- Jessie Royce Landis is one of my very favorite character actresses. No matter what film she appeared in, she ALWAYS elevated it (whether it was North by Northwest or shudder Gidget Goes to Rome)!
I don't think she could do ANY wrong. ;-D

Ugh. It's Gidget Goes to Rome. JRL is BRILLIANTLY HILARIOUS in it of course (and Joby Baker is cool), but otherwise it's a dismal failure....and actually rather depressing. But she is cool. ;-D

Her memoir is mostly a collection of her old notices (which were invariably raves), but this is really a much better perspective on a delightful comedienne.

In North by Northwest she played Cary Grant's mother when she ws just 2 years older than him! ISN'T SHE ADORABLE ALWAYS??? That last shot of her deciding on the black wig looking in the mirror satisfied and then saying in Italian
