Here in Canada the only manufacturing in that industry is through US parent companies. Sweden is also neutral whereas here in Canada we need a nanny to tell us what to do. Sweden is a real country, Canada is a pathetic vassal entity.
We are losing it, since the world is getting more globalized and we can't really compete when so few want to buy from us. We can only offer the best deal. Not any geopolitical clout, which is getting more and more important as the world gets more and more volatile. Finland, probably the best fit for Gripen E, and worst for the F35, and still they went for the F35. Heck, even a child can figure out the effectiveness of relying on a hangar queen that needs complex logistics and enormous runways when you live literally next to Russia, world leader in missiles. That infrastructure has the lifetime of 20min when war breaks out. No fighter will change that fact. But hey, let's hope Canada will choose the Gripen E now, then manufacturing will be done in Canada.

They are basically useless in every conflict in history but if the campaigns are long enough they win by throwing huge number of soldiers to the front. In the long run they will exhaust the enemy. Not by skill, superior equipment and tactics but by bleeding better enemy dry. They lose battles up to 10 to 1 but end up winning because they have so much more people and equipment to replace every loss.
