i went here a few months ago, and i’m happy to tell you that the characters are in a better condition. the middle stage is closed but billy bob and rolfe look much better, even though they still can’t move as much as they used to.
This makes me really sad. :( I was too young to appreciate animatronics when they were still around but now that I’m older and fascinated with them all the animatronic restaurants are gone... and all these amazing machines are collecting dust. I wish a company would try to refurbish these machines and make a new animatronic chain. I’ve always wanted to go to one of these.

Pretty haunting when you really just think of it all. They are stuck in this perpetual time loop. The lucid, naive expressions of Billybob, who seems to still be pushing the band to perform at their best quality even though they are worn and just want to give out. He is the only one who still holds onto the dream- the dream of makin’ it... the dream of life returning to the good old days when he lit up a full room of pizza-eating guests. When the band was happy, they were friends. Little does he know, most of his pals around the country have gone to the dump, been cast into a fiery demise. He’s one of the last of his kind, to carry on his legacy. The sad, lifeless expressions on the rest of the band reflect their inability to have free will- they are all sentient beings, yet are trapped in a mindless, endless repeating cycle of singing the same songs over and over. Dancing the same jig hundreds of times, their mechanical joints squeaking and grating against one another. Do they feel pain? Who can know? Perhaps their expressions hold the answer. They’re relics of a past time, a time when the world was more simple. But time has forgotten them, traded them in for giant Television screens playing Disney shows for hordes of obese 7-12 year olds, stuffing their faces with mediocre pizza and soft drinks. Billybob’s glory days are over, and he and the band have no choice but to look out upon the crowd, over and over again, watching as slowly people stop coming. The world crumbles around them. Soon... it will all end. But until that day, the Rock-a-Fire Explosion will play on, Billybob will sing his tune and jig, and everyone will be happy once more, grasping for those days which are slowly slipping out of reach. For the happiness they once brought to so many faces... now escapes *them* .
Something about this is just so sad..... Knowing these animatronics and characters once brought joy to hundreds of kids every day in the 80’s, and many years later they are seen like this, in this condition, it’s just, super sad.

Yes, temporarily. A lot of the Rockafire travel shows (the three animatronic bands usually consisting of Phatz, Mitzy, and billy bob) are the worst of them since they mostly just travel between carnivals. The guy who made and still works on these guys, Aaron fetcher did a great video series last year about repairing a heavily neglected one. I would check it out if you are interested in this stuff.
@Sam Morex the place is in a small town n not many ppl visit there anyways (i however am going to celebrate my 18th there) but as much as i love those animatronics, i agree he should sell them to someone who would really appreciate them n fix them up
I actually live where I can go to this place pretty frequently, and I've been here several times. it's really sad to see it in person. the cracking of the animatronics you can hear all across the building when they're on... really pitiful.
The poor things :( They look so dirty and broken, they need a good wash and repair. Its hurts to see them all lonely and barely working. I hope that some day they'll be in a better condition.
To be honest, billy bob and looney bird seem worn up but still happy. Now, they are doing maintenance on the characters and billy bob has a new mask. I have a video about.(I am not trying to self promote I just thought I’d say.)
tier list of least to most depressed looking 1: Looney Bird. he looks completely fine actually. 2. Rolfe DeWolfe. He still looks pretty happy honestly. 3. Possessed Bob. His pupils don’t show making him look like a demonic entity smiling as he takes over Billy Bobs body. 4. Mitzi Mozzarella. She looks like she’s trying to hold in the gallons of tears as she moves her hands around in a way that makes her look like she’s almost done with everything in life. 5. Birthday Bird. mans strain of hair makes him look like the main star of an emo band. From the front he looks like this emoji -> 😔 on the side he looks like he’s slowly lost his mind and is now crippling down into pure madness always questioning his surroundings, he also looks like he’s about kill a random child with a singular death stare at a 5 mile radius. 6. Fatz Geronimo. This man looks down at the ground in such a depressing manner. He looks likes he’s been through things you could never possibly imagine. He plays his piano with not even a single drop of happiness remaining in him. he wants to end it all and yet he can’t. he must be kept locked in this prison forever playing the piano until his body rots revealing his rusty skeleton. Fatz will forever wait for this very day as he plays on his somehow functioning piano. 7. Dook Larue. The man literally looks like he’s seen his own family die right infront of his own eyes. The man doesn’t even wanna try to play the drums and instead just whacks his sticks not even syncing in with the beat a singular bit. He thinks about everything that ever happened to him. his families death, will she ever speak to me again, will i ever see my son again? these are the questions that he asks to himself non stop looking for an answer all in his head since his soul is stuck in a machine that was only ever meant to play the drums with another pair of crew members, he was never supposed to think of this type of stuff. And yet, here he is a s he sits near his drums forever thinking and regretting the mistakes he’s made in his life. 8. Beach Bear. The man cried himself to death. LITERALLY He ended his own life before any of the other members could. And that’s all i have to say :)
The cylinders in the majority of them are broken. They’re not in the right settings either, too fast of movements kills them. These are seriously neglected animatronics. I bet you those mask’s have melted onto the frame of the animatronics

I mean, I have a chuck e cheese where I live, but it only has chuck & none of the other animatronics that my mom grew up with. So if I lived somewhere near, I would definitely take the opportunity to go there. But WORKING there? having to close that place? no way.
Sheesh, billy bob is straight out of a horror movie. The way his eyes fell halfway into their sockets and roll back into his head, the way his head unnaturally jerks side to side and the noises it makes... It's a real shame. I've never seen a show, but I've watched restored ones, and Billy Bob is just such a sweet, loving, and kind character. He does not deserve to be abandoned like this.
if you go on the google reviews it appears as of feb 2020 they've been repaired! it's only pictures so it's hard to know to what extent but it's better for sure.

Honestly wish I could have seen the rock a fire explosion in the 80's in there prime when Showbiz Pizza Palace was around. Never heard of Showbiz Pizza Palace until coming across video's on youtube under recommended category!! 👍 I am confused though & I hope someone can answer this: Is Showbiz Pizza Palace & Chuck E. Cheese the same company? Or are they 2 different restaurant chains? I keep thinking Rock A Fire Explosion is an earlier version / adaption of Chuck E. Cheese... 🤷♀️
Actually its really interesting, Showbiz Pizza bought chuck e cheese back when chuck went bankrupt the first time, and they were merged for quite a while until chuck kind of started to take over as the main attraction and the Showbiz band was retrofitted to bring in chuck e cheese characters as the band instead. Then after that it slowly went from being both companies, to just being Chuck E Cheese's :) theres a ton more info on this topic but that's the jist of it!
I'm kinda confused. If this is the only place on Earth that still has the Rockafire Explosion band, is Creative Engineering making these covers of newer pop songs solely for this location?
Creative engineering isn’t allowed to help them whatsoever, and also there’s some other places with them, even a place in canada, they’re still in bad shape but are still functioning unlike these lol
Aaron I think came out publicly and said they refused his help on restoration. I remember him saying that vaguely when I use to binge his videos a few years back, don’t take my word on it.

I mean, at least they actually worked before. Animatronics are always going to be a bit unsettling to most people, but they were miles above chuck e cheese animatronics. And they made up for the uncanny movement with the funny interactions.
After doing my fair share of research, I can honestly say that whoever is supposed to be in charge of taking care of these animatronics really fell down on the job. At first I thought “eh, they’re old. Probably just can’t keep them together anymore.” But, there are a solid number of people out there who have taken great care of their Rockafires and they are in EXCELLENT condition. And, for the ones that weren’t in great condition, the proper TLC was put in to get them back to their old selves. If all the Rockafires out there looked this bad, I wouldn’t say a thing. But it’s clear to me that with the proper care, they can look SO much better. LOOK at these things. They’re being neglected and abused! While I’ve never worked on these specifically, as a craftsman myself I know that there wouldn’t be a crazy amount of money to keep these guys in shape. It’s not about money. It’s about putting in the time. Sewing kits, patches, replacing components, proper cleaning, and maintenance of mechanics. It’s not rocket science. It’s just decency. Taking pride in your establishment. You can do better, Billybob’s Wonderland.
I agree, but I also think it's important to recognize the difference between a personal collector who rarely operates them, versus a business that needs to put on multiple shows a day. It's the difference between a classic car that sits in a nice dry garage versus a car that drives 1000 miles every month. Using them so much dramatically increases the amount of maintenance needed to keep them looking good.

To be honest, billy bob and looney bird seem worn up but still happy. Now, they are doing maintenance on the characters and billy bob has a new mask. I have a video about.(I am not trying to self promote I just thought I’d say.)
tier list of least to most depressed looking
1: Looney Bird. he looks completely fine actually.
2. Rolfe DeWolfe. He still looks pretty happy honestly.
3. Possessed Bob. His pupils don’t show making him look like a demonic entity smiling as he takes over Billy Bobs body.
4. Mitzi Mozzarella. She looks like she’s trying to hold in the gallons of tears as she moves her hands around in a way that makes her look like she’s almost done with everything in life.
5. Birthday Bird. mans strain of hair makes him look like the main star of an emo band. From the front he looks like this emoji -> 😔 on the side he looks like he’s slowly lost his mind and is now crippling down into pure madness always questioning his surroundings, he also looks like he’s about kill a random child with a singular death stare at a 5 mile radius.
6. Fatz Geronimo. This man looks down at the ground in such a depressing manner. He looks likes he’s been through things you could never possibly imagine. He plays his piano with not even a single drop of happiness remaining in him. he wants to end it all and yet he can’t. he must be kept locked in this prison forever playing the piano until his body rots revealing his rusty skeleton. Fatz will forever wait for this very day as he plays on his somehow functioning piano.
7. Dook Larue. The man literally looks like he’s seen his own family die right infront of his own eyes. The man doesn’t even wanna try to play the drums and instead just whacks his sticks not even syncing in with the beat a singular bit. He thinks about everything that ever happened to him. his families death, will she ever speak to me again, will i ever see my son again? these are the questions that he asks to himself non stop looking for an answer all in his head since his soul is stuck in a machine that was only ever meant to play the drums with another pair of crew members, he was never supposed to think of this type of stuff. And yet, here he is a s he sits near his drums forever thinking and regretting the mistakes he’s made in his life.
8. Beach Bear.
The man cried himself to death.

The cylinders in the majority of them are broken. They’re not in the right settings either, too fast of movements kills them. These are seriously neglected animatronics. I bet you those mask’s have melted onto the frame of the animatronics

I mean, I have a chuck e cheese where I live, but it only has chuck & none of the other animatronics that my mom grew up with. So if I lived somewhere near, I would definitely take the opportunity to go there. But WORKING there? having to close that place? no way.
Sheesh, billy bob is straight out of a horror movie. The way his eyes fell halfway into their sockets and roll back into his head, the way his head unnaturally jerks side to side and the noises it makes... It's a real shame. I've never seen a show, but I've watched restored ones, and Billy Bob is just such a sweet, loving, and kind character. He does not deserve to be abandoned like this.

if you go on the google reviews it appears as of feb 2020 they've been repaired! it's only pictures so it's hard to know to what extent but it's better for sure.

Or fix her eyes? 🤔 I grew up in the early 90's to late 90's / early 2000 era with Chuck E. Cheese & loved it. Had all my birthday parties there for a long time. Honestly wish I could have seen the rock a fire explosion in the 80's in there prime when Showbiz Pizza Palace was around. Actually its really interesting, Showbiz Pizza bought chuck e cheese back when chuck went bankrupt the first time, and they were merged for quite a while until chuck kind of started to take over as the main attraction and the Showbiz band was retrofitted to bring in chuck e cheese characters as the band instead. Then after that it slowly went from being both companies, to just being Chuck E Cheese's :) theres a ton more info on this topic but that's the jist of it!

Creative engineering isn’t allowed to help them whatsoever, and also there’s some other places with them, even a place in canada, they’re still in bad shape but are still functioning unlike these lol

I mean, at least they actually worked before. Animatronics are always going to be a bit unsettling to most people, but they were miles above chuck e cheese animatronics. And they made up for the uncanny movement with the funny interactions.
After doing my fair share of research, I can honestly say that whoever is supposed to be in charge of taking care of these animatronics really fell down on the job. At first I thought “eh, they’re old. Probably just can’t keep them together anymore.”
But, there are a solid number of people out there who have taken great care of their Rockafires and they are in EXCELLENT condition. And, for the ones that weren’t in great condition, the proper TLC was put in to get them back to their old selves.
If all the Rockafires out there looked this bad, I wouldn’t say a thing. But it’s clear to me that with the proper care, they can look SO much better.
LOOK at these things. They’re being neglected and abused!
While I’ve never worked on these specifically, as a craftsman myself I know that there wouldn’t be a crazy amount of money to keep these guys in shape. It’s not about money. It’s about putting in the time.
Sewing kits, patches, replacing components, proper cleaning, and maintenance of mechanics. It’s not rocket science. It’s just decency. Taking pride in your establishment. You can do better, Billybob’s Wonderland.
I agree, but I also think it's important to recognize the difference between a personal collector who rarely operates them, versus a business that needs to put on multiple shows a day.
It's the difference between a classic car that sits in a nice dry garage versus a car that drives 1000 miles every month.
Using them so much dramatically increases the amount of maintenance needed to keep them looking good.
