One day I woke up and remembered what my dad once told me “do not take democracy and your freedom for granted”.
Me and 20.000 other swedes joined the national guard in the last couple of months. The Swedish home guard is soon 42.000 men strong and well armed!

Swedes, Finns, Russians, Ukrainians; we all used to fight together, unified, under the Rurikid Dynasty. "RUS" is originally what the swedish "vikings"/varangians were called. The first ruler of this federation and the Kievan Rus, was Rurik, a varangian prince from what today is called Sweden. Russia and Belarus is still named after those times and Ukraine still uses the seal of the Rurikid Dynasty. We used to be unified as one, so why are we all fighting today?

Anyone, including Russia, trying to invade Sweden will find out that things are more than meets the eye. This army has been training for a century to use the environment here to the advantage. All weapons are state of the art. We will drive anyone out in time.
However finland is more prepared and got bigger army and much more budget in their army, they are the ones which have too face the russians first on the frontline, swedes will just have too help them pretty much!

Greetings from Poland. It's sad that our cooperation is not greater. Perhaps it is because of our difficult past and the lack of a direct land border. I would like such cooperation with Sweden as with our V4 partners (Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia). Together, we could conduct economic, military and scientific projects.

The cooperation is there through NATO as Sweden is a partner to the organisation.
@@Ali-uc5rn I'm not sure being a partner means much more than joint practice operations and some sharing of intelligence. As a Swede I'm all for a full NATO membership.
Lack of direct land border can't be a problem. Sweden has a close cooperation with the Baltic states even though we don't share a direct land border
@Jimmy Schwartzman sure it does. Both Finland and Sweden would be fully members within a week if we would choose to apply due to the close partnerships we have with Nato. Let's not forget that both Sweden and Finland are two good strategic locations to hold.
With all that said there ofcourse ain't no guarantees Nato would defend us, but I still see the chance of getting help from them as big since they can't afford to give Gotland to Russia
In the 1980s Sweden had 850 000 men who had military experience. I hope you get back to these numbers as fast as possible now! We might need every man and woman soon, let's hope not.

@@NYlocked Well it seems that anti-air is very important nowdays so from ground to air defence will give some balance if a nation does not have a big airforce. Dogfights are not very common anymore, but of course you need planes from air to ground strikes and also for recoinnance.

Not anymore.. We used to have the worlds fourth largest airforce, we almost had nukes, and in almost every home we had guns, anyone not in the active military was in the reserves and had an AK4 in the closet...That was during the cold war, and we have totally disarmed now in comparison.

The thing that makes Swedens defense strong wasnt mentioned in this video, their submarines! In a military exercise with USA a Swedish sub took down a american aircraft carrier, and another time the swedes sunked 10 american subs with just one of their.

The 120mm tracked dubble Mortar is great!
And the Swedish 40mm tracked is among the best in the world.
The Archer Artillery is good but we should have made it with the Norwegian spec that is was planned for.. The ammo cap is to low amounts other things..
The Carl Gustaf Recoiless AT gun is also top notch.
The tanks are okay but the weakest part in my opinion
Strv 122 are on the same level as Leopard 2A7, with a slightly worse gun.

I'm Swedish and made my military service in 1986 in the Navy. Sweden needs to train and develop war situations in towns and cities because eventually, the enemy will attack there. Don't hype the Swedish capacity.....be realistic.

Yeah Swedish armed forces are not to be messed with. Russia can’t fight on open ground never mind a vastly mountainous country full of professionals who more than know the terrain and have been training for years.

Vad jag vet så är det inte en fråga i mönstringsunderlaget gällande partitillhörighet. Men såklart uttrycker man åsikter som de Tyska KSK regementena gjorde så kanske ens motiv för att vara med inte är hållbara, då militären i första hand slåss för allas rätt att vara sig själva inom Sveriges gränser men även till viss del utomlands. No please. Wish Swedish Army Forces be deleted or atleast decreased. Because Russia have threatened with war if we increase our military power, especially if we join NATO. It isn't exactly a smart thing to do that then. A better thing would be to put down on the army, atleast temporarly, so Russia doesn't get a reason to attack us.
We shall not allow another nation to control our nation. We are not a puppet, we are a independent nation and we have the right to do whatever we want inside our borders! For king and country, we shall never fall!
