously?! Huh never knew😮
Easy to see why, that arthropod could be a challenge to wyverns of that size
Ah yes, lunch
As a human, I cannot confirm that this is not one of the ways we eat during lunch
@@ShafiqUA-cam81I think they meant the seltas
0:15 your chicken sound does not escape me, sir.
Excellent animation as well.
Imagine Desert Seltas Queen going up against Pyre Rakna Kadaki, that would be an amazing turf war.
Seltas: That's a... _much_ bigger spider.
@@CaptainCFalconalso seltas: but can she survive a tank.
@@tarlaihope It would probably be a pretty even match if the Seltas Queen doesn't have a male to help her, or catch the Rakna unawares. Rakna not only has long distance fire breath, but her battle-ready children/drones (yes, some Raknoids are actually the fully-grown males) that she can issue complex commands to - and she can produce more in minutes. Plus, she has a layer of protective threads that provide a measure of defense against blunt force.
But if the Queen DOES have the help of a male Desert Seltas, I'd say the tank bug wins handily. Apart, the male could disrupt or prevent Rakna's more complex attacks by taking out the babies while Queenie takes on Rakna herself, and when combined the two Seltas could barrel into Rakna and overwhelm it - or the male could just fly above Rakna and drop his beloved on the hapless mega-spider..
Seeing big open environments like this make me imagine what would Monster Hunter be like if it was truly open world, continuous map from one biome to others.
Don't think that works with what the game has in place, it would have to be spinoff, because the current set up is pretty essential to how the game works, it works better on something like stories for example.
I'd love to do a MH like with bigger maps at some point. Not truly open world, but a bit closer to stalker in terms of area size
Something like WoW I think, in terms of maps. But this can be hard to make, like how many monsters will be there, how many people can fight them at the same time. Can monsters still turf while players fighting those monsters are nearby? Could be an interesting experience, but it must be thought through.
I don't think MH need to go open world. Sure, it would look and feel nice to have environments that are more realistically connected and on a grander scale, but I think it will only work against the MH formula where the combat is the focus. It's already enough of a pain to chase monsters down every time they flee and you also have to waste more time going around gather items on a larger map.
I was happy to explore the larger maps in World/Rise at first but the experience wore off rather quickly (heck, I didn't even bother to 100% the Relic Records in Sunbreak). In the end, I just tried my best to get around the map as quickly as I could just to get to the fight.
@@bri1085 Doesn't have to be spin-off, just imagine World but you can travel from Ancient Forest straight to Wildspire Wasteland to Coral Highland etc. In the game they're supposed to be next to each other anyway, not a stretch to imagine they are actually connected.
*David Attenborough Voice * The Seltaras genus of Tank Insects are among the largest insects in the world, with Seltaras panzerus and Seltaras shermanii being the absolute largest. S. shermanii, colloquially known as a Greater Desert Seltas, or simply the Desert Seltas, comes in two morphs like all other Tank Insects. The female morph and the male morph are wildly different, with females being as much as ten times the size of males, flightless, and having long tails tipped with grasping structures called forceps.
Desert Seltas are in a category of animals called double apexes, meaning they regularly and deliberately eat other apex predators. This carnivore-eating behavior likely stems from an instinct to eliminate other predators from their environment to eliminate competition, as the deserts, savannas and scrublands they prefer can have little large prey during leaner times. By eating other carnivores, not only do Desert Seltas eliminate competition, they also feed themselves, and after millions of years of this lifestyle it has become an instinctual preference.
Actually the correct term would be intraguild predation, which is basically one predator hunting and eating another predator, and can range from mesopredadors to vassal predators all the way up to other top order carnivores/omnivores
"20 times" yeah no.
Trudging across the desert sand, the Desert Seltas Queen makes for an intimidating figure. With a thick carapace capable of repelling a wide variety of attacks, and a powerful tail with a pair of grasping pincers able to pluck smaller monsters out of the ground, few creatures would dare to challenge it.
Desert Queens are a nomadic species, wandering vast swathes of the deserts they call home in search of food and mates, and their tough armor provides ample protection from the intense sun, allowing them to travel during the heat of the day when most creatures would be hiding to avoid its scorching rays. This particular specimen is searching for a good meal.
A Desert Queens' main method of finding prey is by listening to vibrations in the sand from the movement beneath. Special organs just behind their claws pick up even the smallest shift, and with all four legs, a Queen can quickly pinpoint its source.
Once the prey has been found, she will lean forward and carefully aim her deadly pincers and grab the struggling creature from its hiding place. That done, she proceeds to repeatedly smash her quarry upon the ground behind her, killing the unfortunate Shrouded Nerscylla before it can attempt to escape.
Once the Nerscylla is dead, the Seltas can begin her meal, safe in the knowledge that few would attempt to take it and risk becoming a meal themselves. Once she is finished, she will begin hunting again, for mating season is rapidly approaching, and she'll need every once of energy she can get to produce her eggs, build a nest, and protect it against other predators.
Perfectly worded like a documentary. Here's a 👍.
10 out of 10, would watch a MH Documentary
>Monster Hunter with David Attenborough
I tought that was a seltas at first rather than a nercylla....
Yeah I made that mistake as well.

God I hope Seltas Queen is in the next game, especially Desert Queen. The sandy maps are always my favourite, so hope it has her in it
I'm glad the seltas B-roll is finally getting a separate release
Now with added sound effects!
Excellent animation as always, I Remember seeing this in unnatural history channels video on Seltes, both of you are bringing to life a side of monster hunter that doesn't get enough attention, this is now cannon in my mind if this doesn't happen next time they are both in game I will be upset
STOP, NOT THE TZITZI PAIN NOISES WHEN SHROUDED GOT SLAMMED. 😭😭😭
(probably a reference to the fact that Nerscylla makes these noises when injured in Stories 2)
I see that’s not a normal Nerscylla, but the Shrouded Nerscylla. This makes sense because S. Nerscylla are actually desert dwellers. Good detail!
Also, it’s good to see Shrouded Nerscylla, (even though it got bodied) as it’s colors look nice.
A monster I wish would cone back and even come in if a monster hunter stories 3 gets made 🤣 lol
Its only 22 seconds long AND STILL BETTER THAN THE MOVIE
what movie?
I can just imagine seltlas in a far distance with binoculars: AW THAT'S HOT, THAT'S HOT🥵🤣
As someone who was introduced to MH via World, I had no idea that Seltas Queen looked like this.. I’ve heard of Monsters like Seltas and Seltas Queen but never seen them…
With her specifically, until now lol
This is specifically the desert subspecies.
The forest/normal species is green.
But the major differences appear in the males
wondering if this came out after a certain youtuber did a deep dive on the Seltas queen :D
Am I the only one who heard a chicken after the first slam?
kinda disappoint you didn't add her godly tank like scream
Daaaamn dude this came out really good. You got two really complicated looking models with a lotta moving bits moving pretty fluidly, the impact of those bits felt properly weighty and visceral. Good stuff!
0:14 Was that a chicken noise ?
You heard that too huh?😂
No. That was a “Nerscylla pain” noise.
It’s also the “Tzitzi ya-ku pain” noise.
0:15😊
did I hear a chicken/Tzi-tzi Ya Ku in there? 😂
No. That was a “Nerscylla pain” noise.
Do you really think Capcom would reuse a sound like that for both a spider and a chicken? I mean c’mon, who would do that…?
I guess someone at Capcom got bored at some point.
My first Monster Hunter game was Stories 2 (I had seen my brother play a bit of world before then and knew a bit about the world but not a lot about individual monsters) and man when I stumbled upon a Steltas Queen and I immediately fell in love with how cool she was and wanted one on my team so badly.
Unfortunately they can’t become Monsties which is a bummer. Considering most everything else comes from the same looking egg in communal nest like Nergigante and Khezu and literal dogs (Palmutes) I don’t think having a full grown Seltas Queen pop out of a giant chicken egg would have been pushing it too much.
Damn don't mess with the queen 🐝

Setlas Queen: (Kills Nerscylla)
Baby Tetsucabra: Now it's personal
Fortunately it was a Shrouded Nerscylla, Charlotte is still fine with his amphibian son on the Sunken Hollow
Im not the only one that heard a chicken sound effect on that first slam right?
I was just about to say that
Apparently it's legit how they sound. There's also a bird wyvern that sounds like that too but I don't remember which.

Gods, I love the way you animated the terrifying yet regal Queen. Its perfect.
This is the least popular monster? They're so cool!
I was not expecting it to rip out a, I think its called, shrouded nerscylla. I thought it was gonna be a desert seltas.(I can't remember what it's called but I know it uses khezu skin instead of gypceros can someone remind me?)
Selta and Selta Queen are both my favorite Monsters in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. The way they fight as a team and the Armor you can make in both normal and G rank style. It's a tank of a monster.
Seltas Queen has gotta be my favourite Neopteron and the Gurren Lagann armor is just the best!!
What a shame that that she's not in Rise/Sunbreak... Welp, I can only hope for the new MH game, which I also hope Najarala also come back.
Lets just hope they figure out how to get the monsters that have a large portion of their mass touching the ground working. Otherwise we unfortunately won't be able to fight monsters like Najarala, Agnaktor, or Lagiacrus.
Wish they had gone one more Gen with the level design of 4th Gen so they’d have more time to figure out how to make the skeletons touch right
Shrouded Nercylla "Chilling"
Desert Seltas Queen "your free trial of living has expired"
But fr love how more brutal Desert Seltas Queen is compared to her regular version the original may be aggressive but The Desert Seltas Queen takes that to 11.
I SWEAR at 0:14 I hear a chicken sound!
No. That was a “Nerscylla pain” noise.
It’s also the “Tzitzi ya-ku pain” noise.
@@TeaCommonShark I actually didn't know that, and I've fought Nerscylla quite a few times!

I miss the bug monsters so much from 4u.

I *loved* fighting the Seltas monsters in 4U, they're an awsome fight, and really are the only 2v1 I'll accept (mainly becuase its impossible to fight the queen without the -simp- dude), the fight is just really good, especially how story wise we just fight a male seltas as a "boss" rank-up quest monster. Such a cool pair of monsters
This is the coolest one yet
Ooohh, what a beautiful creature.
Was worried she'd yank a husband out and toss it at the camera
Considering how insects tend to reproduce under a matriarchal society IRL, like how ants do it, wouldn't it be also accurate to assume said husband could've also been one of her children?
Poor Nerscylla 😢

Does anyone gonna acknowledge the fact the Shrouded Nerscylla made turkey/chicken noises while being flipped?
Nature is scary
I miss the seltas monsters, both the male drones and queen had unique mechanics when together especially the desert species. The queen uses the poor drones as cannon ammo, firing them at hunters with such force they break apart when they hit anything.
Please Capcom, more neopterans
I'd like to see Neopterans added with powerful attacks like Mushiking: The King of Beetles🔎👑
Give us a dung beetle that Congalala can fight
(Please don’t that would be so disgusting with next gen graphics)
And temnocerans, and carapaceons, and snake wyverns, and amphibians.
Ah, the classic chicken noise from nerscylla a la stories 2
It reminds me of Starship Troopers. The villains where alien bugs called arachnids. Probably not spelled like that. I watched it for the giant bugs and ignored the plot.
narrator: Desert seltas hunts some big spider by slamming the hell out of them like a big baby playing with it's food and consuming them
All fun and games till she accidentally pulls up a Diablos. Although selfie I’m sure could detect chemical differences between food and a potentially life threatening fight

I would have used a small hermitaur since a Shrouded Nerscylla seems too big imo.

This is a cool animation. That makes me want the seltas back, but I noticed something, doesn't desert seltas queen have 3 pincers claws and not two? Or am I misremembering it?
She only has 2, much like base SQ. With the difference being Desert’s pincers are longer.
the only part i find funny is that i literally encountered a seltas and queen for the first time in wings of ruin
I wanna se a turf war between desert seltas queen and astalos where they poke and slap each other with there standby tails
