I don’t think it’s that she doesn’t want to talk, remember that when you are a sangoma, your experience of the world is completely different and you see and hear a lot more things especially when you are around a lot of people, it can be very distracting. Also, she must be careful with her words as there are a lot of things that she may not be able to share. I hope this helps 🌞

Being on television is a big step, what if she has stage fright... or what if she is an anxious person etc. I think as a collective, we need to be kinda towards one another and less judgemental.

Rebogile is excellent 😍 love and respect to her. David Mashabela is also. I watched his interview with Rebecca Malope. I loved the fact that he did his homework 100% before the interview. Relebogile's interview skills are unmatched. The way she keep probing without being pushy & offensive is amazing! I'm 08:00 minutes into this interview & thinking to myself "haybo ntombi elaborate you can't be giving one line answers 🥺". Great job Relebogile❤
Firstly, if my comment comes off as judgmental, you are projecting. This did not seem genuine at all. The whole process she took and the many steps she skipped makes me think she was taken for a ride or ..idk, but something about this does not seem genuine. You find sangomas who consult and use different methods of healing. So it isn't about that. It's the whole story that seems very off-ish to me. What I find concerning are the choices either made by her gobela or herself instead of idlozi lakhe that has to. That's a red flag for me. Idlozi lakho dictates your name and how you are ought to maneuver this world with it living inside you, not the other way around. The name of the dlozi as well...like?? Either way, great interview 🖤
I get where you are coming from but i have learned that things aren’t monotonous in this world. She might have had a different experience than others, especially since she said that this was new experience to her.
You had the guts to say it, Mina I couldn't. I think they scammed her, from allowing her to choose not to do some rituals because she's different, to leaving her to do what she wants before she even graduated, I don't even want to mention the best friend Tsepi.
If black people can accept none melanin dominant people as inyanga then there’s a huge problem with our people… yena which of her ancestors called her? What is her totem? Where is her umbilical cord? Which moya is she using vele?
So true I found her to be a closed book, she didn't want to explain further than the question asked... It was almost as if she didn't want to ask most of the questions...I'm surprised the interview took that long
I loved it, at 1st I thought she was uptight, but as I continued I realized she's being careful, people can blow everything she said out of proportion and start saying nasty things
Slaughtering isn't in her culture but boSangoma is? Haha okay... No one finds it awkward that she was allowed to consult before graduating? Is that even allowed?
Iets is nie reg nie... This is my analysis. I'm sorry in advance to the people that I offend. These people opened portals and exposed themselves to these altars and then it is said to be a "calling".
I never really enjoy making negative comments but I think she has arrogance towards the African ritual. I think she maybe spiritual but it is not being a Sangoma. When you surrender to something , you learn the language, and go 110%. I am annoyed that she wants to be an authority when she won't even learn the language and trivialized the ritual.
But njena guides speak to you through pictures majority of the time and they help you in a manner that you will be able to connect the dots. Once you reach the intended message, you have so much peace thereafter and literally stop questioning. So it's very much possible hey.
Guys wait...🧐 she refused ukudla intwaso but she finished ukuthwasa? Her “dlozi” is not in her lineage? Her sister was attacked by demons (ancestors) coz she didn’t want to thwasa? Tshepo/Tsepi ke mang? Ngaze ngaLost 😔

African spirituality is fundamentally based on inclusive & far more progressive than we would like to acknowledge. Most of the key components of African spirituality got lost when colonialism was imposed on our ancestors. We shouldn't be surprised seeing a white sangoma,in 2009, read an article about a black American man who was guided through visions from the USA to the Mpumalanga province in SA to be trained as a sangoma. That's how fascinating spirituality is.
Also who's ancestors gift is she carrying because as a white she has white ancestors so how is she getting black names n following black traditions ...n also she is generally weird, as if she doesn't want to speak.... Sangomas speak from knowledge of spiritual and physical world she speaks more about physically
🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 Hai mare I feel like our tradition is been insulted like how would your ancestors give u a sesotho name, y can't they name her maybe after her ancestors who had a similar calling or why not an Afrikaans name and hape we don't call our ancestors di bestfriend tsa rona we respect them so much you can even hear in our tone whn we mention them.... and the teacher mustbe sued by the house of traditional healers...
@@oh.eulanda i see you everywhere. Honestly i think you are trying to make her story fit into what you consider as the only way things should go. You are like a police officer who convinced themselves that someone is guilty and you are trying very much to fit the evidence into your theory irregardless of whether the evidence say otherwise. Her case might be different. Things in this world aren’t monotonous. We have special cases everyday. Not saying her story is true or not. Just that it could be true and different.

Tell you what, I don't think that the guest was trying to be hard or anything. She's just closed off, it's her personality. Because I saw that on some questions, she was able to elaborate more. I think it's her body language and tone that puts the viewer off, but I genuinely think that she was being herself. In the same breath, Relebogile realised what kind of guest she was and she caught on quick. She kept the questions coming in just so that the guest can keep talking to avoid awkward silence. I am trying to be open minded but i am not fully convinced. She must have a black ancestry lineage who had a gift for her go through spiritual initiation as a healer. Or maybe these initiations or spiritualities are not limited to race. Apparently in the states different race go through initiation in order to practice voodoo, which is very interesting.
And blacks have "ndau" spirits which are foreign spirits and people with those spirits often dream of white people Same thing as a prophetic gift... it hurts when whites think and react to their belief blacks are not capable of having a propheting gift... which we call izithunywa... and yet hear she is being jugdes based on colour... spiritually does not depend on colour... ..we are jugded because they don't think God can gift black people with a prophetic gift and this is axactly what you are doing to her And not all of us will understand this... somethings need certain growth in wisdom of spirituality
And what exactly makes her seems off? Take off only the sangoma part from her and replace it with christinity, leave everything on her and most of you will be praising her like jesus is coming back.
@@sigmalonewolf8808 I do not have a problem with her being a sangoma or either against anything related to sangomas,in fact I do believe in ancestors .... but something about her is just weird, well that's my opinion, I don't know how did you get to the conclusion of relating it to "sangoma and Christianity" comparism 🤷
@@clementinegrey1927 understandable. But she seems like a straight foward person who happens to have different personlatity as compared to what most of appreciate as being normal. She wanted confirmation from white sangomas. Maybe she should have tried mediums or white spiritual people because of her skepticism with Afrikan gobelas/ ngakas.
For the sake of the show I will like and pass this episode is really draining this lady is not unpacking anything Lebo has to dig very deep n she’s still not opening up😩🤦🏽♀️
Relebogile you asked such nice questions I say you could be an excellent lawyer my sister. I admire your guest as regards the refusals of the slaughter and drinking of the goats blood, and the teacher who accepts her wish . I am Indian and there is a ritual in my culture which requires the slaughter of chickens when my children are born and I refused that too when I had my 2 kids
Let's forget that she was guarded and closed off . Oh my word are people so ignorant and judgmental... We all have ancestors and different cultures despite of the ethnicity you are . Ancestors will communicate or give you a gift weather u are white , red , black or green it doesn't matter , hence will have different rituals to perform because of different cultures. There's nothing unusual about this lady at all .
So they got her mother a black sangoma for protection and it worked, then she went to see a black sangoma in the township who told her that she had a calling but she wanted to hear it from a white sangoma, only then could she believe it? Honestly, that's where she definitely started to lose me. Yazin, let me just leave it here because I really don't know much about uk'thwasa.
This episode left me confused and having more questions. How does she have tshepo talking to her isn't it that your " guadern angel" should be your forefathers? Secondly she said she will teach her kids how to heal doesn't each an every person get to be initiated by a gobela than just being taught at home? I can't say I'm a Dr and my kids dont need medical school I'll pass on the skills here at home.
Okay let me try n make you understand...b4 colonism each home had it's own healer from the family...the Ntsalintshalis wouldn't come to Mbonani family n asked to be healed bcz by spiritual law, Mbonani's shouldn't know the Ntsalintshali issues/ways of doing things to avoid witchcraft...yes in nowadays we go consult/ thwasa under other surnames bcz we lost many things during colonism n apartheid era. That is why we have people who get scammed bcz the other person bcz jalous n do wrongs things to that person but as time goes going to thwasa outside your family will come to an end since we will be knowing abt our roots n which herbs to use for a specific kind of ukuthwasa which will make it possible for the parent/ sibling/ cousin to help the young one. ...that's is why when one goes to thwasa they find out that their Gobela has a similar gift(s)...Gobela will know n be told what to do but there will be things that are not shown to your Gobela, that they will be shown to thwasa only e.g a certain herb(s) to add on iGobongo that your Gobela gives to you, bcz ancestors are different n every herb used serves a certain purpose to that Gobongo. That is why it is important for Gobela to listen to their thwasa(Gobela helps in the process but it is your Dlozi that initiates you)...according to spiritual law every family should have a spiritually gifted person n that person will give birth to a spiritually gifted child n so on but we still have people that refuse to accept their gifts that is why we still go to other surnames to ask for help. The forefather issue, I'll try to make it short...Ancestors choose a person with a pure heart...it may look within the family n see that no one is fit to handle that particular gift n choose an outsider...there is another white woman who is a sangoma that got her gift from the person who donated his/her body part to that sangoma lady. So SPIRITUALITY IS LIKE LIFE, IT HAS GOT NO FORMULA

@@nelisaponi3021 Tnx, what is happening does not scare me, people criticize change until they get used to it...e.g. people had issues with ladies wearing pants but today it is now a norm. but also here people will comment basing theirs comments on racism not knowing that in spirituality there is no race and no gender. Also google, it's not only black people who believe in ancestors, other races also do( Roman Reigns in wrestling...their race has a cartoon movie also that shows a young gifted child being groomed by the grandmother)...basically all races have their own ancestors n within each race there are gifted people that heal spiritually. LET'SDO RESEARCH.
@@mbonaniphiwamandlamandlakh6009 For me personally, I'm finding this conversation very funny because for starters it shows the level of ignorance to say the least in our community Precious Jesus. The irony of having cultural rights to something we clearly don't comprehend so well. We're not even invested to learn about. It's amazing how, knowledge is really the commodity of kings. Phofu, mind you we're living in the information century at the touch of a button but the level of ignorance is beyond me I tell you. Let's put aside the history of who we are and what colonisation impact has had and dive into the basics of ubungoma and what her dress attire tells you and how if we held such information this conversation should have taken a different turn all together from the word go. I see all sorts of critical commentary but no one is pointing the obvious facts why? Because it's simple, we are engaging in a space we literally have no knowledge of and clearly not taking time to learn anything besides claiming that it's our birthright so weird and funny the level of entitlement I tell you. She's wearing a Mndawe cloth, at it's early stages of development and acknowledgement. Where does it originate from and how, why she's called for it? We don't know but quick to judge and crucify, share feelings not facts about ubungoma. We don't know simple basic facts why because we're the unlearned bunch ready to share our two cents of thoughts. First of all, what's Mndawe spirits and where do they originate from? Mndawe spirit is a WATER SPIRIT. Originally from Southerneast of Africa Mozimbuque, Zambia, Zimbabwe etc. It's best initiated that side but can be initiated here as well as time went by. These are all your ancestors that died inside water. Here, in SA, it's because of the war between the Zulu Kingdom and the British Empire and the fact that we're originally from Africa as our people moved seeking for employment and would die anywhere but at their homes before PROUDLY SA existed. So who doesn't have a water ancestor? Secondly, the reason why her answers seem off, it's because the spirit she has embraced is not fully cultivated, matured and purified yet. If she was wearing the blue Mndawe cloth and still exhibit such an aura something definitely would be off there. How do you then engage with people who don't even know the basics of ubungoma and how one can have such a spirit. It's not a new movement in the bungoma spectrum all together to witness many wearing or having all these other spirits besides Nguni spirit which is by far the most popular one in our community (wearing white and blue beads) and I can't think of the other most popular one too. But our naive bunch are out here praising how great Lebo's journalistic skills are and missing the point. So sad, we're really not ready to effect change in our community at all. Once many are in agreement, it's game over.
The guest speaks funny , ekare ha a batle go bua. And when she says there were evil spririts, does she refer to her badimo spirit the way other churches call it or ???

You had the guts to say it, Mina I couldn't. I think they scammed her, from allowing her to choose not to do some rituals because she's different, to leaving her to do what she wants before she even graduated, I don't even want to mention the best friend Tsepi.

The gobela would never initiate her without seeing that she needs to go through it, it's not your place.

Doesn't a black American still have African ancestors?
They do,so is every race.
If an African can be a Christian, a white lady can be a sangoma
There is a similar story of a white lady from America who also got visions to be initiated as a sangoma here in SA.

That's some skill right there!! Relebogile can think on her feet...bravo.

That’s what I m saying , doesn’t make any sense

Let's forget that she was guarded and closed off . Oh my word are people so ignorant and judgmental... We all have ancestors and different cultures despite of the ethnicity you are . Ancestors will communicate or give you a gift weather u are white , red , black or green it doesn't matter , hence will have different rituals to perform because of different cultures. There's nothing unusual about this lady at all .
Which rituals do what folks have to perform?
So they got her mother a black sangoma for protection and it worked, then she went to see a black sangoma in the township who told her that she had a calling but she wanted to hear it from a white sangoma, only then could she believe it? Honestly, that's where she definitely started to lose me.
Yazin, let me just leave it here because I really don't know much about uk'thwasa.
Lool you blame her?She had never seen or met a white Sangoma prior to her "calling".
Nami sorry
I mean she had never met a white one before so it makes sense why she would want to confirmation from someone that looks like her.
Even in western medicine. In South Africa, I've yet to see a non white person consulting a black/African doctor.
Also , how is she Mkhulu Tshepo ?
And when she says there were evil spririts, does she refer to her badimo spirit the way other churches call it or ??? uma ungaliphuzanga waliphalaza then awsona isangoma. why are african pracrices being molded to suit the white???
Thank you so much for sharing your story. ❤️❤️❤️ it’s hard because people don’t understand and they don’t believe. Especially when it comes to family. But we persevere always.
So the ancestor in her is African? So indaba yeAncestor doesn't have to be someone who is directly related to you? Cause i always thought white sangomas have white ancestors in them. That's why i was so skeptical. This is interesting.
My thought exactly
It's impossible for it to be a stranger. They have to be in your family lineage which is why I found this to be very disrespectful.
If what she is saying is true, why is it not affecting us as Africans. We've never heard of a Mozambican ancestor contacting a South African person to twasa.
White folks have been in Azania for over 400 years. So chances of some of them having black ancestory is high. Kodwa ke elinye idlozi you get it through meeting people. I think umLozi uwuthola nje by meeting abantu.
@@ThandazaMK what you're saying is making a lot of sense @them probably having a black family member somewhere in the family tree.
@@ThandazaMK Your response is crazy , why would they only give honour to their Black ancestors if that was the case ? They don’t even regard themselves being part of the Black community, why would they acknowledge Black ancestors? What is doing disrespectful , only colonized and enslaved that would feel honoured by this fuckery
I think passing of Gogo's husband left pain in her
very insightful but I want to know what race is mkhulu Tshepo and her ancestors who deliver the message to her, are they black or white
Yoh I feel sad watching her cause she got played "he's not my dlozi he's my best friend"
😭😭
😂😂😂😂
In Europe we have Wicca which often is a calling. Sangomas are called Shamans in other cultures. But I have agree she seems a bit disillusional
Ugogo is so guarded....excellent interview Relebogile you are very good.
Could they have had a black ancestry ?
I was gonna end the interview n play music, maybe ask her to show me how to do sangoma dance. Talking is not her thing
So spot on, not all of us enjoy conversing hey
Relebogile mabotja... 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏This girl had questions after question... Aaaibo, this could have easily been a very awkward interview but the girl was on top of it ... You are speacila hle
So now I believe people who say when you don't have madlozi the gobelas invoke spirits in you. Same thing was done to my friend
Aibo😧😧..As in evil spirits?? Hope your friend went to a traditional healer and sorted that out
@@anelissabrown2424 They took her to a krall and put beads on her legs and wrists at the gobelas home in mpumalanga. Then they brought her back to jozi and beat drums for her that's when the spirits came and she was called by a shangaan male name.Baba.......She finished her thwasa but today she can't see anything,..dololo after all tha money
