  • This video discusses how the Securities Act of 1933 and the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 affected financial accounting in the United States. These acts created the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and require publicly-traded companies to be registered with the SEC. Publicly-traded companies must file an annual report (the 10-K), a quarterly report (the 10-Q), and a report whenever there is a material event (the 8-K) such as a bankruptcy, change of ownership, etc. This significantly increased the regulation for public companies in the U.S. and increased protections for investors.-

So, when discussing the Statements (Balance Sheet, income statement, Cashflows and equity) I have heard them being called the FACE?. Does the term even exist, and if it does, why? isnt it redundant since its the same as talking aobut the FS?.

Edspira, Thanks for the wonderful video, I've been using your channel to supplement my CPA studying because of how clearly you explain these topics! Would this video still remain relevant in a discussion of taxation and regulation in 2020, or have these two acts substantially changed?

Both of these acts are still in force and relevant

It was great for external auditors and the Birth of Accountancy Firms...but even they often could not stop the deceit. Just look at Nortel, Research in Motion, Bre-X, Enron, AIG, Madoff and loads of other Stocks that went from Hero to Zero. Invest in yourself instead, learn skills, get coaching, build a House or just buy Index Funds. Stop imagining that you're an Insider. You're NOT.
